    So the trend that the electorate are unmoved for over a month continues.

    Both phone and online have the same static trend and the same totally different forecasts as a month ago.

    Just maybe the electorate understand the issue and dont intend to vote one way or the other based on who the politicians are on each side or what they say.

    To my mind the most important next fact is how many people join the Electoral Register between now and 7th June.

    If I understand the last thread correctly:

    Leave criticising Remain's £4300 nonsense figure is good for Remain because it makes the figure stick in people's mind.

    Remain criticising Leave's possibly misleading £350 million figure is good for Remain because it makes people remember that Leave are misleading people.

    Did I get that right?

    Ah, that's a good point. Perhaps this is about him rather than the referendum. I suspect Neil will know that and will extend his interrogation to Osborne's general handling of the economy. Whatever the motivation, it's certainly a roll of dice.

    Rather than seeing this as being a massive gamble by Osborne, I think it is more a case of him having an incredibly high opinion of his own intellect and thereby possessing a total and irrefutable grasp of all the issues relating to REMAIN being right as regards the EU referendum.
    He probably imagines in his own mind that he can gobble up anything Andrew Neil can throw at him and spit it out .... he may yet prove to be very mistaken.

    Neil would give Boris a good going over too which could be entertaining. I'd fancy Farage to do okay as he's been interviewed by Neil plenty of times and Farage has the advantage of saying what he thinks.     Wow, easy to read too much into this but the private polling must be dire, if they were comfortably ahead Osborne would smugly wave it away. Massive gamble.
    Rather than seeing this as being a massive gamble by Osborne, I think it is more a case of him having an incredibly high opinion of his own intellect and thereby possessing a total and irrefutable grasp of all the issues relating to REMAIN being right as regards the EU referendum.
    He probably imagines in his own mind that he can gobble up anything Andrew Neil can throw at him and spit it out .... he may yet prove to be very mistaken.
    If he proves to be right, it would be equally compelling viewing, not to mention good for the Remain cause.

    You're quite right - I'll be surprised if there isn't a clear winner. My money would be on Neil, for the very simple reason that he very seldom loses. Whether even a crushing defeat of Osborne, which is very unlikely, would have any effect whatever on the final outcome of the referendum is quite another matter. Surely by then virtually everyone who is likely to vote will have already made up their minds.

    No doubt but the athletes are dropping like flies. There may not be much of a Games left at this rate, and I expect this letter will accelerate the drop out rate.

    The Olympics take place in August, well away from the mosquito season in Rio, one of many reasons not to panic over tourists getting infected.

    I agree with OGH, a very insightful comment.

    Dealing with the young, they have their sights set aboard and haven't put down roots of their own yet, ignoring, of course, any obligations they may have to their parents, siblings or community. I think the young people you mean are students. The more educated you are the more likely you are to support REMAIN, but the more opportunities to have to go abroad and the more shielded you are from all this cheap foreign labour being imported.

    I can see older Remainians loving seeing their house prices going up, their public sector jobs being protected from foreign competition. Incidentally, how many immigrant presenters do you know on the BBC? I can name Graham Norton, but he doesn't count as an immigrant under the immigration acts. Rather surprising considering the number of foreigners who speak English as a first language, let alone a second.

    So really a smug bunch of ****s.
