    FPT...

Starmer refuses to answer a question from the SNP about whether Mandelson should face a police investigation.

Whether someone should face a police investigation should be for the police to decide, not the government, no?

    @peterjukes

Well, though it’s just unnamed FBI source, this would explain a lot.

Putin is always suspected to have hidden his assets offshore in the Caribbean (see Sandal fund)

And who would make the ideal wealth manager?

(Emails to Ehud Barak suggest Putin tried to contact Epstein)

I’ve just finished a long meeting so only caught the end of the comment but I think that’s what Starmer said the SNP are going for a headline.

They and WIlliam and paraphrasing to make Starmer look bad.

Will Mandy takes this lying down (other positions are available)? He must have a significant collection of his own 'reminisces' of both political and powerful people. Political changes could get rather sudden and messy during 2026.

The question to ask is not should there be a police investigation into Mandy, it's will you hold a govt investigation into his vetting when you made him ambassador?

If he’s the vengeful sort it could get interesting.

But he’s a Labour man first and foremost. Surely he will put the party ahead of any petty desires for vengeance ?

I was once invited to a party by Lord Mandelson.

Thank feck I turned it down.

    I don't know.

You could have made lots of money off insider information tips, heard fascinating details about government buildings and plenty of political and business gossip.

Actually, he sounds like an ideal dinner companion to me.

Certainly never a dull moment, especially as he's dragged off in handcuffs over the port ...

Yep. Starmer has no Epstein links and no responsibility for what Mandelson was doing back in Blair/Brown times. What Starmer did was appoint him UK ambassador to Washington. The rationale/process around that (bad) call is where his vulnerability lies.

It's the wrong approach from the government to try to use this to smuggle through a power grab versus the House of Lords. It's not complex to pass legislation to remove his peerage.

I doubt it will honestly make any difference. As I explained the other day, Scottish Whiskey in China is £50-60 a bottle for run of the mill stuff, the equivalent of about £250 in our equivalent buying power. If you just want to drink alcohol its dirt cheap, a beer is $1 in a big city i.e. nobody in China is buying Scot Whiskey on price, they are totally elastic to price, £3-4 off for the sort of people in China who have the equivalent of £250 to spend on a bottle of booze, they ain't asking price.

I went to a supermarket that stocked Scot Whiskey in Schenzhen, it made Waitrose look like Asda both appearance and price.

Starmer refuses to answer a question from the SNP about whether Mandelson should face a police investigation.

Whether someone should face a police investigation should be for the police to decide, not the government, no?
So any easy one for Mr Forensic to have swatted away then.
I’ve just finished a long meeting so only caught the end of the comment but I think that’s what Starmer said the SNP are going for a headline.

They and WIlliam and paraphrasing to make Starmer look bad.
caught with his pants up and down , to the tower with the bounder.

    "whiskey"?

Susie has RIPed: Retired In Place. President Miller runs the show now.

It is all going to get a lot, lot worse before this is made to end.

    Obama to be arrested shortly?

But one wonders what's the point of all this as Trump is not going to be running for election again.

    CPS, usually.

But anyone can request that the police look into dodgy gongs on at the Dog & Duck
Indeed. Anyone can report a crime.
In fact I would say that Starmer has the duty to report Mandelson to the police if there is evidence a crime has been committed. Although I believe that some other people may have already done so.

Although I am uncomfortable with the idea that the government should be able to remove someone from the legislature, which some people seem to be demanding

It is still astonishing that the people being held to account for the incredible web of corruption that Epstein weaved are a British prince and a British lord. And the only one convicted other than him is a British woman.

Where tf are the multiplicity of millionaires and billionaires from the US who were enticed into raping children and blackmailed into supporting his extraordinary life style. Where tf is Trump??

It only goes to demonstrate, as they say, beyond a peradventure, what a dishonest and corrupt society the USA is.

Potentially explosive but I'm sceptical of the details since Ivanka Trump would have been 10 or 11 in 1992. Why take your own daughter to child sex romps?

    Don't give him any ideas......

Watched the episode of The Crown last night with Thatcher insisting on retaking the Falklands.

This really is the most useless government of my lifetime. Not just giving up territory, but paying someone to take it. Unspoofably weak and lily livered.

Are you asking who is the father of Ivanka Trump? There is a screenshot in the link containing CSA allegations which the text dates to 1992. Reproducing it here would invite legal trouble. @TheScreamingEagles would have kitten heels.

Boris, vetting and the House of Lords. It would not surprise me if Labour attempts to conflate the two cases in any inquiry.

Sir Keir Starmer thought he could appeal to the sleaziest US President ever by appointing as Ambassador the sleaziest person he could think of. And it nearly worked.

It was considered a masterstroke. Kemi and Nige were green with envy and if it hadn't been for Super-Perv he'd have got away with it.

Of all his missteps this looks the most serious. Don't put the farm on him being PM by the end of the year

There is an Opposition Day Debate on Wednesday. Whoever is leading the debate should make it the “Lord Mandelson (Removal of Title)” debate and put the government on the spot.
