An excellent header, @Casino_Royale. Thank you.

Personally I feel that Harry has turned into a whinging petulant child and it is doing him no favours. I’m all for him retiring to a private life but then he needs to stop trying to hang onto the benefits of royal life and commenting on what royal means. His latest outburst is ill-judged. A long period of silence from him would be wise.

A period of calm and competent getting on with their jobs would be welcome in our institutions.

There is perhaps a personal element to why Harry is bothered by removal of the HRH title.

Except that he hasn’t lost it. He’s just agreed not to use it. And this was after he’d decided to leave royal life and move to Canada.

If he really wants a personal private life away from press intrusion why does he feel the need to issue a statement every 5 minutes?
I think though it does show why these titles matter in Royal circles.

It is very much a shame that Harry and Meghan have been driven abroad, but knowing our press, not surprising.
They surely could have managed the press better - but I fully understand Harry being protective

There is restraint in reporting in this country, following the death of Diana - by a 'truce'.

    Not elsewhere.

I think in that particular decision they have walked into a lamp post.
Indeed, they have already been criticised by the US press. What they seemed to want was a fawning uncritical press rather than one pointing out their occasionally high-handed approach to their roles, their use of public money and their utter hypocrisy over their green credentials. If they choose a celebrity life with Harry hawking his mother’s death round the speech circuit, they are going to face press intrusion. If they want a private life - and they’re rich enough to do so - let them get on with it without fuss.

Entitled whingeing cakeism is both unedifying and tedious.
    Are they independently rich enough?

Harry has transmogrified into a stupid, spoiled prat. Stupid because he couldn't see Migraine for what she is and spoiled prat because that is what he obviously always has been but I had failed to spot.

5 deaths in South Korea out of a population of 51 million is hardly being proved right about corona. The government is just taking sensible precautions.

For a rare time I agree with you.
  • Incidentally the South Koreans haven't "closed schools" - the schools are currently on holiday and they've extended the break by one week.

According to reports they have between £20-30 million between them. Of course they’re rich enough to live very well indeed for the rest of their lives. Though not if they want the celebrity lives of billionaires, which no-one sane who doesn’t want press intrusion should want.

Princess Anne is the only one who really gets it: gets on with her job, doesn’t give a stuff about the press and has lived her private life.

Marrying Harry got Meghan from C list to A+ list celebrity, she is now in the pool she needs to be (short of having supermodel good looks which she does not quite reach) to marry a billionaire in the future. See Jackie Onassis.

    Just saying...

I admit to leaving off "to live the life that they want". That of course is reducing it all to money but I think "rich enough" also extends to global standing. I hate privilege and entitlement, and that's what this is about in spades.

I agree with you about Anne.

Yup, if you want to be out of the Royal *thing*, Princess Anne has managed that quite well.

The problem comes if you want to be a celebrity who doesn't like press intrusion. Diana was known for phoning the press to "blow" her own escapes from them.

"Man of the World" is the saddest song I've heard especially knowing where he was at at the time. Mick Fleetwood still seems to blame himself for not seeing the significance. Listen
