Rachel apparently had a man heckle her for twenty five minutes yesterday and his extremely rude behaviour was congratulated by Nigel Farage. Her reply was exemplary. Can someone tell me what anyone sees in that repulsive disgusting vulgarian.? I can't. Worth watching on Ch4 News.

That's the real personality of hard core Reform right there. Nasty bunch. Very nasty.
Steve Bray waves and says Hi and then bellows at a random Tory MP.
He's a pain in the pipe. But I don't recall him being lionised by any party leader.

Ah but wasn't that before he went all weird?

    Steve, I mean, not Ed.
They are literally holding placards screaming the Lib Dem GE Brexit policy - REVOKE
Shock horror. That was the policy.
It is still shocking, in retrospect, that one of the "major" political parties campaigned on a policy of completely ignoring and anulling the single biggest democratic mandate in British history. 17.4m Leave votes. The biggest vote for anything ever, and of course the winning vote

What do the fucking Liberal DEMOCRATS think that would have done to DEMOCRACY? Whyever bother voting again? If posh people don't like your vote, they will simply and openly ignore it, and ignore you

Electoral turnout would have plunged below 30% thereafter, and that would have been the end of British democracy

Anyone who avowed for a second vote including Remain - and anyone who went for Revoke - should go away and die of shame and should certainly be excluded from further political roles
It was a vibe position to try and get hard Remainer votes and a few more seats. They knew they wouldn't be in government and have to do it. Their plan A was 2nd vote. Then Labour pivoted to that which pushed the LDs to the extremity.

    Just done some digging

Burnham was another second voter. Happy to annul the Brexit vote, without ever enacting it

Reform should absolutely hammer him on this. Democrat my fucking arse. Man of the people, lol

    He's, like, a lifelong careerist.

    We all already know this.

It's whether or not people hate Starmer enough not to care.
Might be worth a couple of thousand votes tho, who knows? It's a very Leave constituency

BIG NIGE, if you are reading: Burnham wanted a Second Vote. He wanted to ignore 17.4m Leave voters
Burnham has a Labour problem. Or really a 'progressive' problem. Women with willies, second votes, energy policy (oil from Russia not Aberdeen), immigration/asylum. He is 100% cookie cutter Labour on all those issues, and any (or all) could prove toxic. He of course has the option to decisively break from these positions, but that will give him problems in the subsequent leadership vote.

I still think he can do it. Not so much due to personal affection for him (though that does exist) but through long-standing Labour supporters going back to their comfort zone and choosing someone who plays all the old hits and gets a good tune out of the piano.

I don't know what will happen or really what I want to happen.
I'm on the opposite side of the argument on all those issues you've listed. Maybe I should be the Labour candidate?
If you vote for Andy Burnham the only thing you can be sure of is that you'll get Andy Burnham.

Starmer to hit the campaign trail for Burnham

He really really really doesn't want Burnham back in the HoC does he.
Given the circumstances I can hardly think of a more understandable sentiment.

Tuchel is about to exceed expectations, if eredivisie goals are "dog" goals what are Saudi pro league goals? Mayfly?

Toney was a contender a few years ago, but apart from potentially being better acclimatised, the Saudi pro league isn't preparation for the World Cup.

England are really strong in some positions (hence Palmer not going, given Rogers and Bellingham will be) but weak in others. Apart from Kane (and this is why his match fitness is absolutely critical) the strikers are rather second-tier.
England have failed to produce top quality strikers for quite a few years now. Its getting a bit like England fast bowlers, Anderson and Broad were great even as they aged, in fact felt like got better with age, a bit like Kane. But the cupboard is very bare outside of that.

What young England strikers are playing in the EPL at the moment that look like they could be a superstar? I can't think of one.
Swap you Che Adams for Solanke?
Isn't that a bit like saying I'll swap you Rishi Sunak for Keir Starmer?

