    Much as I disagree with near enough everything that comes out of his mouth (and find his political friends to be horrendous), Corbyn (when he is speaking for himself) does have the ring of authenticity. You do believe (no matter how deluded his thinking might appear) that he actually believes what he is saying.

    Smith just opens mouth and words come out - sometimes what others have told him it would be good to say and at other times, we get gaffes like today and the language of physical/sexual violence that we got in the recent past. There is nothing authentic about him.

    Corbyn doesn't even seem to be taking anymore Green votes. Which is odd as I've seen anecdotal stuff about activists leaving Greens for Corbyn-land, even recently. Maybe the voters themselves aren't persuaded, or maybe anyone who will shift vote has done so.
    I'd imagine the Greens have quite a wide gap between their activists and their voters. Quite a few people voting Green will just want to protect the environment and not be impressed by Lab or Con.

    With Lab going left I think they're missing a trick by not going soft-small-c-conservative and pitching for people who would once have voted for Clegg, but I guess it's hard to do with the activists they have.

    Corbyn is dim and he's wrong on virtually everything. He's unelectable and a fool. But at least he has something about him, a bizarre likability factor. You know pretty much where you stand with him - he'll be wrong and he'll be wrong for the wrong reasons. It's comforting in a way.

    But this Owen Smith character represents the worst of the Blairite wing from the Labour party. A principle-less empty suit, who is thick, utterly repellent and has managed to triangulate himself into negotiating with ISIS. What an utter ****.

    Smith now says that he won't negotiate with IS until they renounce violence. Still spinning the NI peace line - which is demonstrably false.

    He can't even get his 'clarifications' to make sense. Let alone the guff he spouts to get himself into this mess.
