Sometimes it's good to know what your partner might be collecting:

"A widow was worried about her deceased husband’s collection of chemicals, hazmat people began carefully clearing out the basement. And then they found the dynamite. A stock of dynamite that had been inherited from the husband’s father….."

    (Also, 300 cartons of chemicals...)

I think my next car will be a plug-in hybrid, but only because they no longer sell the non-hybrid version

Well that's hardly surprising. I will never have a hybrid nor an electric car unless I am priced out fuel. I won't be or very much doubt i will be driving in 2050.
How about ten years from now ?

Though you'll possibly be driven by, rather than driving a car.
Oh dear, don't make the same mistake Leon did. Over a decade ago, he said all truck drivers would be out of a job in ten years. He was hilariously wrong.

I am very bearish on autonomous driving - at least in the level-5 category, which is the really useful one. We're nowhere near it yet for most purposes, despite what Musky Baby says.
It's worth looking at some example drives with FSD 12.3.6.
Admittedly it's California and I think it would have problems in English country roads and say Italy. However, version 12 is much better than the previous version and is improving all the time as the AI is trained on all the data from Tesla cars specifically edge cases.

That's Whole Mars Catalog... a MuskyBaby/Tesla hype channel that I reckon just exists to ramp their shares. There are plenty of videos of FSD failing, as well.
It's true that Whole Mars Catalog (Omar) is obsessed with Tesla but I think it's unfair to accuse him of ramping Tesla shares.
He gets the latest FSD changes early and is prepared to point out problems, which can be addressed by feeding the video into Tesla's AI.
Of course there are plenty of videos showing FSD failing but much fewer with the AI version (12) than previous ones. There are also videos of humans making bad decisions when driving cars.
If, a big if of course, Tesla can get the accident rate say twice as good as humans that would be a worthwhile achievement.
I'm sure you have an open mind so search for FSD 12.3.6 (or higher releases are coming out every few weeks) and see what you think.

Good question by Cathy Newman. "What does it tell you about Keir Starmer's Labour Party that you can find a place for Natalie Elphicke but not Diane Abbott"

It tells you that Keir Starmer's Labour Party is playing to win.
    That is a good answer.
The deed having been done I doubt that the new comrade's name will be mentioned again by the Labour Front bench.
If questions are being asked what does it tell you about the Natural Party of Government (tm)?
Not much. Any incumbent administration at its fag end is vulnerable to defections like this, particularly when on course for a heavy defeat.

It says much more about SKS's Labour. He can offer things Rishi no longer can, aside from appeals to loyalty and resignation honours.

He's absolutely shilling for Tesla. And that's the problem with these videos: they're highly selective.

I'm not saying it's not a great achievement (although they might well be behind competitors...), but these hype channels are next to useless to get real information on the status of the tech.

Edit: also note you say that he gets the latest FSD changes early. Do you really believe someone on such a program would be fully open and vocal about issues found, especially given MuskyBaby's past actions?

"Residents in a market town that has awards for its floral displays have been told to complete a £165 safety course or hire a contractor to hang baskets on streetlights following new council rules."

I know people often say that regulations have gone mad, but here they might have a point...

between now and Christmas 900,000 will have to remortgage resulting in an average increase of £240 in costs.

    https://www.telegraph.co.uk/money/property/mortgages/rishi-sunak-faces-reckoning-900000-brace-mortgage-rises/

And Rishi thinks waiting is going to produce some good news story that will result in more votes...

Cyclists of PB: I just tried bibshorts... And wow, so comfortable.

Obviously I won't be photographed in them. But still. Wow.

I've not had the courage to go bibshorts yet.

Do you wear a shirt over the top, or do you let the bib show? ;)
Let the bib show and give the public a belly laugh as you pass looking as if you are out of Bill and Ben

Councils are useless. All the signs on the A31 to Guildford from Farnham and the A331 from Farnham to Farnborough are still hilariously overgrown, and no-one has done anything about it.

I can only imagine they're trapped by a framework contractor, budget or due process and simply can't orchestrate a way for it to be done.

    It makes the road unsafe.

    Morning all :)

Another glorious start in East London.

I do recall Natalie Elphicke having some "form" on housing issues from the Coalition days and somebody else yesterday mentioned her contributions to the Levelling Up Committee so this once again blurs the tired old cliches of "left" and "right".

Wanting decent housing for everyone isn't a "left" or "right" thing - there's argument about the means but not the ends and hopefully a recognition across the political spectrum sacred cows on both sides will have to go to make it happen.

It may be while playing no kind of front-facing public role, Elphicke can bring some ideas and suggestions to any future Labour Government for whom housing will be, if not top priority then very high up the agenda.