I don't think these guys need to worry, most of us will be watching the world cup at home this summer

Not even any badminton at the commonwealth games this time, I'd have thought it would have been one of the cheaper sports to host

If there ever was a TV drama to watch and to wake up people's consciences - far more than Adolescence - it is "Believe Me" about John Worboys, the taxi driver rapist and the fight so many women had to have, ably assisted by the lawyer, Harriet Wistrich, an absolute heroine, to bring him to justice.

It is not easy viewing, mind. But it brings home the reality of what such crimes do to women and how hard they have to fight afterwards for effective justice. On ITV now.

I’ve heard it’s incredibly good and rarely in crime drama puts the viewer in the position of the women victims which is why it won’t have the same effect sadly. People rightly get angry about the post office and water but not remotely angry enough about what could happen to their mothers, sisters or daughters. I hope so much I am wrong but it hasn’t received the same traction as the programmes about Post office and Water scandals.
It hasn't had the same traction, you're right. Much like the BBC drama about three girls also raped - Three Girls - which also got little traction. Or Honour - about an "honour killing" and written by Gwyneth Hughes, who wrote the Post Office drama. Meanwhile crime dramas where women victims are horribly murdered fill our schedules. Oh sure, there will be the heroic detectives - with a woman in the team - solving everything. But TV prefers showing women as victims rather than showing their perspective.

    That's why I mentioned it.

And don't get me started on those who failed to intervene.

Those charged with protecting children preferred a quiet life, and looked the other way.

    Same old, same old.
They do appear to be quite selective. Some cases they try to take away your children for misgendering one of their classmates, but in others seem to have little trouble ignoring or batting away very legitimate concerns of abuse.
No child has ever been taken away for misgendering a classmate. Don’t be silly.

The Sky story is horrific. At least some justice has now arrived.
Such stories are not confined to the UK.
This was reported from Florida a couple of days ago.

    https://www.miamiherald.com/news/local/crime/article315443888.html
..The twins and their older brother Tal Alexander were convicted in March of multiple federal sex crimes, including sex trafficking. But a Miami Herald investigation found their pattern of drugging, raping, and videotaping their abuse of girls began decades earlier – when they were as young as 15 and still in high school.

Six women told the Herald they were raped or assaulted by one or more of the brothers between 2002 and 2004, while the three brothers were attending Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School near Aventura. One spoke to police, and despite her accusations, police did not interview all the boys, and the school appears to have taken no disciplinary action.

The women said the assaults were rampant, and occurred at teen hangouts devoid of parental supervision, at the homes of the Alexander brothers or their friends. Half of the women spoke to the FBI about what happened to them when they were younger.

The women were students at Krop, a large Miami-Dade public high school, or nearby Miami Country Day School, a private school. One was in eighth grade when a group of boys, including Tal, “dragged” her into a bedroom, she said. She believes she was drugged.

“It just seems like the adults completely f—--- abdicated their responsibility,” that woman told the Herald.

In the 2003 report, which notes that Krop’s principal was informed after a school resource officer called law enforcement, police did not interview the brothers, and the State Attorney’s Office declined to press charges...
Yes, there is a subset of men who are total shits. And if they think that there are no consequences for bad beheviour will act in ways that are almost incomprehensible.
These are the sort of men who joined Sturmbrigade Dirlewanger. If they had ever possessed any form of humanity, it had left them long ago. I remember having this discussion with @Leon_VotedForStarmer where we agreed we had both met murderers, and they were not necessarily terrible people. A murder might be committed in a moment of madness (premeditated murder is different of course).

But, sex criminals of this type? They are simply purely evil.
What do we do about the judges who let teenage rapists walk out of court? These kids learn at a very young age that there’s little actual consequence for serious sexual offences.

    https://www.dailymail.com/news/article-15836845/Teenage-gang-lured-schoolgirl-15-underpass-laughed-filmed-raping-handed-youth-rehabilitation-orders.html
‘The judge also praised the boys for their conduct during the trial, saying 'I think of you as very young and none of you have been in any big trouble before.

