Perhaps they don't like Englishmen abroad and want them not to come back. Incredibly.
I think more that they are so used to weekly civil unrest its a reflex action for the plod in Paris. I don't think the idiots who sit down on the motorway would last very long.
You do know that the gilets jaunes regularly blocked major roads, fuel depots, even runways, right?
My point was the French are a lot hardier and experienced of the standard French police reaction when it comes to protesting. The Gideon Smyth-Jones lot who glue themselves to roads here I think would get a nasty shock at how willing the police are to deploy the tear gas if they tried that in centre of Paris, rather than being asked if they take hemp milk or oat milk with their tea by our police.
Boris return to imperialism policy isn't even that, its a review to see if they could be allowed to be used (without the metric being dominant). Which I am sure will say nah don't bother.
The government will launch a review on when and where imperial measurements can be used, to coincide with the Queen's Jubilee weekend.
