But that isn't what coalition has done. The Tories have not moved closer to LD principles in the slightest. It has been a case of horse-trading. It has worked at times and not worked at others. Having spent 5 years saying 'We need to do this to clear up the mess Labour left' and then jumping ship to joining Labour - it… -

Well certainly the view here is that The Game's Up for the debates; http://blogs.spectator.co.uk/coffeehouse/2015/03/david-cameron-has-just-chickened-out-of-tv-debates-while-pretending-not-to/ Apparently whoever is excluded from the "sevensome" will launch legal action and the "hour glass" is about to run out of sand...… -
Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » First Winfrey – Trump polling has Oprah 10 points ahead
Quite. But I do not believe that Labour will spend and improve. Because they seem to think that spending is a good in itself not as a means to an end i.e. good schools or proper social care or whatever. I feel that their priority is simply having a large publicly owned body with lots of well paid jobs in it and that the… -

Why continually misrepresent the truth. They said their aim was to eliminate the structural deficit. Further analysis by the OBR later showed that was bigger than first projected. Rather than ruin the economy by sticking to an out of date policy the govt extended the period by 2 years but at the same time added to it by… -
Re: politicalbetting.com » Blog Archive » Not surprisingly YouGov finds that on EU people trust thos
Yes they are. And no, they aren't. The arguments from authority have achieved one objective: the shutting down of the "open, outward looking" LEAVE argument. Prior to the campaign and for some years prior, LEAVE had put forward the possibility of better deals elsewhere. But whether you think those deals are real options or… -

Re: Starmer’s approval rating no change at -2% – politicalbetting.com
Thing is, Starmer has been criticised by some on here for lack of political nouse, but today has shown him doing the right thing, the thing that Blair would have done. You can say it’s pressuring the police, and it’s true, it is. But it will concentrate their minds somewhat in a way that doesn’t work for Johnson. -

Something a lot of people have missed. Salmond has suggested agreement that Orkney, Shetland and the Western Isles can have their own referendum to stay or not under Holyrood Government, go under Norway or stay under Westminster. There is another option. Go Independent! This will of course, cause severe anal discomfort to… -

I’m not predicting “disaster”. I am noting that British trade policy, post-Brexit, is not on course with promises made by Leave. This gives me no satisfaction. British growth has been fucked for some time and any sane person who looks at the situation points to Planning / Housing Infrastructure Industrial Policy Regional… -
Re: The odds on Starmer for next PM move to a point where he’s now a value bet – politicalbetting.com
In case you didn't notice we've had more than a decade of austerity, as a result benefits have been frozen and recipients have to find money for council tax and rent from the payments that should pay for food (and other essentials like electricity), because housing benefit and council tax benefit have been cut. -

Communications Act? It's rare for that to be used for an event organiser on FB. Though I think I can recall a couple before. A MAN has been arrested and charged for allegedly organising a Hogmanay party on Nicola Sturgeon’s street. The 33-year-old was nicked yesterday under the Communications Act 2003 after allegedly… -

https://news.sky.com/story/uk-weather-this-summer-on-course-to-be-one-of-the-warmest-on-record-met-office-says-12391738 As a horse racing follower when throughout the summer the going has been heavy and numerous meetings have been called off I am surprised by the comment "overall 2021's summer "is certainly looking drier… -

The Tories and the Tory press did not focus on Jezza's spending programme because there was nothing much to go at there. If their 'so-called' (as you put it) costing had been riddled with holes you can be sure the Tories and r/w press would have banged on about it endlessly. As it was, it was the Tories who pledged £8bn… -

Woohoo, made it to Ukraine! That was fun, more than three hours at the border but we got through in the end, only for the coach wifi to fail to connect to the local network, so had to grab a local SIM when we stopped. Still a couple of hours to go, on a trip that’s so far been 41 hours since leaving home. It turns out… -

As an aside, I think if Boris Johnson had gone for the "time limited backstop" idea from the start, I think it would probably have passed the Houses of Parliament. It would have been enough of May's deal for all those who backed it to continue to do so. And it would have been enough to bring the ERG into line. -

The same happened with Thatcher of course and the famous "no such thing as society" quote. Listen to the full quote and nobody reasonable could disagree with it. Take it out of context and its twisted to mean the opposite of what she was saying. I think we have gone through a period when too many children and people have… -

Having recently built a house I can vouch for the fact that it always costs more than you think. And takes far longer than planned (though Covid didn't help!) But, despite everything, project managing it has been one of the best experiences of my life - I loved seeing how buildings are made and thinking about how the…