'You have all done very well with the restrictions put in place throughout the trial.’
It's almost as if the judge considers rape to be a minor pecadillo, rather than an extremely serious crime.

Imagine how the victim must feel, to learn that the judge sympathises far more with the rapists than he does with her.
Look at the BBC article from the other day painting those disgusting men selling their daughters into sex slavery and child marriage as the victims.

People in positions of authority have never taken these crimes seriously and look at what it has resulted in time and again in this country. Scandal after scandal and nothing seems to get done about it. As I said earlier, child rape is the crime I'd consider bringing the death penalty back for. People who can do that to children are beyond redemption.
The mitigating circumstances, according to the judge (admittedly as channelled by the Daily Mail, so massive health warning there) are:

    ADHD
    Anxiety
    Low Intelligence
    Traveller Community
    Under 16

    No, me neither.
Rapes and sexual assaults are surging across Europe. England and Wales has the highest recorded rate of rape in the world

We can all have a guess why this is happening in multiple western countries, simultaneously, what is not in question is that it is WOMEN who vote, in large numbers, for left wing governments that want open borders

    What can you do?

I have found myself a bit exasperated with the relentless crime drama with women as the murder victims. It seems like an easy trope but they never really go into why, it’s always glamourised or made into some poverty porn. “The Fall” is a prime example. It was a huge budget and quite “glamorous” where Gillian Anderson was being her sexy self and the killer was “hot” and it was so sexualised but also it made you have a weird sympathy for the antagonist instead of just being clearly “this man is a murdering arsehole.”

It’s a deep societal issue where I have come to think that there is a concept that “women will just get murdered by some strange men”.

I’m no feminist but I have three wonderful sisters and millions of nieces and female friends and I just don’t think there is enough understanding that for men “it could happen to you”, as in it could be a woman you love, care about, know. It’s always someone else, a sex worker, someone in a complicated relationship where “it’s sort of going to happen.”

Anyway, talking bollocks as back from a night out.

How do you know he isn't one of the lizard-men-in-people-suits?

You can tell by how light reflects from their eyes. That’s why I always carry an ever-ready torch (one of those yellow ones with the black bits near the end) when meeting politicians.

This is the British Crime Survey data:

    https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/articles/sexualoffencesprevalenceandtrendsenglandandwales/yearendingmarch2025
Interesting trend, is that drop to 2013 indicate peak "woke", followed by the angry Brexit campaign and leave vote making some people think it was OK to touch women up again as well as be openly racist?

Noted that rate of rape and serious sexual assault seems fairly constant.

I used to know an escort (purely platonically) who said her ideal crime drama would start with two escorts standing over the body of a dead detective and commenting disparagingly in a mirror of the regular procedural.

BBC R4 did some quite good dramatisations of https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Guido_Brunetti_novels which dealt with similar things, but obviously they're not available on the iPlayer.

This is the British Crime Survey data:

    https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/articles/sexualoffencesprevalenceandtrendsenglandandwales/yearendingmarch2025
Interesting trend, is that drop to 2013 indicate peak "woke", followed by the angry Brexit campaign and leave vote making some people think it was OK to touch women up again as well as be openly racist?

Noted that rate of rape and serious sexual assault seems fairly constant.
The case reported in the Guardian was being discussed to day among a group of us - all women. When a crime like this gets a non-custodial sentence and judges talking about boys not being criminalised for committing crimes - very serious crimes - the universal reaction amongst us was "why would women bother reporting to the police".

And that is the problem with all such statistics. When women can see around us every day so many examples of women's experiences simply not being taken seriously by the authorities why go to those very same authorities. It must also be disheartening for the police. And for boys it sends out a very clear message and it is not the message that the Adolescence groupies want to be heard or the one boys need to hear.

