I think that there‘s level of income at which one is a net contributor to society, and immigrants individually should either be earning more than this level or provide a key skill for which demand has been identified. Selling the Big Issue, while claiming tax credits and housing benefit in central London does not meet this… -
Re: Sunak’s Departure Schedule: Factoring in the Leadership Fight – politicalbetting.com
Yes and its still not freefall. Over any reasonable view of time, house prices are massively, massively overvalued relative to wages. House prices are higher today than they were at the start of 2020, let alone 2010 or 2000. But not on a supply and demand level, because our supply has been artificially capped relative to… -

Which highlights the importance of Trump's charisma to the whole MAGA operation. Trump has been spouting similar charmless bollocks for over a decade. But he does it in a way that has got him to the White House twice. Take away the rizz (as I understand the young people call it), and the curtain falls away pretty quickly.… -
Re: Biden should take notice of the polling – politicalbetting.com
We have also (by "we," I refer to Government flailing around) managed to do our damndest to discourage people from wanting to support any building by pissing all over them when they do. I've probably mentioned it before, but in my local area, we tried one of these Neighbourhood Development Plans. Basically, calling out on… -

Andrew Tate doesn’t have his liberty. He is under pre-trial judicial control. Until recently, he was under house arrest. Although that has now been lifted, he still has to remain in his local area. His ability to earn a non-Internet-based living has been severely curtailed since his arrest by due Romanian law. -

This may be an FTP (not sure). Switzerland started phasing out their £30 per annum insurance and decals from 2010/12 ish, because they assessed that the costs heavily outweighed any benefits. We have a far better system in the UK, where for most people (not sure of exact number) 3rd Party insurance for cycling comes free… -
Re: Even if Boris’s No 10 apartment refurbishment is funded by a charity a large slice of it will effect
The one that has been baffling me this week has been the "Irishman and a Dead Horse" story. A bloke perched on a recently dead horse whilst he was making a phone call, as there was nowhere else to perch. And ...? Yet the entire industry has put on dust and ashes, and gone into pre-emptive self-hating meltdown like a… -
Re: Could one man win both Strictly Come Dancing and the next London mayoral election?
I've been here most of the last 20 years. There has always been a strong anti-Party mood.. It became darker and angrier after the GFC in 2008 and then with the EU Referendum but this has never been a site which has supported one party but rather not supported any of them from time to time with certain parties (usually the… -

Bolsover has cheap housing and the M1 running through it so an increasing number of commuters north to Sheffield or south to Nottingham-Derby. There are also new housing developments bringing in outsiders: ' Imagine a stunning new home in a picturesque location with every convenience nearby. That’s the idyllic setting of… -

Cutting the IRS funding isn't a tax cut; it's deliberately encouraging tax fraud, while pretending to save money. This from a House Speaker who has been intimately involved in the investigation of a private individual... for tax fraud. And proposes, as Speaker, to continue wasting the time of the House of Representatives… -

Tactical voting was in vogue when the election was called but all seems to have gone quiet on that front, presumably as the Mrs S has already been round to measure the curtains. A lack of tactical voting might save a few Conservatives in 3-way marginals. (And it has been suggested Mrs Starmer would rather live in their… -

Yep and he won't get it through sales of his personal memoir. He may get a mildly decent advance but the actual books won't sell. No one wants to read a liar's spin and self-justification these days. Biographies about this turbulent time might do better but non-fiction generally struggles these days. The internet is such a… -

Late in the day, but still three hours of sunshine left in the day here, today’s Rawnsley: The time he has devoted to international relations and the relative success of his efforts has been a double surprise to Starmer-watchers. His calm and collected approach to crises has won plaudits even from political opponents.… -

Tory politicians? I presume you mean Tories in the sense of Blairites? This has been going on ten years or more. The Levels aren't floodplain; they are reclaimed land. Historically, they have been maintained by government (originally mostly local) and by locals cooperating with government doing things like clearing… -
