    Badenoch, and disappointingly Hunt, could have kept their counsel until they could see where the wind blows. Trump is talking about an imminent unprecedentedly enormous attack on Iran. Some of the places I am looking are asking will this bigly attack involve nukes? To mark his place in history it wouldn't surprise me. As for Kemi, sometimes silence is golden.

    There's a good centre left grouping coming together. Now that Starmer is following his MPs and not slavishly following Trump a 'NEW LABOUR' could be at its centre. If he can't resist the pull towards Farage he can and will be replaced. He's got roughly 10 weeks to show he's the person to lead this grouping otherwise he'll be out. This I believe to be a fact.

    Her take on the attack on Akrotiri is spot on. Our failure to even offer a token retaliation of any kind invites future attacks on UK bases and forces.

    One thing that really puzzles me about Trump is why he would launch this eight months before the midterms so the price rises from downstream effects are most vicious just before the voting begins.

    He's clearly not stupid (Trump, not Leon), or he wouldn't have achieved all the things he has done.

    He doesn't think more than one move ahead, which is why he has blown up all his achievements in fairly short order. But in some situations, that's a handy cognitive shortcut. Boris was much the same.

    I'd go with clever, but not wise, and of the two wisdom is way more useful. Besides, his brain is clearly turning into Angel Delight, so the cleverness is going.

    Half is cream bottom jam top the other half is jam bottom cream too... They sell very well on Tamar Bridge

    I have to say, those seat numbers seem quite optimistic for both the Conservatives and Labour. They are projected to lose about one third each of the seats which they are defending, despite Labour losing one half of its vote share, compared to 2022, and the Conservatives losing two fifths.

    My view is that seat losses will at the very least, match losses in vote share.

    There are quite a few Vegas casinos who have got in serious financial trouble over the years.

    To be fair, that one is fairly easy. All you need to do is to accrue too much debt while building it, such that the profits from the casino are unable to cover your interest payments.
    There are quite a few Vegas casinos who have got in serious financial trouble over the years.
    Isn't that because the staff and owners turned out to be crooks and were nicking all the money? Which does not of course apply to Tru...ah, hang on.

    Trump made a ... minor ... miscalculation. He thought people would flock to Atlantic City because it was near(-ish) to New York.

    Unfortunately for him, it turned out that if you want to actually travel to a Sin City, then Las Vegas is barely any less convenient than Atlantic City. And if you didn't want to travel far, then a bunch of other options (Indian Reservations, etc) exist.

    Meaning all Atlantic City could bring in was retirees on buses playing 1 cent slot machines and sipping margaritas, rather than the high rollers he dreamed of.

    It is one of British cuisine’s greatest inventions. One of the best meals I’ve ever had in my life was a long sunny April Dartmoor hike I did with a friend and my daughter and his daughter then age 8 and 9 and it was long and tough and we all got back to the Two Bridges pub at about 4pm. And they were serving cream teas with fresh just-made scones, so we all ordered one cream tea each


    Honestly. The moment the teas arrived and we all prepared our scones (jam first) and then we all bit into the sweet jammy creamy scone-y loveliness at the same time and this kind of heavenly satisfied silence settled over us all. It was quasi religious

    One of my favourite food memories ever. Also one of my favourite parenting memories
    You remind me of the occasion when I arrived at my rented flat after work to find the owner's family sitting round the tea table in the garden, just about to tuck into dishes of strawberries & cream. As they all looked up at my entry, a seagull swooped low over the table and splattered its waste into their bowls.

    If the latter, Streeting or Rayner has time to possibly oust SKS via forcing resignation and the leadership contest is underway before Burnham is eligible.........
