    Monkfish is ace. And that sounds epic.

    Was out for a work related Christmas dinner on Friday. A dry mousse with a single bit of biscuit/bread, beef bourguignonne and a bit of cake with some fruit (possibly the best bit of the meal). Company was excellent, food, not even ordinary. Quite disappointing.

    It’s tricky because the tail gets thinner!

    Monkfish is a really ugly fish. Not so noticeable when a fillet of course. The useful characteristic is a very firm flesh, which means you can fry it like meat in curries etc as Blanche is doing.

    When Trump was elected in 2016 I was quite pleased, as it was the slap in the face the liberals and centrists deserved for not listening, and I have vaguely on his side generally, without paying too much attention, but what he said about the murder of the Reiner's today shows more than anything I have seen that he is not fit to be leader of a country.     When the peppers are cooking I liberally add chilli powder (fresh chilli works well too, but I didn't want leftover chilli) and a good squeeze from a lime. Then add the monkfish and the prawns. Just before they're cooked I stir in a couple of tablespoons of crème fraiche and chopped chives and coriander, heat up again and serve with rice

    I try to make them about the same size as raw king prawn
    We have it in tomato with olives, capers, carrots and onions, served with rice. Or sometimes as a curry. Cut exactly the same sort of size.

    I'm surprised that they haven't handed out a Pro version of their standard mobile app to hub staff.

    Back in 2015 or so Lloyds found their online browser app had better functionality than the standard branch systems so they rolled it out to the branches. Now the mobile app has more functionality than the online app, I would have thought the obvious route would be to roll an extended version that out to staff too.

    You keep it for 6 months (in case it is ever challenged).

    When first mooted the big concern of course was what if a cheque is submitted twice. Or a fake cheque is submitted.

    But in the former case the system just rejects the second attempt (cheque number). Fake cheques? That risk and the mitigation is the same as when cheques were sent off to central clearing - wait for the cheque to clear through the issuing bank, transactions can be reversed if necessary.

    I used to enjoy very much a monkfish in St Malo where they served it in a crepe with a light curry sauce. The monkfish was cut to large bite size. Having remade it and other similar monkfish dishes is cut it to how you would cut chicken for a curry, just to whatever your preference is or what you think would suit your guests, there is no ideal way. Just adjust the cooking time to factor the size in.

    My two recent-ish hires didn't know what cheques were. Never even encountered them. And I admit myself - the last time I used a cheque was in about 2006.

    In general ATMs accepting cheques are inside branches. The problem here it seems is that the bank has stopped processing cheques through third parties including post offices, and also the multibank "banking hubs" set up to maintain service in towns where they have closed branches.

    It's conceivable, but not likely, that you'll be able to pay in a cheque by making an appointment with the bank's rep on their day at the Banking Hub premises.
    With Starling Bank you pay in a cheque by taking a photo of it with the app.
    My two recent-ish hires didn't know what cheques were. Never even encountered them. And I admit myself - the last time I used a cheque was in about 2006.
    Yep, they are gone the way of cash...
