Not to sound like a nervous nancy, but don’t you wonder whether there might be something to infer from both Biden and Trump’s white houses, and all of Old Europe, being consistently nervous of Putin escalating? As it is, his army has got bogged down in the mud for nearly four years, he’s burned through decades worth of… -
Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » What would Labour really do about Brexit?
Mr Tokyo, It's not car wash employees who worried the voters of Boston, and I doubt they were much of a factor elsewhere. A few snippets from the BBC website just before the referendum … certainly not a pro-Brexit source. "Boston is one of the most extreme examples in Britain of a town affected by recent EU immigration. …… -

Totally. This Dumb/Smart USA/Israel axis is a far bigger threat to the peace and prosperity of the region and the wider world than the Islamic Republic of Iran, repulsive regime that they are. They were miles off a nuclear weapon and a successor to the foolishly ripped up Obama Deal could have been done. Why Donald Trump… -

Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » The scale of LAB’s lead in the parliament’s first polls is unp
Only 2 months ago Labour were polling below 30% and Corbyn was seen as a disaster. All the Tories needed to do was call an election to get a large majority. The reasons for this huge turnaround are loss of trust in Theresa May, arrogance of Tories taking electorate for granted and more people thinking Tories are… -

The financial transactions of Ian Lavery have been noted on PB previously. Has there been any mention of this today: ' MP Ian Lavery received £165,000 from the 10-member trade union he ran. The regulator found that that the Northumberland Provident and Benevolent fund had lent Mr Lavery £72,500 to buy a house in 1994. 13… -

Evening all :) Two very different polls from Freshwater and YouGov. Jenrick's antics made sure the defection of 20 councillors from the Conservatives to Reform (moving Reform ahead of the Greens in councillor numbers) didn't get the attention it might otherwise have received. As someone who lives in an area with few "white… -

WaPo (via Seattle Times) - House Freedom Caucus votes to oust conservative Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene The hard-right House Freedom Caucus voted to remove Rep. Is it that unique? There are multiple classes of inflation, but for too long only inflation in goods and services have been all the Bank of England concerned itself with. Despite the fact the number one cost in a household's budget is not food, its not electricity, its not gas, its not TVs or Sky or mobile phones. The main… -

Rentoul does make a fair point which I have yet to see anyone address: "But there is a reason why this popular policy has not been pursued by the desperate-to-please governments of Blair, Brown and Cameron. All the houses that can be built in places where people want houses have been built. The rest is: 1 green belt, 2… -

I largely agree but foresee a few issues: How would you propose dealing with the not uncommon situation where a parent leaves their residence to an adult child who has been their carer. Presumably house has to be sold to pay the income tax charge which for a £500k house would result in a £225k tax and NI bill for the… -

"Spline" (real name unknown) was a predictor who posted to HPC[2] in the Noughties. He found a relationship between house prices and Bank of England mortgage approvals that could predict house prices about three months out. He predicted the 2008 crash and the 2009 partial recovery but has not been heard from for many… -

So Labour's mass immigration strains the housing stock and NHS to breaking point. Solution to tax housing, primarily owned by the indigenous for whom the rise in price of said houses has been one of the very few compensations for mass immigration, in order to prop up healthcare system. Stupid and evil. -
Re: A LAB majority becomes the election betting favourite – politicalbetting.com
The prices people have been paying for properties round here has astounded me, people just seem to lose the plot when buying houses and have the daft idea that house prices will always rise when all evidence shows that they don't. Houses need to be seen as a place to live not an asset to make money on. -
Re: If Lab doesn't succeed perhaps the voters will turn to somebody other than the Tories?
Spain has a major housing crisis in many of the places Brits want to live and this is literally the only policy they can implement that isn't build more houses that looks like they are doing something. So it's going to upset a few Brits who are trying to buy, but probably won't have real impact beyond that. But something… -

And now it seems the Dems have realised they messed up. Firstly a few moderate Dems in January: A handful of moderate Democrats say they would be willing to save the new Republican House speaker, Mike Johnson, if hard-line conservatives move to oust him from power as they did his predecessor, Kevin McCarthy. “Yes, we would… -
Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » There’s no way that UKIP should be betting favourite to win
There is a certain house style at pb.com that can take a little while to navigate around. It also has quite a lot of back history that is frequently referenced by those in the know. This history can often be tracked back through posters who have been commenting for a number of general elections, and indeed, quite a few who…