That case is shocking, particularly now as it'd be expected that Judges' attitudes had improved over the last couple of decades. The austerity-driven collapse of the criminal justice system is also terrible, the unacceptably long waits for sexual offences to come to trial has resulted both in a disincentive to report and conviction rate.

However, the statistics reference are the National Crime Survey not police-recorded crime, which should be independent of whether the crime is reported to the police.
There is a discussion to be had on whether the NCS is accurate for serious offences but it shouldn't be affected by fluctuations in victims reporting crime.

There is a misguided idea that chaps who went to all boys schools have a horrific attitude to women because they have no contact with them. It’s bollocks because we all have friends who are female, sisters etc etc and we socialise and drink and snog and shag each other from a young age.

There is however surely an argument that if you are in a society where you can’t drink, have pre marital sex, take drugs and you get to your late teens or early twenties and are frustrated that you can’t have sex, can’t find a wife, don’t get fucked up with your mates, then you arrive in a society where women are having fun, getting drunk, wearing clothes that look, if you are from a repressed society make them look like “they want it” then you are going to either lose the plot, change your world view or impose your existing prejudices .

It’s inevitable that if you import young men from oppressed societies to the west then women are under threat when they go about their lives in ways where generally men from their societies accept they aren’t meat to be used and aren’t wife material.

Starmer to hit the campaign trail for Burnham

He really really really doesn't want Burnham back in the HoC does he.
Given the circumstances I can hardly think of a more understandable sentiment.
Let's be honest Burnham has been campaigning to be PM since shortly after July 24 if not even earlier

I wouldn't have thought cheaper theme park tickets was a priority for the country at the moment, but maybe the government knows better.

Perhaps for the promotion of staycation in the light of aviation fuel free grounded aircraft and otherwise struggling homegrown holiday options. A promotion of domestic business, the increase in footfall to the park itself plus local accommodation and hospitality revenue upticks. It's not dissimilar to the notion of "Eat Out to Help Out". Oh wait...

First, and most important: Thanks to Cyclefree for her unwavering attention to these crimes, and the victims.

Second, I believe that we can expand her argument, as the accusations against former Seattle mayor Ed Murray illustrate:
Five people have accused Murray of sexual abuse.[3] In April 2017, a lawsuit[22] claimed that he "raped and molested" a teenager in 1986, paying cash for sex to a high-school dropout addicted to crack cocaine.[23] Two other men made similar allegations in 2007, including a foster son who said Murray sexually assaulted him in 1984 while he was a teenager. He had spoken with a child welfare investigator and detective at the time, and persuaded the investigator that Murray had sexually abused him, but no charges were filed.[24][25]

Through a spokesman, Murray denied the allegations, describing them as falsehoods intended to prevent his reelection.[26] Later, Murray's lawyer said that Murray had undergone a medical examination that disproved a claim about his genitals, arguing the lawsuit should be dropped.[27]

On September 12, 2017, Murray's cousin accused him of sexual abuse when the two teens shared a bedroom in the mid-1970s. Later that day, Murray denied the new allegation, and announced his resignation, effective the next day.
    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ed_Murray_(Washington_politician)

Change the sex of the victims, and you can see strong parallels to many female cases.

(About 20 years ago, Seattle Times journalist Erik Lacitis exposed a scandal by . . . reading the personal ads in a local gay newspaper. Some ads explicitly asked for "dates" without any hair on their private parts. It was a free newspaper, available in racks in parts of Seattle.

The record of the Seattle Times is mixed. Murray began his career in Portland. There were rumors in Portland about his liking for boys, which may explain why he moved to Seattle. The Times knew about those rumors, but did not investigate them, as far as I know.)

It is not “inevitable”. That’s just repeating a far right narrative that has been spread on social media. (And the people spreading that narrative are often guilty of exactly the beliefs and actions towards women that they accuse others of.)

