That's roughly what Labour thought in 2010.

I think that the next 5 years could easily be more difficult than the 5 we have just been through.

Imagine Putin escalating the war in Ukraine with Trump in the Whitehouse. Starmer had better start preparing for that next Friday, and if that does occur it will likely mean that all Starmer's plans for the great things Labour will do will end up in the bin, much like Boris had to abandon levelling up as a consequence of the pandemic.

Given Biden's debate performance I think this sort of scenario is now more likely than not.

And in this statement Trump is referring to solar power - creating electricity. It’s not insane - is it clumsy telescoping of concepts? Perhaps

    Charming.

But quite funny that, for you, when Biden confuses two things he's a corpse, but when Trump does it it's a "telescoping of concepts".

  • I think the convential wisdom is that there are a proportion of very floating voters who like to move to the winning side. Whether 'Project Fear' will energise enough otherwise abstaining Cons to vote to offset that is arguable. The fact is manhy voters do not stay at home out of apathy they stay at home as a choice. Lab voters did it over Corbyn in 2019 and lots of Con voters will do it over the last five years of nonsense

Interesting question as to whether Dave understood the Greensill play and is totally unethical or if he was too stupid to understand it and just greedy. Someone commenting on the FT said he'd turned up at the Australian insurer that refused to renew their underwriting of Greensill bonds to plead Greensill's case.

Joe Biden gets tired after 4pm, according to aides, which might explain his dismal performance on Thursday’s 9pm debate.

Citing people close to the president, Axios reported that Mr Biden’s day is planned to ensure public events in front of a camera occur between 10am and 4pm.

Outside of those hours, he is likely to become tired and make verbal blunders, the website reported.

I've still not seen any Tories propose any policies to win over anyone under the age of 60. I will wait.

Isn’t that a bit of a silly question? If they offered a free house for everyone under 50, or £500k for anyone who already had one, I think they might win a few votes.

I know that’s a silly extreme example, but what do you want from people? Any party is capable of offering policies to attract any part of the electorate.

But for the Tories, the next time they win it will be based around personal freedoms, lower taxes, supporting home ownership, a sniff of patriotism, and an offer on crime.

I think BBC and ITV are missing a trick. Far too many faces on every broadcast offering very little. Less of them and I want to see more of just Big Ange or a Henry explaining what the teams are trying to achieve.

Then I would hire somebody like the Tifo football guys to do a show, where they really break down what is going on, the attributes of various players etc.

I have long thought this. Two per coach and you retain your reviews if XYZ just like cricket. Make coaches put their money where their mouth is.

Or even two per on-field captain and give them a role. A captain mouthes off and the ref says “are you reviewing it”?
