I remember some time ago when the Fisheries minister came from Austria. That pretty much says it all.
So had no axe to grind?

I'm sure there's a better metaphor, but ATM one escapes me.
    We catch your drift.

The Chinese government must be getting a bit rattled if they're blaming the UK for the protests in Hong Kong.

Maybe, or just going for the easy stock response.
London has form re interfering though
It has a treaty obligation to interfere. :p
They will get sent home to think again, the Chinese will tweak their snouts and dismiss them like the pygmies they are.
Okay. So we are all 100% agreed that we are diminishing in this world? Diminishing from our days of economic and military powerhouse and Empire? Diminishing for the last half century, through all the thatcher and Blair years.

Anyone actually believe brexit or no brexit, ten years of Johnson or any politician you can name, we can actually stop diminishing in this world? That we can turn it around?
Join the Euro. Redefine our definition of ‘we’.
And you can win this one simply appealing to heads, beat those playing off fears or appealing to emotions?

In the 40’s Churchill gave a speech why we needed a council of Europe. He can be right as to why, but the whole way of the world is set against just how.

I see George Osborne is playing a long game if he becomes IMF head as speculated in the Daily Telegraph..

It makes his backing for Boris rather convenient!

If the UK economy tanks he cannot get contamination as he will be away from UK shores. It could be a very smart political move by George Osborne.

It's coming home, it's coming home, cricket's coming home I won't be confident until Williamson is out.
    How about now?
Having been an England cricket fan in the 90s I'm never confident.
    Could be worse.

I was an England cricket fan ex-pat going to high school in Australia in the 90s.
Immigrant, I think, is probably more accurate.
No, the correct term is ex-pat.

I was there temporarily, we were always going to return home to England (and we did). An immigrant is someone who intends to settle permanently in their new country and we didn't.
Like the EU citizens who wanted to do exactly the same thing here and against whom the foreigner-hating Leavers voted.

Yes but Brit ex pats are special . EU nationals aren’t the same when they come to the UK. This was highlighted by interviews with some ex pats in Spain who voted Leave , they said there were too many immigrants in the UK.

When it was pointed out to them they’re immigrants in Spain , they replied we’re ex pats and the Spanish need our money !

I have this dream that in 50 years time all these ****heads will be dead and we won't have to deal with all this. Wishful thinking I know.

I once spoke to a UK citizen who lived in Tenerife who said the UK was too full of immigrants! It was early 2016 and he intended to vote for Brexit. I thought he was a hypercritical fool who had no self-awareness,..
