Did Leave.EU pay an agency to do their poll during the past two days. In which case, couldn't they have found something else to spend the money on? Or did they get their own activists to do it? In which case, couldn't they give their activists better training than "try to persuade DKs and intending Remainers, and try to make soft Leavers firmer, but at the end of every conversation ask the person how they'll vote?
I made it. Got into the station at 9.47. Ran to the car, broke every speed limit and got there as they were preparing to close down. I was the second last in; the last person was also a late train casualty and also Remain.
More Eurosceptics deserting the Tory part is presumably very good for Tory pro-Europeans in getting a Remainer as thier next leader.
57% of Tory voters voted Leave according to Yougov, not much good if the Tories get a Remainer as leader and are left with just 43% of their own voters.
There is zero reason why Tory Leave voters should leave the party. There's been a vote and all sides now need to respect the result and move on, whatever the result is.
Theresa Villiers calls it for Remain, blames project fear
I don't get why you would say something like this so early, unless they know something we don't...
I have a horrible feeling of the repeat of 2004. Gove's successful strategy was to target the people who didn't vote (christian nut cakes)- but I bet GOP wish they hadn't.
Surely if the on the day votes are 54-46 in Sunderland and the postals are 60-40 then thats suggesting Sunderland is going to be 56% Leave? That's enough over-par to outweigh Scotland, NI and Gibraltar to give about 51% Leave overall?

The best bit of campaigning I remember seeing was the "call your nan" campaign by the remain side. I'm not sure how long it ran or how effective it was, but the idea of using it to mobilise your supporters into activity while also taking what's probably your only shot of shifting some of your solid opponents.
Yes Scotland had a similar campaign, they had a "conversation pack" you could apply for and heavily advertised through Generation Yes the importance of talking to your grandparents.
They must have been fired up by the Queen of Corby's tweets.
There are some pretty grotty areas in the middle of Kettering which probably have a low turnout usually. I remember driving around them a few years ago.

Anything between 52% and 58% Leave is "too close to call". We need to see Wandsworth and Newcastle too.

I'm not sure that there is 'zero reason'. Cameron called a good chunk of his base 'Little Englanders', which I assume reflects the views of his Remain colleagues. Obviously, Cameron himself is off, but I wonder how forgiving the 57% odd are going to be?

One thought if farage stays on. Surely carswell has enough like minded anti EU tories to rejoin the party and some 'sub group' rather than be stuck with nigel? Crazy to say?
Okay Sky is really pissing me off talking about EU funding for all these different parts of the UK. Its not EU funding. Its UK taxpayers money laundered back to us via the EU.
I was with you on that, Richard, but given that the Leave campaign made such a big deal of the £350 million a week line, I think it became valid again.
It's £350 million a week if we ignore the £100 million a week direct rebate and about £120 million a week of that EU funding, of course, and I certainly know you weren't one of those pushing that daft line. As someone who started off leaning Leave, it pissed me off somewhat (partly because I'd already, like you, got my hackles up at the "EU funding" claim; the Leave line more than legitimised the Remain claim, it went way beyond that into outright mendacity.
I know it might be daft to get into this now but the rebate is not £100 million. It is about £60 million a week. Our donation to the EU is £288 million a week after the rebate. That is the number they should have been using as I said before.
It's EU spending in the UK.
Evidently we needn't replicate it but some in Leave have say we would.
No its UK taxpayers money that we send to the EU and they send back to us with their own conditions attached - including often a demand for matched funding.
The EU insists that any project that it funds (with our money) must have display a poster which says funded by the EU.

I love Kay. She's a complete mess, but at least she embraces it.

Yes, as Scottish Labour Yes voters so happily trotted back to Labour with their tails between their legs after No won indyref! I doubt it will be on the same scale but 52 48 Remain will encourage UKIP to try and copy the SNP

Or sack farage, offer Boris the job and take 100 tory MPs along.
@BBCRichardMoss: Labour sources say sampling in Sunderland suggest 54% Leave, 46% Remain. #EUref
Nowhere near good enough.
Actually that is right on the edge. I don't have it immediately to hand but my recollection is that is what John Curtice was saying would happen on 50:50.
Do we have turnout for England & Wales against Scotland? If English turnout is higher that'll make it easier for an English narrow Leave to outweigh a strong Scottish Remain.

Hanretty says a Leave lead of 6% is a par score...

Difference is the SNP was already the party of government in Scotland and was getting things done while Labour were in opposition.
UKIP are a party of Douglas Carswell in Westminster while the Tories are in government and getting things done.

Any word yet on whether Thomas Mair was known to MI5?
Let's not hold our breath waiting for any of the lickspittle media to ask that question.
It would be a legitimate question if he were suspected of being signed up to Daesh; it's a legitimate question whoever he is, given that we know from what he said in court that he's political.
Not much discussion either on the Sun's involvement of the queen in the referendum debate.
Whatever your political persuasion, just try to soak this all in. We're watching history unfold which will be re-watched and debated for decades. General Elections go down in history but this is something else.

So that would be 53:47? If so 54:46 is just above par for Leave. Oh for some results.

They must all look the same to her.
Are leave being underestimated?
Incidentally, is that 54% for Leave in Sunderland including postal votes?
I think Remain will edge it but I think we might see unusual results through the night.
@janinegibson: Congrats to Luke Bailey on his new role: Farage Concession Correspondent https://t.co/2Hc7fTbL5m
Trevor Phillips could've been David Lammy. ☺☺
should make life interesting
Andy...where are you?

Trouble is that I expect other areas in the south to be much more Remain than the Curtice "par".
Lets see this go all night....and then leave win by one vote
Don't think its going to though!
No need to secure UKs strategic Single Estate Virgin Olive Oil supply
How can I vote for this?

EDIT: Sorry misread. I believe "par" is Leave 55.
I thought that exit polls were meaningless for a one-off referendum.
