    Surely like Putin and Melania, Trump has a series of stunt doubles he can rely on in the event of his early expiry.
    Have there been verified body doubles other than Saddam? Churchill had a voice double, famously.

    Any evidence that he wasn’t there? It would surely have been obvious to anyone involved.

    Angela Rayner used a firm allegedly which had a division which specialised in wealth protection and then OMG she did the absolutely unbelievable dastardly deed of putting some of the equity in her constituency house in a trust for her 3 children !

    I mean the horror of a parent looking out for their kids !

    Did she pay national Insurance on all the transactions?

    Early Sept a good time to holiday in the med. still hot, fewer crowds, warm sea, too early for Autumn rains.

    Our poll of over 1000 16/17 year olds for tomorrow’s Sunday Times shows how the newest additions to the electorate may vote.
    Including Your Party, it’s a virtual tie between Corbyn’s new Party, Labour & Reform
    Without Labour hold a 7 point lead over Reform. Read it all below!

    https://x.com/luketryl/status/1961873613310595118?s=46&t=CW4pL-mMpTqsJXCdjW0Z6Q

    30->24% for Labour
    23->23% for Reform
    14->13% for Conservative
    14->12% for LD
    14->06% for Green
    03->01% for SNP (?!)

    In short Your Party is a Labour, Green and (surprisingly) SNP killer in the 16-17 age bracket.

    EXCL: Angela Rayner's boyfriend Sam Tarry works for a political lobbying firm whose client got a £280k cash boost from the Labour government.

    The bombshell revelation plunges the Deputy PM into a fresh hypocrisy storm ahead of Parliament's return on Monday.

    That's quite a tenuous link. (And I'm no fan of the government.)
    Somebody is clearly gunning for her. It would be interesting to know whom, and why.
    Also interesting timing in the run up to the party conferences and what is likely to be an incredible difficult Autumn budget for Reeves and Starmer in particular.

    Likely, one of her own colleagues.

    Yes, but is that person anticipating a leadership contest or trying to forestall one?
    Someone who expects there to be a leadership contest in the next couple of years, and wants to get the first strike in.

    Labour's own Bobby J.

    Gordon Brown and his henchman Damian McBride invested lots of time and effort in destroying any possible rivals. That worked out really well.
    The destroyed rivals who Brown appointed to the Cabinet?

    Good morning, everyone.

    F1: found this hard to predict, my guess is the race will be a boring procession. So, I've gone for 1.95 on the McLarens and Verstappen forming the podium.

    Couple of other suggestions for free/side-bets too.

    While I like F1, I'm more than happy to call out the downsides.

    But we've also had some great races this year. Anyone who thinks the British Grand Prix was boring didn't watch it.

    I see that yesterday, a significant clay landslide took out a chunk of Norway's main north-south E6 road north of Trondheim, which I drove a month or so back, together with the main railway line and an unfortunate passing Dane, who is presumed dead. That's going to take some repair, meanwhile there won't be any north-south rail services and for most vehicles it means a long detour via Sweden.

    APOE4 gene is fairly common. 1 in 7 in the UK have both copies, while 40% of Alzheimers patients are the same.

    There are a number of companies that do private testing, and tests on the NHS are available for those with a strong family history.

    Sorry, I don't think there is any actual banana in a McDonalds shake. Better to get your potassium from bananas as naturally packaged by mother nature.

    In an unexpected development, I sort of agree with Kemi.

    Leaving untapped hydrocarbons under the North Sea while importing them is just daft. As I may have mentioned previously.

    Have you never heard of this thing called trade. The imported goods may be cheaper than the home-grown.

    Doesn't that depend on whether their extraction is economic or not?

    They are also busy with the new law insisting posters of the King James Version Ten Commandments are displayed in every Texas classroom.

    There are so many things wrong with it - all the kids reading “Thou shalt not kill” whilst checking over their shoulder for a nutter about to start shooting them, a President who apparently isn’t an adhered to the non-adultery commandment and probably very anti the idea of not making Idols as he wants to be one.

    For a country that insists on the separation of church and state they take church a hell of a lot more seriously, in a bad way, than a country like ours which doesn’t separate.

    Indeed, I'm off to Montenegro and Bosnia later in the month. 40 degrees doesn't interest me. Also everything is more expensive in the summer, and your holiday starts on a bum note because the airport is full of children who are apparently having a bad time despite the fact they are going on holiday.

    Not quite. If godparent X gives parent Y £1000 to give to Y's child when they are older they have created a trust. Wills create trusts all the time, they are a routine part of life. Joint house purchases create trusts.

    Potassium is in many other foods, see the Guardian article that I linked too.

    It also is a key part of low sodium salts such as "Lo-Salt". You have to be careful if have poor kidney function or on certain medications.

    He's a big supporter of a low carb diet, opposes the prescription of statins, thinks people can make themselves healthier through a better diet, and has raised questions about the long term side effects of mRNA vaccines. So a bit of a contrarian. But orthodoxies need to be challenged, and there is for exam evidence that a low carb diet can put type 2 diabetes into remission.

    Then again, as I understand it, we have to export the oil we produce as we can’t refine it here…
