What about all the references to ordering “pizza and grape soda “ in the files then?
I refer you to the link provided. I note that people do eat pizza.
That article does nothing other than explain pizzagate. It doesn’t refute it considering the references within the latest release. Was Epstein a fan of pizza on his Island or a fan of pizza?
Pizzagate claimed that "cheese pizza" was a code for child pornography. There are references in the Epstein files to pizza. Are they talking about pizza or are they using "pizza" as a code? We don't know. Nothing actually suggests that it's a code beyond this prior idea. Everything else about pizzagate remains nonsense, like the pizza restaurant still has no basement, despite this being a key part of the conspiracy. There is a suggestion that maybe some elements of the Epstein story leaked into or influenced the pizzagate conspiracy, but we don't know.
They’re clearly using “pizza” to refer to children. It’s a Code. Ignore the restaurant. That’s nothing to do with it. They’re shitposting “pizza”. Or if you truly believe the emails relate to actual actual pizza being delivered to the island, then well, I dunno.

In the event Starmer resigns what are the rules to nominate his successors or does 81 still apply ?
Cabinet appoints an interim leader.
I expect Lammy would be PM briefly. Although might be Cooper or Mahmoud.
3 absolute duffers with lammy rivalling Cooper as biggest duffer of all time.
Unless it was Lammy who made the Trump deals, and not Mandelson. Lammy got Starmer a D-Day invitation (when Rishi bailed) and hit it off with JD Vance. Lammy might not have been to Cambridge but he did go to Harvard which is in Cambridge, Massachusetts.
He's also a thin skinned boor who lacks the composure to be PM. Watching him deputise at PMQs was embarrassing and he allows himself to be rattled too easily.
You mean he used to raise his voice and eviscerate Jenrick, Philp or Pritti of Tel Aviv
He allowed himself to lose his temper when being questioned by the expert inquisitor that is James Cartlidge. If it wasn't for Cartlidge's incompetence then he would have been trapped into telling the House at lie. That's not the kind of temperament the PM should have.
Christ he'll be throwing Thatchers hand bag next.
I'd actually welcome a PM who every now and again stopped pussy footing about and gave a straight answer

I actually want Starmer to last a bit longer now, not to just pop off and then everyone pretends 'a line has been drawn' and it's business as usual. All this stuff needs to come out, Blair too, and Starmer - they are all dodgy as all get out and should be revealed as such. This is an Epstein enema for politics.
It needs the expenses treatment - a massive purge. Brown is being very noisy, i'd thoroughly enjoy his reputation recombusting.
Who are you purging? There's no evidence that Mandelson's possibly illegal behaviours involved any other UK politicians. Starmer made a mistake appointing him as US ambassador, but that appears to be incompetence, not dodginess. Do you have anything to suggest Brown was dodgy? He was a poor PM, but dodgy?
You could say the same about Nathan Gill and his illegal behaviour but that doesn’t stop people linking to it.
Hopefully labours impartial, and not at all political, investigation into foreign influence in our politics will cover all, parties and include new labour.
I mean it's not as if Starmer has slipped his security to spend the night in an Italian Castle with the KGB and turned up pissed and incoherent at a remote Train Station is it.
Can you just imagine the Mail, Telegraph etc
How are the prosecutions of those chaps settling light to Skiers house coming along?

I'd forgotten they were doing that. Oh dear, that's an anti-Reform strategem that has the potential to go rogue and sink its fangs into Sir Mauritius's fleshy behind. Though he probably won't be in Number 10 to be affected by its findings.
Yes, I wonder if now the report will be ‘delayed’ and then quietly forgotten. It was always a potential hostage to fortune given New Labours links with some Oligarchs such as Deripaska and the Tories links too. In 2022 Labour condemned the Tories for taking Russian money.

With the Super Bowl tomorrow, I feel I ought to warn some sensitive types that, if they watch it, they may see and hear things they don't want to:
In many ways, America has grown more secular over the past century. Fewer Americans belong to a church or attend regularly. Prayer is no longer part of public schooling. Commerce doesn’t stop on Sundays. One area of American life, however, has bucked the trend. Major sporting events such as the Super Bowl have become more, not less, religious over time — changing how Americans see both faith and sports.
Today athletes are some of the most prominent Christians in public life, far exceeding any pastor or priest. And the interviews offered at the end of sporting events may be the only time many Americans will hear a proclamation of faith. . . . . One hundred years later, Christians will be prominently featured during the biggest sports Sunday of the year. Seahawks receiver Jaxon Smith-Njigba and Patriots quarterback Drake Maye have already used the run-up to the game to share their faith in Christ.
"it's not the first time a man has called me their worst nightmare."

Here's another from 2011 - 2018 which disappeared into 'procedures':
Labour has been accused of "dragging its feet" over an investigation into the way it handled a rape allegation by an activist.
Last year Bex Bailey waived her anonymity to say she was discouraged from reporting the 2011 attack, and called for changes to the way such cases are handled.
She has now told BBC Radio 4's PM the party needed to "get the ball rolling".
Labour said procedures had been improved including a new helpline.
A party source also said a rule change would be considered when the ruling National Executive Committee meets on Tuesday.
In October last year Ms Bailey told the BBC she had been told by a senior party official that reporting what happened to her could "damage" her and that she was given no advice on what she should do next.
As @lukedepulford and @MsMelChen have pointed out, Pater Mandelson had deep links to the Chinese regime.
Over many years he's been the leading voice for the CCP in the UK.
A quick 🧵
I’m sure the rushed Labour enquiry into Foreign interference in our politics will go into this in forensic detail as well as looking at the background as to why that trial collapsed and this Chinese agent. I’m sure they will get to the bottom of it, and all of the other foreign influence, in the next three months.
Is Starmer an idiot for bringing Mandelson into government of his own volition, or was he forced to do it by the circumstances by which he achieved his position?

