"Britain's race revolution: Landmark report says UK is 'a model to the world' on diversity, describes us as a 'successful multi-ethnic community'... and finds NO evidence of institutional racism

Major review found Britain is a model of a successful multi-ethnic society
Commission on Race and Ethnic Disparities was set up by the PM Boris Johnson
It concluded Britain's success should be a model for white-majority countries"

The EU digs a hole. And then it digs deeper

The EU’s position, now, seems to be this: the UK must give up excellent vaccines it trusts and uses and which it paid for, so we in the EU can “have” them instead, but then we will irrationally throw them in the bin, so more people die, everywhere

So the EU is 8 weeks behind us, about 6 weeks behind the USA. The slope is flatter, but seemingly due to supply. It shouldn't be long before they too show the benefits of vaccination.
But the eu vaccination will falter as they run out of people willing to actually have the thing
    No it won't.

Vaccine hesitancy has fallen dramatically in the UK, and will fall rapidly elsewhere.

There's next to no personal downside with being an MMR vaccine sceptic. There's lots of downside to being a covid vaccine sceptic.

If there is an obvious improvement in quality of life (i.e. being able to travel) that comes with vaccines, then people will take vaccines.

Which is why HMG should have earlier allowed lockdown exemptions to vaccinated people, allowing them to meet inside, or visit care homes or whatever. It further incentivises vaccine-sceptics.

EU plan threatens British participation in hi-tech research

    https://www.theguardian.com/world/2021/mar/30/eu-plan-threatens-british-participation-in-hi-tech-research
Britain will join China in being locked out of research with the EU on cutting-edge quantum technology, such as new breeds of supercomputers, due to security concerns under a European commission proposal opposed by academics and 19 member states.

At a meeting on Friday, commission officials said the EU needed to keep control of intellectual property on key projects and that working with even close allies such as the UK and Switzerland opened up an unacceptable risk.

Under the UK’s trade and security deal with its former partners, the government retained the right to pay into and participate in the EU’s Horizon Europe research programme, a seven-year, €95.5bn (£82bn) funding scheme. But the commission has now decided to curtail the type of projects in which the UK will be able to take part under a draft proposal discussed with the member states on Friday....

I’m looking forward to the screed of posts on how outrageous it is the EU should rip up international agreements. Paging @Richard_Nabavi et al

Disagree. You can do that once you are mopping up the sceptics. But until everyone has had the chance of a vaccine that would be inequitable

That's a report of the EU content-free but big-sounding statement we discussed last night from Reuters I think.
