Arguably, the real problem here is that he’s helped save the owners from themselves.
In a little way this saga is capitalism working.
Like with 'New Coke' immensely rich people have a new wheeze for maximising profits.
With football, like Coke, the ultimate revenue stream comes from consumers - supporters. Sometimes this is disguised as advert revenue, contracts with Megabucks broadcasts etc but it is all the same: no spectators/watchers, no income, no profits.
Within minutes it was obvious that the new wheeze had a problem - the punters didn't like it. They have the power to close you down by a boycott. They immediately stop the plan and try tom repair the reputational damage.
Compare that with, say, banks closing branches and all the other rubbish services you get from cartel/monopolies pretending to be free markets.
Boris changes his ideology according to what he needs to do to win an election, in 2005 he was appealing to rich Londoners to win the 2008 Mayoralty and his constituency was in Henley in the wealthy south which is more rowing and regattas than soccer.
Now his base as Tory leader and PM is white working class football loving Leavers, a lot of whom live in the North of England.
Hence too 2021 Boris is basically a Brexiteer social democrat, while 2005 Boris was a free marketeer who still supported staying in the EU
He’s a phenomenal political person but he has absolutely no principles whatsoever.
He has always had one main principle, advancing his own career
Your last 2 posts about Boris have been a bit feisty HYUFD. Good for you.
I find it totally bizarre how to this day we have such terrible signal on train lines. As a state-owned company NR should be forced to allow citing of masts wherever they are needed.
I expect that problem will be solved in the next couple of years, with satellite internet.
How does satellite internet help improve 4G and 5G connectivity? As backhaul yes but to actually provide the signal you need physical infrastructure on the ground.
Plonk the satellite dish on the choo choo and plug in a mini-base station, init?

His problem is he now needs to stand up for the economic interests of his new base. This is in direct conflict with his telegraph-reading backers.
I suspect it’ll be more tempting for Boris to find a new base, than to square that circle.
If there’s one thing Boris is good at, it’s letting people down.
This is why it is all culture war all the time now.
Up from 388K last week. Could be some 700K days later on this week. As someone in the 40-44 age group waiting for my vaccination I am checking the book a vaccine site daily now in anticipation of it opening up.
Next day or two, I reckon. Being in the bracket above, I know no-one in the 45-50 bracket who hasn't at least got a jab booked (I recognise the dangers of generalising from my own bubble!).
If 40-44 opens up later this week or next, then when do you think 35-39 will open? Early or late next month?
Early May, I would expect. Not least because of the number of 40-45 which have already been done! My friend's brother who is in that category got his by turning up at the local mega-vax centre close to the end of day and asking for one. So it's always worth trying that!
Been thinking about this Agnelli quote about Brexit. The man is an incompetent, greedy buffoon, but he does have the germ of a point. Hear me out. When Super League was announced, the reaction in Spain and Italy was pretty much the same as here. Most fans furiously opposed. But the reaction was a shrug of frustration. Nowt we can do against global, rapacious capital. But Brexit (and the pandemic too) has shown summat CAN be done. A furious minority of the population presented a vote hungry government with a one yard tap in to the empty net of the international oligarchy. Brexit showed there are plenty of electoral rewards to be gained from slamming it in the net. A government which can leave the EU, close pubs, house all the homeless over the weekend and nationalise transport can do WTF it wants. And very quickly. Not sure this will always play to the government's advantage, but, am sure they wouldn't have gone in studs up at the rebel 6 with such speed and relish pre-Brexit either.