He suspended Rennard straight away. That's not kicking it into the long grass.
2013 to today is not ‘straight away’ and why did it take these victims making a fuss over his parties double standards when Ed D criticised why Mandelson was still in the Lords. It was only done as his hand was forced.

It’s horrendous. It shouldn’t be a case of people saying my party good other parties bad, same with foreign interference in our politics. It all needs purging and the problem is men and men in power and influence.
Is Starmer an idiot for bringing Mandelson into government of his own volition, or was he forced to do it by the circumstances by which he achieved his position?
We all know very wealthy people on islands dont have chefs, they phone dominos
You think the private chef can't make pizza?
He wouldnt have it brought in which is what much of the excessive discussion of pizza in the emails is about
Lots of the references are just to eating pizza, with no mention of its origin. Would you like to give some examples that you think prove your case?
Not really, no. A known nonce and sex trafficker using known codewords with his contacts speaks for itself

Gordon Brown brought him into govt, was that the same reason and he clearly doesn’t like him now.
I would think the fact that Mandelson & Epstein were strategizing how to lobby Brown and Darling for big banks etc. suggests B & D were trying to look out for the public interest.
Otherwise there's no need to lobby. You just invite them round to the island and get what you want.

This is brave from the leader of the party which, in the seventies when Jeremy T. (RIP Rinka) was in charge and it protected Cyril Smith and Clement Freud. Surely they should go to the Police not the party for it to investigate as and when it sees fit.

Grape soda !
Sounds vile.
Yeah. Yeah, it is. But we’ll go on pretending this isn’t as bad as it really is. Because that’s safer for all of us.
The International Bobsleigh & Skeleton Federation's ban on the British Bobsleigh & Skeleton Association skeleton helmets was upheld by CAS on Saturday.
BBSA's helmets were found to have an aerodynamic advantage outside of current IBSF rules.
Last night I watched Workington Town Rugby League v St Helens Two leagues between them Saints won 90 pts to 2 away from home and only 4 pts for a try. That's how it should be done. England were barely at half pace... should have scored at least 60pts against a very poor Wales side
Mamdani is very good looking and has charisma in spades . Ed sadly doesn’t look the part and was a handmaiden of Brexit . If he hadn’t done a Judas on his brother , David would have won the leadership , Cameron wouldn’t have got his majority and there would have been no EU referendum .
It’s very clear that Starmer is far more invested in personal promises he made than the ones that he made to his party or his country
He’s kept his word to Rantzen and Sands, and no doubt others. His Labour leadership pledges were betrayed immediately. His manifesto promises are long forgotten
If Starmer were to announce his resignation, why wouldn't he stay in post until his successor was elected?
Surely that removes the need for an interim leader.
He would be a caretaker PM for the 6 weeks or so to find his replacement
When he goes what happens to Reeves and who replaces her if she goes ?
Darren Jones is plausible but who else ?
We have a high tax, high spend, authoritarian approach to govt from Labour. That will only get worse. I cannot see any replacement in Labour, or of the other party leaders, being an improvement on Sturmer.
I agree with much of what Cyclefree and DavidL have said, re powerful people (almost always men) holding significant influence and doing what they want in private, with the mentality they can get away with it. The most stupid thing was to keep such a detailed record online and in photos of all their affairs.
The longer this rumbles on, and is drip fed into the public domain, the more revulsion there is against the idea of positions of power and entitlement gives these people to get away with whatever sordid adventures they feel like.
One thing to note about some of the key players - Mandelson, Prince/ex Prince A and Maxwell, is they all come from families which have or had either significant wealth and privilege. Mandelson's grandfather was high up in the Labour party. I wonder what he would have thought of his grandson's behaviour?
It feels to me the tide of public opinion is turning on this. If it rumbles on, it will continue to have the same cut through as the MP expenses scandal - which is why I think Mr Starmer is toast, post May elections at the very latest
Even the Observer has apparently done a comical problem page of Starmer answering questions about people's relationships tomorrow. He has become a figure of ridicule. And when the Observer is sticking the boot into a Labour PM things are bad.
Having put Starmer in my PB competition entry and doubled down on saying he will survive this in the last week I am considering restricting my prognostications to the England cricket team.
If Starmer were to announce his resignation, why wouldn't he stay in post until his successor was elected?
Surely that removes the need for an interim leader.
He would be a caretaker PM for the 6 weeks or so to find his replacement
The Labour Party Rules say that if the leader resigns the Deputy Leader (Powell) becomes leader. (Corbyn dodged that because there was no deputy leader when he resigned.)
That doesn’t of course mean she would become PM and on the only occasion when a Labour leader resigned while PM and a contested leadership election took place, Wilson stayed on as PM.
Is Starmer an idiot for bringing Mandelson into government of his own volition, or was he forced to do it by the circumstances by which he achieved his position?
It was entirely Starmer's call. If he was influenced by McSweeney that decision was his choice too. It was, as Gove suggested at the time, a work of genius in order to handle Trump. Twelve months later it wasn't such a good idea.
When 55% think Starmer should resign now, vs. 23% thinking he should stay, his personal ratings are falling through the floor with people saying Farage would do better...
...yet VI for Labour remains at a (relatively) buoyant 23% vs. the Tories on 16%, then perhaps something has gone a bit wrong with the weighting?

Them's the breaks.
I thought it was an idea that made sense, for all I was no admirer of Mandelson’s character and knew he lacked judgement. Not only somebody who might smarm Trump but kept him away from the UK.
It has however been clear I was, remarkably, still labouring under an illusion about his personal morals.
I should have realised after all these years if Gove was in favour it was likely to be a disaster.
