Rosie Duffield comes across very bitter. I think she’s got a huge amount of credit on the trans issue but on everything else she comes across as very angry that she’s not running Labour.
In all honesty Starmer should publish his own texts with Mandelson. I suspect they are incredibly dull
I am 100% sure they will be otherwise they wouldn't even gone down this route in the first place. There will be no smoking gun. My guess will be that some have said spicy things about Trump and it will be more embarassment than anything else and that is why they were trying to do a bit of a filter of some messages under the guise of national security.
The really big cover up is the immediate decision that Mandelson BT email correspondence definitely couldn't be recovered so no point looking into that any further.
To be honest technically speaking they probably are impossible to recover. I’m pretty sure BT email from that time is long defunct.

Maybe, but coming to that conclusion within about 2hrs, doesn't exactly suggest there was any real desire to look into it.
I came to that conclusion in five minutes from an understanding of it from a technical perspective. It’s possible they did the same?

The same people who were prattling on about the AI skills hub a few days earlier...tech is not their strong point.
It's a regulated broadcaster and it's not supposed to broadcast utter nonsense without challenge. The founding Director of OFCOM who wrote the broadcasting codes is reported to be astounded they just let it slide. It's to protect credulous idiots, it's what separates the UK from places where they appoint vaccine denying hoaxers to high office.
They asked his opinion and he gave it. It's called an interview.
And they didn't give an alternative take. Like when the BBC does climate change and interview a renowned scientist then allow an idiot to give their view. GB news are supposed to give an alternate view to the idiots they have on. There are different rules for broadcasters than newspapers
GBNews are exempt from the impartiality requirement because they claim to be a series of magazine shows rather than news programmes. It's bollocks of course.

Unless he kept a box of old phones
Wouldn’t make any difference. The messages were stored on the server and using IMAP/Blackberry email service (long since shut down for its own security vulnerabilities).

Okay fair point but I’m telling you they are unrecoverable.
One usual Starmer critic messaged "if we can bottle this Kier we'll walk the next GE"
I am no PB Tory but these idiots are deluded.
He said 'i employed the lying twice disgraced friend of a well known nonce despite the warnings' but he said it in a Richard Burton doing War of the Worlds voice. Im convinced hes our man
You are on fire today.
My view is Starmer had every right to take whatever course he felt necessary to deal with Trump in the national interest. Don't forget Farage and Gove thought sending Mandelson to Washington was the work of a genius. None of that matters. Mandelson blew up in Starmer's face so he has to resign. Them's the breaks.
If by 'he' you mean Starmer, then he clearly doesn't have to resign. At least, not today.
If and when he does have to resign, that will be in the future because further bad news / poor performance has tipped the scales.
I am of the opinion that the Mandelson business is the tipping point.
I thought Starmer had more self awareness than this.
This farce is reminiscent of Johnson clinging on scandal after scandal.
The sooner Starmer goes the better. I do not want to live through a fascist government. That is looking more and more likely as each day passes.
His judgement on Mandelson is similar to Johnson’s on Pincher. However the Tories had other viable options, Labour really doesn’t.
I’d love to see Starmer quit but I cannot see Rayner or anyone else doing better.

The security services definitely have/had them. They hoover up all email - it's almost too easy to do.

It’s why there’s a genuinely non-zero chance he survives long beyond May. Because there is nobody else.

Re Wes Streeting - is he safe from being unseated? he currently has a majority a little over 500.
What does everyone think of the chances of him being unseated by pro Gaza/Palestine independents at the next GE, and is Ilford too far out of Central London for the Greens to target?
No chance of Labour holding Ilford South. If he's running the show, Streeting could be parachuted into another Labour seat vacated against expectations by a retiring Labour MP in return for a peerage on the eve of the next GE. Pat McFadden got his seat that way, for example. But finding one will be a problem now. A seat like Gorton and Denton would in normal times have fitted the bill nicely......
As for Streeting, I really don't fancy his chances:
1. His actions today were about trying to get in first to limit the damage. Yet he damage is still there. The releasing of copious private emails with Mandelson shows just how close the two were in political terms and the tone of them are very much those of friends. Supping with the devil indeed. Commentators have every right to go on describing him as "Mandelson's protege".
2. At least with the release of further e-mails eventually dismissed Mandelson in September 2025. Yet Streeting faced with the same damning evidence went on camera in September to say that Mandelson was doing a fine job and should stay on. How can someone now stand for Labour leader when they were prepared to publically stand by Mandelson on the basis of the same evidence that caused Starmer to sack him? I am surprised that this video has as yet had little circulation, but it surely will when the time comes:
Note that Streeting is using the same argument in defending his closeness to Mandelson as he used about Mandelson's closeness to Epstein then. "We shouldn't tar everyone as being guilty by association."

Indeed and the Tories selected Truss and produced, according to Nigel Farage, the most Conservative budget since 1986.
I'm up for Rayner ( I don't particularly like her) but she has far more about her than the dreary twats jockeying for position. Milliband is even less self aware than Starmer.
Rayner could go all Truss2, but I believe, lesson learned, she could surprise in the upside.

It’s not in the interest of anybody except him to resign right now, because there are some disastrous by elections and local elections coming. Leadership rivals want those in the rear view mirror and Farage and Badenoch do not want somebody more competent taking over…
Snowflake has spoken?
Louise Mensch was not Snowflake. I forget what name she posted under.
Didn't Mensch resign as an MP to set up a social media site?
Didn’t she go mental over the Bataclan killings? I forget the details apart from it being a bit mental.
I can forgive the author of Career Girls anything.

Rosie Duffield has received a huge amount of abuse for her head above the parapet on trans, and she had a right to expect that her party leader would offer pastoral support to her as a result.
It's understandable that she's bitter that Starmer did not have the human decency to offer that support.

(narrator: in the run up to GE24 general election things came to a head between Rosie Duffield and Lord Michael Cashman, better known as Colin in Eastenders. Starmer sided with Rosie, adopted her program wholesale, withdrew the whip from Cashman and put him on the Crossbencher benches, where he remains nearly two years later. In gratitude for this act of pastoral care, Rosie continued to insult Starmer and then resigned the Labour whip)

GBNews should not have to be impartial, but they include a left wing commentator in every segment.

Seriously?
He actually put that in his speech.