There are approximately 900,000 rapes per year in the UK, which is a shocking number that politicians and society at large should do more to bring down. The vast majority of those are committed by white British men, but men from all sectors of society commit such crimes. The remedy is not xenophobia. What does work to reduce sexual violence is proper enforcement of laws (including the police taking reports seriously, swifter justice and appropriate sentencing), education (including in schools), and environmental safety measures. https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/freedom-from-violence-and-abuse-a-cross-government-strategy/what-works-to-reduce-violence-against-women-and-girls-a-summary-of-the-evidence-accessible has more.

This is the British Crime Survey data:

    https://www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopulationandcommunity/crimeandjustice/articles/sexualoffencesprevalenceandtrendsenglandandwales/yearendingmarch2025
Can you think of any reasons why the British Crime Survey might not pick up a surge in rapes and sexual assault?

While you’re struggling with that, can you explain why almost every single Western European country has seen this same surge in sexual crimes in the last 10-15 years?

While you’re fumbling incoherently with that, what do you think about this Danish survey which shows that Muslim Palestinian immigrants are TWELVE TIMES more likely to commit rape than native Danes? And Syrians FIFTEEN TIMES? And Somalians TWENTY TIMES more likely?

    https://x.com/travelingisrae1/status/2056440344703615345?s=46

I am not necessarily disagreeing with with you, but a quick Google suggests that that 71,000 rape offences are recorded by police per year. Yes, independent surveys estimate the true number of victims is vastly higher, but that data estimates that approximately 900,000 people experience a sexual assault or rape each year.

Beautiful walk this morning with low cloud wreathing the hills like a shroud and only the peaks sticking through. Obviously been a fair bit of rain overnight but dry and very little wind. When you get weather like this, this country is very, very hard to beat. I am really fortunate in where I live.

Later on today we are heading south for our holiday in Northamptonshire. If anyone got any particular recommendations in the area I would be delighted to hear from them.

Those series can be watched on iplayer or ITVx:-

    Three Girls: https://www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/episodes/b08rgd5n/three-girls
Drama based on the true stories of victims of grooming and sexual abuse in Rochdale.

    Believe Me: https://www.itv.com/watch/believe-me/10a0144
Victims of the black cab rapist struggle to be believed.

    Honour: https://www.itv.com/watch/honour/2a7534
DCI Caroline Goode vows to bring justice for a young girl, murdered by her family for falling in love with the wrong man.

Tbh I am not sure Honour is like the other two as the detective rather than victim is the star.

ITVx Premium is worth paying £6 a month for to remove the adverts. (Obviously there are still adverts when you watch live tv.)

This is all getting a bit dull, so here's a change of subject

While we have been focused on Iran/Skyr/THE ARSE, America is reviving its UFO flap

It's got to the extent where Fox News is discussing "how many types of aliens there are". Nordics, greys, reptilians, etc. I am particularly unkeen on the ones that look like a giant praying mantis

'Non-human' bodies allegedly recovered from crashed UFO, documentary filmmaker claims

    https://www.foxnews.com/media/non-human-bodies-allegedly-recovered-crashed-ufo-documentary-filmmaker-claims

Total madness, Fox chasing clicks? Maybe. But previous skeptics like Neil De G Tyson are also now hedging their bets

    https://edition.cnn.com/2026/05/17/politics/video/take-me-to-your-leader-aliens-ufo

However, I note he has a book to sell

“I would have never imagined if I didn't know Neil Degrass Tyson, he's not talking extraterrestrials. He's the debunker. Why would you write about extraterrestrial life?”

“What began to happen if you go back long enough, a few decades ago, most of the many of the accounts of UFOs and alien abductions and things were people who didn't otherwise have the title or integrity that their station in life would grant them.

There was the farmer in his back, there were drunken revelers at 2 a.m. staggering out of the bar. And it would be their accounts of UFOs that would get reported on.

And beginning a few years ago, and all of you in the media just ate it up when various whistleblowers and insiders, they're not drunken revelers. There's a parade of them. Many of them former military, ex intelligence agency officers and under oath in front of Congress.

