    Organised crime taking a foothold due to the prohibitive cost of disposing of waste legally ‘to save the planet’. A policy to supposedly protect the environment is fucking it. Couldn’t make it up 😂

    This would only have got worse had the chancellor not backtracked on raising the cost of disposing of building waste.

    Governments rarely understand that incentives have more than just their intended effect.
    Governments also seem to not understand the concept of 'false economies,' although to be fair that's true of rather a lot of large organisations.

    Man, someone sounds really mad that a bunch of Minneapolis soccer moms can manage op-sec while the Secretary of Defense texts his battle plans to the editor in chief of the Atlantic.

    I'm assuming this is what Sandpit was referring to when he spoke about allegations of organised resistance?

    I think rather it's just showing how much people despise the stupid thugs of ICE that they're information sharing everywhere.

    Gregory Bovino has been removed from his role as Border Patrol “commander at large," per The Atlantic.

    Predict Trump will be calling a loser, everybody says so, I only hired him because other people told me he was amazing, I always thought he was low IQ.

    Some confusion about this:

    https://x.com/TriciaOhio/status/2015939758858371393

    Chief Gregory Bovino has NOT been relieved of his duties. As @PressSec stated from the White House podium, @CMDROpAtLargeCA is a key part of the President’s team and a great American.
    A great deal of confusion.

    Bovino is a shortarse fascist, rather than a "great American".
    A feature of the TACO, is that the TACO leads to another TACO, on top of the previous one.

    The cycle is often repeated until Trump has spun like a top.

    https://youtu.be/g751-jjKXC0?si=ktls--ArpQ0Sgh6w

    This is probably related to Trump listening to the last person he spoke to and his habit of making decision based on social media memes/postings.

    I don't think that's quite accurate.
    I think he's just read the polls and decided to create a scapegoat or two. I'd be surprised if this isn't more a pause rather than a policy reversal.
    It depends

    Dems should press their advantage. Take a leaf out of Trump's own playbook with a 'maximalist' demand to fire Noem and Miller, and dismantle ICE. Maybe they will get some of that. Of course they will probably back off, but anyway...

    The other thing is there has been a definite vibe shift over the weekend. Last week it was cool to agree with Trump and ICE. Today people are getting 'cancelled' for doing those things, and Fox News is discombobulated

    @daniloc.xyz‬

    just an extraordinary vibe shift rippling across every cultural, business and political context all at once

    the elite cover for indulgence of evil shit collapsed in one weekend

    https://bsky.app/profile/daniloc.xyz/post/3mdeaxoff322z

    @justinbaragona.bsky.social‬

    Check out how flustered Marc Thiessen is that the narrative that was working on Fox News over the weekend has already blown apart, even though he still claims Tim Walz has "blood on his hands" over Alex Pretti's death.

    Even Martha MacCallum has to tell him the "tone is very different" now.

    Around 50 Labour MPs have signed a letter objecting to the decision to block Greater Manchester Mayor Andy Burnham from standing in a forthcoming parliamentary by-election, BBC News understands.

    So he was going to finish somewhere below the Legalise Sex with Martians party anyway?

    Cruella at her RefUK press conference yesterday

    @implausibleblog.bsky.social‬

    Suella Braverman, "There is a very strong case to increase the powers of any immigration enforcement officers that we deploy"

    "At the moment they're hamstrung by human rights laws, by health and safety laws, by all sorts of needless and obstructive bureaucracy"

    @davidherdson.bsky.social‬

    It's also spectacularly bad politics by Reform here. Aping and lauding the worst excesses of the Trump administration - particularly at this moment - will go down very badly with the public.

    Haha that's fantastic - such blatant use of AI too. But sobering - describing the victims as terrorists, and the protestors an insurgency, is all part of the playbook.

    TACO is all good and well - but several people are dead, a number of Americans have been mistakenly deported, NATO is weakened, and economic growth suppressed. It's not all just a game.

    It didn’t take long for the RFA to start whining about the change . Some guff about investor confidence really meaning they won’t be able to screw as much money out of leaseholders.

    Leaseholder lobbying groups are whining too. Their expectation was ground rent cancelled. Oh dear.

    Doesn’t do anything about excessive service charge increases.

    Mugs need to do more due diligence when buying 👍

    It’s the same thing - he chops and changes and lies about that ever happening in response any news that impinges on him.

    The difference with his previous administration is that he now has the 25 types around him. Who are consistently pushing their policies.

    All of those claiming Starmer is a weak leader should read Hansard rather than the Daily Mail. What they have and are intending to push through Parliament in the next few years will bring material change. Whether this is good/bad depends on your POV but change is happening.

    “Tax the rat farms”

    One problem, consistently, in government is the failure to think of the consequences. And the consequences to the consequences.

    Anytime you have a law or a regulation you create a delta between obeying it and not. Then factor in the potential costs - fines, jail etc.

    The potential fines and criminal penalties for dumping waste are a flea bite compared to making (say) a million pounds out of drugs.

    Good morning, everyone.

    Occasionally, a YouTube channel creator I watch, LindyBeige, gets invited somewhere to essentially do tourism stuff, make his own videos etc to promote the country (he went to somewhere in South America a few years ago). Now he's in the west of Ukraine, being given mysterious yet potent alcoholic beverages by a hospitable stranger, and so forth:
