The Green party will field parliamentary candidates in almost 95 per cent of seats in England and Wales, it emerged yesterday.
The selection of 535 candidates represents a major leap from the slate of 335 people that the party fielded in 2010. Almost 40 per cent of all Green candidates are women, a higher proportion of female representation than the other main Westminster parties.
But since I'm on at 8/1 I'll leave the evens for anyone else who wants it /smugmode
PS "Clegg only" @ 25/1 in their "which of Farage/Clegg/Salmond will be MPs" might appeal.

It really was a great move. I am certain most people will only retain that they think Labour will be abolishing them, and the Tories jumped in to defend their rich mates. Exactly. They said that yesterday. They are not abolishing it at all, because that would cost money (Ed Balls was right)

Think about it all - Labour drop 1% of their vote in Scotland - this must be added on in England and Wales.
At the same time 1 DIRECT Tory MP has a fair wind of being wiped out and at least 9 other indirect Tory Helpers (Lib Dems)
The SNP surge is actually tremendous news for Ed Mili PM !

Another great poll for the SNP tonight - let's hope its a SLAB meltdown of epic proportions, and they're deservedly reduced to less than 6 seats.
Very much with the phone pollsters, the weightings earlier on today with the internet polls as pointed out here earlier are crazy, particularly those with 18-34 weighted at 4/3rds of the over 60 voters. That's just crazy when you consider voter turnout and voter registration combined. Enjoyable seeing the Tories in panic mode earlier on today though - it does pay to have a look at the details behind a poll before running to immediate judgement!0 -

A full recovery might've been a tall order, but surely they should've made some progress under Murphy, or what was the point? When he took over he predicted that, once he'd sorted them out, Labour wouldn't lose a single seat to the SNP. So he can't now claim it was always an impossible task.HYUFD said:Alistair In your opinion, he took over Scottish Labour at its nadir, he will not be able to fully rebuild until after the election

The south of England has suddenly become Kuwait at the same time as the North Sea oil is drying up. That will impact the SNP's negotiating hand in the future.0 -
Same thoughts, I remember many summers spent listening to Ritchie. Not sure how today's youth will fall into cricket with it being on premium channels and without widespread coverage.Sunil_Prasannan said:No longer really into Cricket (though I was 20 years ago!), but RIP Richie Benaud.

We need an English National Party to use that slogan, maybe UKIP is up to it.foxinsoxuk said:

If the SNP did it in Scotland with "hands of our oil" why not the ENP?

Speedy I expect the English Democrats would be up for it0

Dair Indeed, though C5 still has highlights, Test Match Special still going strong though0

rullko Well he had to say that didn't he, but the Scots seem to want to send SNP MPs to protect Scottish interests and ensure promises of more powers are kept, Holyrood next year will be a different matter and more on the SNP's record, while in 2020 if Labour loses they will have a better UK leader too0

The easiest seat for the SNP from Labour still has a 5000ish majority.rullko said:

Under normal circumstances that is pretty tough !0 -
Dair Indeed, which is why sadly you have to fork out for Sky for the full experience, with perhaps Test Match Special commentary in the background, night0

Disappointing to learn the Tories aren't committing to 2% on defence spending, especially after Dave said other NATO members should do the same. I wonder if this figure includes the cost of Trident renewal?0

56% Sturgeon
14% Davidson
13% Murphy
1% Rennie
What the public thought of the Scottish debates.
Those of us who patiently pointed out that Murphy was a crushing liability to Labour now see that he has achieved the virtually impossible in Scotland - coming behind a Tory!
TWO QUESTIONS
Can the usual suspects on this site explain how they can be so out of touch with Scottish opinion.
Does anyone in the "Scottish" press corps of Murphy lovers ever have any self awareness on how out of touch they are with Scottish opinion.
Alternatively perhaps we should leave you alone, telling each other why the public are wrong and you lot are really much much wiser.
Murphy looks and sounds like a weird bully. The idea that any electorate never mind a Scottish one energised and activated by the Referendum would find his approach to politics one iota of attractive is an insult to the intelligence.0 -
Thing is, there;s other options. I watch Cycling now, it's got a better climax than Cricket does. And, w're actually successful too!HYUFD said:Dair Indeed, which is why sadly you have to fork out for Sky for the full experience, with perhaps Test Match Special commentary in the background, night