By the way, this is the last and only time I remember in the past decade where both houses of Congress were just together with one investigative purpose. I was quite impressed by that. Aliens brought us together.

So when these people of high rank started reporting, I said, ‘All right, I have to jump in here. I can't stay silent. I have to be a participant in what's going on’.”"

WTF is up? Are they just getting crazier?

Its just the same grift as always.
This is always your go-to explanation - and to be fair, I am sure there is a lot of grift going on - but, as ever, it doesn't remotely explain the widescale nature of this, nor the fact very senior people are involved (who have no obvious monetary motive)

However I have some knapping to do, slightly tedious but essential to pay for my next Mousterian hand axe, so a debate must wait. Anon

Hampshire County Council now a Reform-Conservative coalition.

Reform have sold themselves for a few paid committee chair places, and allowed the Tories who just lost control to continue running the council. It will be interesting to see what the Tory leader does with his promise to take the government to judicial review over the reorganisation proposals - a *bold* way for a council heading for bankruptcy to be spending taxpayers money.

Seems like if you sign up for basic paid level of Google Gemini for £20 they are now throwing in YouTube Premium (lite) now and some other goodies.

The £20 tier does come with YouTube Premium Lite [sic] as you say but PBers should note it is not included in the cheaper paid version of Gemini.

Gemini has monthly charges for the different levels of: free, £7, £19, £80 and £190.

This world cup is shaping up to be a disaster, like everything else the Orange one touches. For fans to have matches spread over thousands of miles in 3 very large countries is just taking the piss. With ICE very likely to cause trouble in the US and the complete rip offs of being forced to buy ludicrously expensive train fares just to get to the stadium attendances are going to be desperately low, as will the atmosphere. Its sad. I've waited a significant chunk of my adult life to see Scotland qualify again and it is going to be crap. At the risk of stating the blindingly obvious FIFA are a total disgrace.
As you say, the World Cup is just too spread out. England's group games are in three different states: Massachusetts, New Jersey (in a New York-branded stadium) and Texas which is 1,500 miles away. This is why American sports tend to be watched by home fans only.

Though just outside Northamptonshire, Stamford (Lincs), Uppingham (Rutland) and Market Harborough (Leics) are very pleasant places to visit.

In particular Stamford is lovely on the water meadows on a sunny day, with many excellent places to drink and dine nearby. It is pretty much all in the same honey coloured stone, with The George being a fine old coaching Inn, though I prefer the more informal garden room to their Oak Room.

Burleigh House is on the edge of Stamford and is probably the grandest Elizabethan mansion in the country, with lovely grounds and quite decent food in the Orangery.

    To continue on a theme…

A Christian charity in the UK has said it’s a ‘problem boys don’t rape girls anymore’ and claims instead that children are being ‘homosexualised’.

    https://metro.co.uk/2026/05/21/christian-charity-says-its-a-problem-boys-dont-rape-girls-anymore-rape-boys-28437599/

It’s actually a UK branch of a ministry founded in Nigeria and brought here by the Uk Nigerian diaspora.

Not quite the win you wanted for your usual narrative on these issues.

    Bad luck old chap.

    At least I hope they’re delaying it…

Total madness, Fox chasing clicks? Maybe. But previous skeptics like Neil De G Tyson are also now hedging their bets

    https://edition.cnn.com/2026/05/17/politics/video/take-me-to-your-leader-aliens-ufo

However, I note he has a book to sell

"Neil DeGrasse Tyson explains why he is now entering the UFO and alien conversation after decades of debunking

Anon
Hundreds of millions of people on the planet walking round all day every day with 4k video capable phones and constant automatic location tracking and tagging. Yet not a single instance of hi-res footage of anything remotely plausible as being alien, or of abduction / movement beyond the known limits of space travel. Donnez-moi un break !
Somewhere out there is an account of a secret USAF programme to buy and fly Russian warplanes, which acknowledges the help of American UFO fever to hide what they were up to.
    https://www.19fortyfive.com/2026/03/the-u-s-militarys-secret-program-that-had-american-pilots-flying-russia-mig-fighters-at-area-51-for-a-decade/

