“The UK Independence Party has announced that it suspended its General Secretary Roger Bird on the 7th of December following allegations of impropriety.
Shortly after a claim came to light about the conduct of Mr Bird with regard to candidate selection, the UK Independence Party took action swiftly and decisively, including steps involving external Human Resources consultants, as well as following due process and the Party’s Constitution to the letter.

Farage is making a point of winding up those who will never vote for him, goading them into loud and shrill denunciations of him (in the absurd language of those who think their view is the correct view and are aghast that people in large numbers agree with Farage). He is to my mind putting clear purple water between his party and these people, winding them up as effectively as Ali G did.
For reasons only known to themselves, Cameron & his high tories thought it was a good idea to insult and abuse the people who voted for him to please the guardianistas and others who would never ever vote for him however much he appeased them.
What will make or break the UKIP brand is how their newly elected MPs in 2015 behave and perform in parliament, including the new party leader that will inevitably follow before the 2020 election. The rest is just noise.
However for the first time in decades, certainly since the new "Gramasican" left took over Labour after Gaitskills death, the British people have on the ballot paper a broadly socially conservative small "c" conservative party of ordinary working and lower middle class people with a serious chance of electing a caucus of MPs, and certainly the first time such a party has been on offer that is not tainted either by socialism or the desires of the aristocracy. The reaction of the established parties is, I suspect, similar and similarly counter productive to their reaction when Labour first started winning seats at the turn of the 20th century.

Yes, too much of Libdem stance for retaining incumbent MPS is based around the concept that the Liberals did the right thing for the good of the country over the good of their party by going into coalition. Of coruse that dosen't stop the conservatives doing something in say late February that makes the Libdems utterly apoplectic to intentionally topple the coalition for exactly that reason though, and then saying well we did our best but the Libdems couldn't cope with government and flounced out.....
Overall though I expect the coalition to last the course. I suspect the Queen, using her all powerful soft power, was instrumental in ensuring the coalition happened and would take a very dim view of anyone who collapsed it and jeopardised the stablility of the UK.

If you cook a meal from scratch it costs about a tenth of a ready meal. For two generations people haven't been taught basic home economics (ie how to cook nutritious food cheaply from scratch). You only have to look in a supermarket to see that it is the least educated, least well off who are piling their trolleys with expensive ready meals and think pizza or microwaved ready meals are a suitable main meal.

I'm lucky, my wife was an immigrant from a country with no social security (another immigrant who will be voting UKIP BTW). Despite there being eight of us, our weekly supermarket shop rarely goes over £120 - including soap poweder etc. - because she cooks from scratch (other than Saturdays) and I grow some of it on an allotment. She once made a delicious soup out of brocolli stalks left over after the broccoli had been eaten.0 -

The reason people are voting UKIP rather than Con is nothing to do with the language anyone (whether Con or UKIP) is using about anything.

You are dreaming if you think it costs 10%, by that reckoning people equivalent to yourself would be spending over £1000 weekly at supermarket. It is also very time consuming to cook your own meals , but has benefits of you know whats in it and much better taste normally. Also I fail to see the significance of being an immigrant to know how to cook. There are two of us and my wife cooks all meals but we still spend £200 a week , again down to what you purchase not the fact that you cook from scratch rather than buy ready meals.0 -

The Tories are way out of line with public opinion on this. I did a Yougov today that suggested voters were evenly split on whether the government should prioritise deficit reduction and amongst those who thought it a priority, people were evenly split on whether tax rises or spending cuts should be the primary method of balancing the books. Of course the image the public have of politicians arguably matters far more than where their policies are on the spectrum. Labour needs to be clear that it will raise tax as well as cut spending and to hell with the tabloid/Tory reaction. The panel member spoke to the individual and then followed up with an email basically telling him not to. The victim felt "threatened" by this & therefore the panel member should resign.
Now, possibly it was foolish of the panel member to have a direct correspondence of this nature. But equally, we must be careful not to put the victims on a pedestal because of what they have suffered in the past.0 -

Greece to speed up it's presidential election for Dec. 17th after they got a 2 month extension from the eurogroup on the bailout negotiations.
The rules are that the greek president must be elected by at least 180 MP's after 3 rounds of voting until Dec.27th, if not then it's early elections on Jan.25th and the radical left is ahead by around 6 points in the opinion polls.

Re Immigrants. If you come from a country with no welfare you either learn the basics or starve when things go wrong. So you see to it that your children learn the basics. Over here such basics are seen as anti feminist and frowned upon. Its one big reason why immigrants do much better than the locals. They know how to live very cheaply and have a work ethic derived from a work or starve culture. Hence they work hard, spend little, put the difference into savings and make something of their lives. Sadly the British welfare classes have never been taught the self discipline to do that because in liberal Britain self discipline is a dirty word.
You may think it odd that someone supporting UKIP says this. However the UKIP candidate for Tooting puts it much better than I can.

Lastly, it is also worth pointing out there is only one party in the UK which has been continuously beating the drum for the Commonwealth and promoting Commonwealth free trade to ensure Britain does not miss out on unprecedented global growth. That party is UKIP.
UKIP wants a global Great Britain, not the little England on the sidelines of the European Union which we have become under the last two governments.
