I'm guessing he got a call from his lawyers? Luckily for us the internet never forgets.

It briefly reappeared and then vanished again. I think it's more likely that his phone has finally been confiscated (or that is attempting to happen!)

Attacking people because they are bald doesn't endear Chapman to those who are.

What this episode does highlight is how much personal bitterness is being fomented by this whole mess.

It may be a sideshow in the grand scheme of things, but he's lifting the lid on the unhealthy symbiosis between certain politicians and journalists.

    Tales from Los Angeles.

Supermarkets are really, really expensive. Bread in the UK is about $1/loaf; in the US it's $2-4. Unbelievable. Not clear why bread is priced so differently.

Australian and NZ wine is much cheaper. Dog Point Marlborough Sauvignion Blanc is £18/bottle in the UK, and $12/bottle in the US.

    Yay!

No, that bit of the stream of drivel must be correct because it fits the desired narrative. Just ignore all the other stuff that is obviously the product of someone not thinking (for one reason for another) and accept this at face value despite the lack of any evidence...

(The above is steeped in sarcasm btw in case anyone couldn't tell)

He must be a Leave plant, it's all just too delicious. No mainstream politician is going to want to associate with a party whose leader calls the sitting PM a nazi.

He's not a leave plant, he's a close friend of George Osborne. More likely that the mental health "smears" made by some journalists and politicians are not actually smears - might also explain why C4 dropped their interview with him earlier today...

Alternatively The Butcher at Crystal Cove is awesome for cheese but the prices are eye watering

What makes his unpleasant attacks on Theresa May even more bonkers is that his reason for calling her a 'Nazi' seems to be that he thinks she intends that EU citizens resident in the UK will be 'forcibly fingerprinted'.

He apparently doesn't mind that, in order to get here in the first place, most of them would have been 'forcibly fingerpinted' already, in accordance with the Schengen rules for biometric passports.

James Chapman jumped several dozen sharks several days ago, long before he called Mrs May a Nazi. His Anti-Brexit crusade has therefore not been undermined by that particular tweet; there was already no credibility left to undermine, and equally-therefore there was no "threat" as far as ministers (or anybody else) was concerned.

Some credibility has, however, been lost by some people on Twitter who seemed to continue to take him seriously, or consider him some sort of "threat", long after it was obvious that he was merely a vacuous trollitanical megabooliak.

The problem with Brexit is simple

The argument boils down to is our parliament sovereign or are the people sovereign. The remainers believe the former, brexiters think the latter

There are some reports saying that Chapman is/was planning to launch his party in a rally in Parliament Square on 9th September. Is there any evidence that he (or anybody else) has made any attempt to register the name "The Democrats" with the Electoral Commission? If not, it would be very predictable and/or likely for someone else to do so, as a spoiler / blocker / placeholder, to prevent him from doing so.

Why worry about what he will do? Chapman wants to be a politician, the struggle now is whether politicians can override the people who are meant to be their masters.

    Understanding SJWs is easy.

Understanding why a simple concoction of wheat, yeast and heat is massively more expensive in one place than another is much less easy.

hmm well that is simple to answer, bread follows strict laws of supply and demand. Sustenance is low on the pyramid of needs. SJW's occur higher up the pyramid where they deal with first world problems only

You're not the only one with this observation:

    5. Bread
The aerated cake that passes for bread in this country is so unpleasant that you’ll probably end up relying on alternative starch sources, like pasta, rice and potatoes. But if you do stick with supermarket loaves, expect to pay around $4.99.

I live in Jakarta and the shop bread here can be excellent but expensive - so use a Panasonic bread maker - though finding decent bread flour in the US may be a challenge, as here. I use plain bread flour and add stuff - bran, nuts, seeds.

whats it like to be a resident of Trumpton rcs ?

Expensive bread, cheap New Zealand wine, terrible cheese.

People seem more exercised over Charlottesville on pb, than in LA.
PB is full of SJW's thse days what did you expect
I don't mean to sound obsessive, but why is bread three times the price in the US it is in the UK. And it's worse too.

    Why???
What has the price of bread to do with misguided people who only ever see things from one point of view?
    Understanding SJWs is easy.

Understanding why a simple concoction of wheat, yeast and heat is massively more expensive in one place than another is much less easy.

I seek wisdom, not easy answers.

Subsidies to farmers that grow wheat?

In the sandpit the bread comes in at $1.50, and it's made with flour that's been on a boat trip from Europe.

So someone finally got to James Champan and shut up his Twitter account.
Hope he gets the help he quite clearly needs.

Ha! Only 96 hours after he was proclaimed as the great new thing on this blog. I warned ardent Remainers off him and was accused of "wishful thinking".

    Turns out I was right.

Attacking people because they are bald doesn't endear Chapman to those who are.

I warned you. But you wanted to believe and like him because he was strongly anti-Brexit and a very firm Remainer.

Hate to say it Mike, but you were told that he wasn't good news for remain and that he would have no credibility.

Do you still think the people who said such things were 'pathetic'?

We all make mistakes but taking Chapman seriously was, well, shall we say courageous.

A few days old, but why haven't we heard more about this case? Particularly with customs arrangements such a topic for discussion.

Incidentally I had a very strange experience this morning. It was disturbing. And alarming. And made me wondering if the stress of waiting for results has sent me off my head.

I entirely agreed with something Jeremy Corbyn said.

    https://www.google.co.uk/amp/s/amp.lbc.co.uk/politics/parties/labour/jeremy-corbyn/silencing-big-ben-not-national-disaster-corbyn/

Incidentally I shall not be coming back on here today for a variety of reasons. Please do not assume if you don't hear from me that A-levels were a disaster, although I'm naturally nervous.

Good luck to those with family members getting results.

Agreed.. it'd be more of a disaster if the repairs weren't done properly and in a timely (ahem) fashion.

I imagine we'll be hearing plenty more about it. The Tory strategy is now perfectly clear: despite the election result, they're planning to walk out of the Brexit negotiations and will hope to do so having built a huge well of grievance against the EU. This case will be a part of that.

It's very expensive in Canada, too. Given how much wheat the US and Canada produce it's kind of strange it should be that way.

It is quite a substantial fine, but perhaps most serious is that UK customs seem implicated.

Any light touch customs arrangement post Brexit requires mutual trust and honesty. We may have blotted our copybook.