The US also managed to pick up a few former Soviet warbirds after the Cold War, when some of the smaller nations inherited them but with no skills to fly them. The Americans sold them American planes and training, in exchange for the Soviet planes which they shipped back to the States.
Up until the late 60s they weren't bought or exchanged, they were stolen or captured by the Zionist Entity. In the 70s, buying them from Indonesia or Morocco was easier.

The first Frescos they got from Syria and Iraq were a nasty shock. No USN/USAF crew ever beat them in A2A at the first attempt. My mate's dad flew them in the Soviet PVO. He reckoned it was really good until you got it up to about M0.9 then "it didn't want to be there and let you know". Blyat.

So after a year the EHRC guidance on single sex spaces was published yesterday. It was in the headlines of the Radio 4 6pm news yesterday. Still no mention on the BBC website - not even what drag queens think about it, Matt Brittin really needs to clean house with BBC Online, it's an embarrassment.

They’re wanging on about it in an extended piece on R4’s Today programme right now.

Maybe the leadership challenge will fizzle out.

    https://x.com/GBPolitcs/status/2057534613539500441

Labour party members preference for Labour leader

    Keir Starmer: 40%
    Andy Burnham: 40%
    Angela Rayner: 8%
    Ed Miliband: 4%
    Yvette Cooper: 3%
    Wes Streeting: 2%
    Other: 2%
    Al Carns: 1%

    [@FindoutnowUK, 15-16 May]

Enough there to encourage Starmer not to roll over, but not enough for Starmer to see off Burnham.

That would be the optimal outcome for Labour and Burnham. Burnham's claim to be changing Labour will be more credible and his stock with the public will be higher if he gets the credit for taking Starmer down in a messy contest, rather than having Starmer standing down to make way for him in a coronation.

Edit: That said I am sceptical of FindOutNow methodology even as applied to the general public, let alone their ability to reliably poll Labour members. YouGov are the gold standard for Labour member polling, their track record in leadership contests shows that.

    Morning all

FAO people who think everybody with a camera phone is now David Bailey...

    @jowolff.bsky.social‬

One of my brothers was in the music business, writing and producing, and when new technology turned every laptop into a recording studio he worried that everyone could now do what he was doing. A few new people did, but not many. Turned out you needed talent, not technology.

Finally my answer (I have been building garden obelisks today despite the freezing weather - I'm wearing warm trousers, woolly jumper, long woolly cardigan, warm ankle boots and wrist warmers on May 21, a month before the nights start drawing in) to today's important question from @kjh -

"How do you win a prize for a compost heap?"

You take some of the compost, put it in a jar, with your name and take it to the show before 9 am, where it will be put on show in the relevant part of the produce tent for the all important judging inspection. While that is going on, you get yourself a decent cup of tea and wander round looking at the various exhibits and the animals: lots of sheep of every conceivable variety (I very nearly kidnapped the one in the photograph below), goats and cattle. Plus a whole tent full of chickens and hens and ducks.

And then when the prizes are announced, you get a sticker and a book on composting plus a very nice notebook and pen which I am still using. A celebratory ice cream follows.

I have just bought a small greenhouse as well. There is no end to the excitement in my life.

Hold on. Why is the prize for the best compost a book on composting? Surely they should give the book to whoever produced the worst compost.

Interesting to see the enthusiasm with which this is being done. “Full steam ahead”.

Surely recategorising toilets needs a £100m bat tunnel for process? Or is that only for infrastructure?

I stand corrected - hidden away in "health". I looked on the main page, UK, politics and searched for each of EHRC, Bridget Phillipson, Guidance - all of which appear in the article.
