Maybe the top three will each get about 27%.
  • Has anyone ever met a nice UKIPper?

I've met one or two who seemed like perfectly nice people.

    Thick as mince, mind you.

The Sunday Mirror has a go at UKIP.

Here is a flavour of the fruitcakes on offer:

We also discovered the anti-semitic postings of Joseph Quirk, UKIP candidate for Boldon Colliery Ward on South Tyneside Council.

He shares material claiming Jewish bankers financed Hitler, Soviet Communism, 9/11 and Israel, and says: “This doesn’t even scratch the surface...”

Quirk warns UKIP’s critics: “Watch this space any of you brain deficient doubters out there. I would personally cull the lot of you. You are an absolute disgrace to democracy AND the human race!!!”

Comrade Chancellor! You are quoting a Commie rag like the Mirror ???
    Do not worry, Comrade Sunilsky.

The Mirror Group is a wholly owned subsidiary of Komsomolskaya Pravda. I am only promoting our own investments.

But isn't being a Tory incompatible with being a Europhile?
Nope, these days it is positively vital. You won't get anywhere in the Tory party without being a a Europhile.
    Oh please.
Not sure what you are objecting to. Avery has already made it clear that the Tory party and its supporters believe that the facts don't matter, only the politics and it is acceptable to lie and smear ones opponents for political ends. I am simply taking him at his word.

Besides, as far as Cameron's inner circle and their sad coterie of sycophants and supporters are concerned it is true. Being a Eurosceptic makes you persona non grata and tantamount to being a member of the National Front. .
Iirc ConHome did surveys of Conservative MPs and made a big thing about how eurosceptic they had become, especially in 2010.

There is no recession, only "opportunities"

Rich double their wealth or foreign rich people move here, or both?

Though according to the BBC's two line summary, the Sunday Times contrasts this with falling wages for most, so perhaps the whole thing is a Milibandesque plot.

Has anyone ever met a nice UKIPper?

About seven years ago I started a new job and lodged with a couple in their granny flat whilst I saved up by a deposit. The couple were elderly and with health problems, but were always kind to me and ran the local Christian youth club in the nearby council estate. Lord knows how they did it, since they were not robust, but they did do it. Since I am a lefty liberal and they were small-c conservative you'd think us natural enemies, but we both had a curiosity about the world, we enjoyed our political discussions when they happened, and I recognised that they had earned what they had through hard work in difficult circumstances, with little help and less thanks. They were UKIP avant la lettre to their bones and I have no doubt they have UKIP posters on their walls for this election.

I don't want this interpreted as support: generally speaking I am pro-EU, pro-gay-marriage and anti smoking in pubs, so UKIP and I don't have much in common. But there's a difference between disagreement and contempt, and it's important to remember that many UKIP grass roots are decent hardworking people who've reached different conclusions. To adopt the Stephen Fry test of character, if you loaned them your lawnmower they'd return it cleaned and working.

This is why I got so annoyed when James Delingpole tried to become a UKIP MEP candidate: the grassroots deserved a shot over a johnny-come-lately trustafarian z-list sleb with less sense and worse teeth

I suspect they thought the same about you.
    And I'd agree with them
