    On Euro 2020, I genuinely think England's best chance of winning the whole thing is to finish third in the group. They're in Group D, so they'll have a decent amount of knowledge of what they need to do before the second and third games. A draw with Croatia would be an ideal start.

    Portugal were average in 2016 and they won it thanks to three draws in the group stage that got them on the favourable side of the draw.

    That's a slightly odd poll as it doesn't actually do what it says on the tin in terms of measuring how much people like each of the dishes in questions.

    It doesn't ask for people's favourites, or a score out of ten, just a like/dislike split. So the dishes towards the bottom probably aren't genuinely "crap" tier - they just divide opinion, largely due to a percentage of people having a negative reaction to offal. Those towards the top are just less controversial - nobody dislikes crumpets or Yorkshire puddings, but are they really that many people's favourite?

    It's like the reason why there are so many pizza restaurants. Is it that many people's favourite cuisine? I doubt it. But, if you're going out in a group, it's the one that nobody is likely to object to.

    Unfortunately, Southgate hasn’t learned from Spurs that building a team around lower-league journeyman Harry Kane’s attempt to win the Golden Boot never translates into team trophies... 1-0 up against Croatia and trying to score from an impossible position, rather than squaring the ball to Sterling for a tap-in was peak Kane

    Both chicken tikka and masala sauce are old South Asian recipes. It's the combination, in response to British preference for "gravy" on dishes deemed too dry, that is very probably from the UK.

    It is a bit of a cheat, since people will have different views about some of the inclusions in a Full English. No black pudding fo rme, but hash browns definitely.

    I guess that - while you or I may prefer black pudding as part of our full English breakfast experience - someone can quite legitimately claim to have had a full English breakfast without the inclusion of that item.

    I seem to recall some TV programme years ago which did a 'Britain's favourite meals' thing, and they made sure all different curries got counted seperately, to make sure 'curry' or 'indian curry' did not win.

    For anyone who has not been, a trip to Bury market for hot black pudding (I prefer the less fatty one with mustard and ketchup) is absolutely great. I've not been for a very long time, but still like black pudding, and the broken biscuit stall too!

    I love most of the bottom two tiers. Of course steak and kidney pies, scotch eggs and black pudding cover a multitude of sins. From cheap shite for Asda to the artisan ones that cost a few quid each at food festivals. Those I adore.

    What I don't like are pies where the upper crust comes off like a lid and you end up spooning out the filling. That spoils the pie for me.

    Its relation to proper olive oil is rather like American rubber cheese’s relation to proper cheese. They get away with calling it Olivio and trying to ride on the back of olive oil’s well known health benefits whilst only 15% of the oil in the bottle actually comes from olives.

    How can a Yorkshire pudding which is essentially just a three dimensional pancake filled with Bisto, be considered in the top tier of food? Surely it's only there because it's bland and inoffensive?
