There have been 7 womens’ WCs. The US has won 3 and been runner up once. I think they were in the semis in the other 3. It’s a sort of reasonable statement.

That took far too long. This business of the on-field ref running to the side of the pitch to watch the replay needs to stop. If we're going to use TV replays, let the person in a suitably lit room make the decision.

Yes. England (womens) have played better and had a much better tournament than last years poor effort by the men (which was hidden by the poor opposition we met on the way to the Semi finals).

Question. If the Americans can coach American women to play football this well, why can't they do the same for the men? Seems odd that the women's team is this strong when the men's team is that weak

Major League Soccer in the US is finally taking off, and I think that will really help with the development of local talent.

Edit to add: the wage caps are crazy low in MLS. Almost half the LAFC team earns less than $100,000 a year.

    Two factors:

    1. There is stiff competition for male athletes - NFL, Basketball, Baseball, Ice Hockey - that aren't there/nearly as strong for female athletes.

    2. Women's soccer is not nearly as prevalent in the rest of the world as the men's game, though it is growing.

Also, I'd say the USA men's team have had their moments. I was at school so only saw highlights, but I think they were very unfortunate not to beat the Germans in the 2002 World Cup Quarter Final. They could have made the final that year. And I think they did okay in the 2010 and 2014 tournaments.

Ever since May's deal was agreed back in November we've been told it was on the point of passing with Labour votes. Back then we were regularly told there were up to 70 Labour MPs who might back it. But these stories have been shown time and again to be wishful thinking. It's very hard to see Labour MPs being more willing to support the deal under Boris than they were under May. Boris is anathema to Labour, their hatred and contempt for him is boundless, far more so than with May. Any Labour MP who dug him out of the hole into which he has put himself would be signing their political death warrant.

Should be Sassoli....but all bets are off.
The package indicated an Eastern European Socialist (likely Stanishev from Bulgaria) to get the EU Parliament presidency.
S&D are pissed tonight. So they ignore the whole thing and stick with Sassoli.

If Keller gets it, there won't be the problem of the 2 Germans holding key positions because Socialists will vote down Leyen.

    How many are lesbians?

My sister played for a full women’s team once and she was one of only two straight players.

70% of England team according to the 10 players the Sun had a look at.

75% (12/16) of USA team straight according to this :

Question. If the Americans can coach American women to play football this well, why can't they do the same for the men? Seems odd that the women's team is this strong when the men's team is that weak

Because they play FOOTBALL in America ;)
Football should be played with the FEET!

The sheen or whatever you like to call it has worn off and Corbyn in all his incompetent glory is laid bare .

I know straw polls of friends aren’t the best guide but I know some who used to be ardent Corbyn fans who are now done with him .

How many presidents does the EU have?

Anyway, Ska for this rude boy.

President of EU Parliament is like Bercow in the Commons.
EU Commission President is like May.

They have 100 Vice Presidents though. In Parliament 14 Vice Presidents + 5 Quaestors.

To make everyone happen they already agreed various vice presidents of the EU Commission...some un-named...

    Boris is a disgrace.

Politician campaigns for votes , shock , horror ! Bears shit in the woods! When I was campaigning to be a Tory councillor we had lists of past voters and phone numbers and regularly made calls to get out the vote. I don’t see how this is any different This is data previously given to the Tory party willingly. Sounds more like sour grapes from Hunts team to me
People may have consented to give information to the Tory party but the Boris Johnson campaign is a seperate entity so technically he falls foul. To be honest i am glad the rules were brought in to stop irratating people calling from companies you dont want to speak too! I even have TPS on my mobile and still get calls as they are usually from outside the EU on phantom numbers.

One of the positives of Women's football is that there are lots of out Lesbians, and nobody seems bothered (well nearly nobody!). How unlike the mens game.

So, we went out on penalties?

No change there then. That’s equality.

You don’t know anything about football, do you?
Nope. I do know you’re one of the worst posters on this site though.

It’s a low bar toss up between you and NigelforRemain.

I don't think a Buzzfeed hitpiece will hurt Boris amongst the Tory rank and file. To be honest they're part of the reason the likes of Trump does well in the USA.

Not so much fake news, more leftist views.

Suits the BBC agenda : gentleman Jack, killing Eve , women’s football . Time the licence fee was scrapped , it has become a minority channel taking the majorities money . And when you look at what they have been paying their top celebs : disgraceful waste of public money

It’s the other way around (70% straight) according to that link. Not that it matters.
