I see pronouns in emails are back.

I say keep 'em guessing, and go with something like: she/him/they

It also allows you to tut-tut people who don't get it right.

And my tip is Wes Streeting. He'll replace Starmer if Starmer goes before the election. Current price is value imo.

Migrants who have been accused of sex offences and other crimes are being granted asylum anyway, a whistleblower has claimed.

A senior caseworker has told The Telegraph that Home Office staff can approve claims from asylum seekers charged with crimes, as long as the offence for which they are being prosecuted does not merit a prison sentence of 12 months or more. She cited a case where she said she was disciplined after refusing to approve an Afghan man’s application because he had been arrested several times for indecently exposing himself in a children’s play area.

    @alaynatreene

THUNE back on the Hill on Trump's insistence Republicans nuke the filibuster: "There are not the votes there"

"The President's views on the filibuster, you know, have been long held," he said. "It's not like it's surprising anybody."

Trump is "obviously very influential and our members want to do everything they can to be good partners and help him implement his agenda. So I don't doubt that he could have some sway with members, but I just know where the math is on this issue in the Senate, and it's not just not happening"

    @atrupar.com‬

"In fact, Republicans like the filibuster even when they themselves are in control. That’s because it enables them to avoid passing legislation that the party officially favors but that smart Republicans know would be disastrous for them politically."

It all stems from a conversation we had about different career paths we nearly took, I mentioned I thought about joining the Foreign Office so I could become an Ambassador with the titles such as a GCMG (God Calls Me God) and being styled ‘Your Excellency.’

It tickled my colleagues that in a different universe somebody as subtle as me is an ambassador given the tact etc that job requires.

O/T I had my first ever MRI today and weirdly loved it. I found it remarkably relaxing. Haven’t just been able to lay still and chill like that for as long as I can remember and the sounds were like some bars and clubs I’ve been to, if I’d had a few drinks it would have been perfect.

What kind of disgusting neo-colonialist attitude is it to judge the legal system of another country? One that we invaded very recently?

Further, since they base their legal system directly on their Holy Book - isn't that religious bigotry as well?

My calculation earlier this morning that the Dems would win VA AG by about 38K votes was wildly out: the eventual margin was approx 200K. This shows the importance of knowing the number of votes cast in each county, as my calc left those counties out that hadn't got that data. Bad me. Anyhoo

This is an interesting perspective on the Yaxley-Lennon prosecution failure from the other day from the Black Belt Barrister.

It sounds like insufficient police background knowledge and attention to detail. If his account is accurate - which I would expect it to be - they were not very good witnesses in Court, and records were insufficient or missing. Or perhaps they knew they were on a sticky wicket and " er er er"-ed it. Training courses are indicated, perhaps.

Ah fantastic. Yes something like that might work for me. Perhaps Brian Cox talking about how many galaxies there are in the known universe. That always lulls me off. As it is, MRI spells valium or a large scotch in the waiting room. The latter is not a good look. You feel a bit feeble.

At present rates Labour will fall beneath the Libs by the middle of next year and beneath the Greens by the end of this year (very approx)
The enthusiasm of Labour MPs for Mamdani could be a bearish sign for the Labour party because it shows how susceptible they are to a charismatic outsider.

"We can confirm that the released prisoner is 24-year-old Brahim Kaddour-Cherif who is an Algerian national. He is also known to use other variations of his name, including Ibrahim.

It's not that easy is it.The fellow obviously has severe mental problems and is both a danger, in the short term, and a cost to services in the longer.
However, just supposing he's facing a death sentence if he's sent back to Kabul?
What kind of disgusting neo-colonialist attitude is it to judge the legal system of another country? One that we invaded very recently?

Further, since they base their legal system directly on their Holy Book - isn't that religious bigotry as well?
    Yeah; good points.
It's not always easy, being on the Left!
Think of it as a card game. The case worker above should have made a counter complaint of racist behaviour.

You can have endless fun - for example, the Green Belt policy is Institutionally Racist. According to the official, used-by-government definition.

The BBC understands Brahim Kaddour-Cherif, the Algerian released in error a week ago, is:

    Not an asylum seeker
Entered the UK legally on a visit visa in 2019
Overstayed their visa, with an automatic probable over-stayer case created on 6 February 2020
Is in the initial stages of the deportation process

Or perhaps they knew they were on a sticky wicket and " er er er"-ed it. Training courses are indicated, perhaps.

Apparently another prisoner has been released by mistake on Monday from Wandsworth

The government are actually super-lucky that no-one is listening to the Tories and Farage is so marmite, right now.

If they were up against a united, vaguely acceptable opposition their position would be even more dire.

    Who?
    Exactly.

The Lib Dems are down to fifth on the wikipedia opinion poll average graph.
Although, averaging pretty much what they always do. Indeed, pretty much what was good enough for their best seat result in over 100 years. The weird effects of FPTP.

Yes that's them. Not sure what's happened to Stanway but they lost their previous ground. I think Coggeshall saw ground sharing as an economic benefit. AIUI Coggeshall own their ground. Benefit of legacy or something.

Plenty of parking, although crap for public transport, unless you want to go to Colchester or Stansted Airport. Pm me if you do give it a go again.

Hardly a surprise, the BBC has just said 260 were released in error so far this year, that's one a day. Only two in the last week would be an improvement.

Would be interesting to know historic figures over the last few years.

A few months ago there was debate about Lammy's taxi trip in the Alps, where the usual suspects suggested Lammy had refused to pay.

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/world-news/2025/11/03/french-taxi-driver-acquitted-stealing-david-lammys-luggage/?recomm_id=d977ccdc-43d7-4b99-b777-0185a8c6e593

More details here - taxi driver admits Lammy had paid, but once he realised who they were he wanted to charge them more as they were VIPS to cover "security". However driver has now been acquitted of stealing the Lammy's luggage as it was returned within a day.

“I requested an extra €700 because I realised when they got in that they were VIPs. Their luggage made that clear.” “I wanted more money for increased security, because I had a senior member of the British Government in the back of my Ford Kuga.”

Sounds like simple extortion to me.

And my tip is Wes Streeting. He'll replace Starmer if Starmer goes before the election. Current price is value imo.

He will then lose his seat to a Gaza loon in 2029.
    A risk but I don't think so.
I tend to agree but why people want an MP that's more concerned about people living in Gaza than they are about their own constituents remains a mystery to me.

How many of them was released in this incident?

FIFA have invented a peace prize so they can give it to the Mad King

Infantino makes Sepp Blatter look like a great leader of FIFA. He’s so far up Trump’s arse he comes out of his mouth and back round so he can get up it again.

His vanity and Trump’s are a marriage made in hell.
FIFA funded an entire film, complete with Hollywood A listers, to praise themselves....

"In the United States, the film grossed $918 in its opening weekend, was lambasted by critics as propaganda, and is considered to be one of the worst films ever made."

Apparently another prisoner has been released by mistake on Monday from Wandsworth

The government are actually super-lucky that no-one is listening to the Tories and Farage is so marmite, right now.

If they were up against a united, vaguely acceptable opposition their position would be even more dire.
Begs the question: whatever happened to the Lib Dems?
    Who?
    Exactly.

The Lib Dems are down to fifth on the wikipedia opinion poll average graph.
At present rates Labour will fall beneath the Libs by the middle of next year and beneath the Greens by the end of this year (very approx)
Looks like Reform are on a plateau. In a way it's good that they are consolidating their high level, but they will also be wondering where to get new voters from. They need decent leaders or a least spokespersons in Scotland and Wales. Reform has done amazingly well to get so popular here, but needs a Scottish accent, and a non-Tory.
