Whoever this is, and we must assume that the name will come out at some stage, it is hard to see the individual concerned remaining as an MP. As well as being totally stupid because of the chances of getting caught this comes at a time when all aspects of the behavior of male MPs in relation to women are becoming a serious political issue.

I did wonder if it might be one of those 3 Tory Ministers who was reported for sexual shenanigans? Might explain the pile-on from his own side.....

DJ Tim Westwood steps down from his show until further notice

    Why has this broken now.
There have been rumours about Westwood for YEARS.

Strange to think that his father was a Bishop.
The one thing which surprised me about this story, was that he's 64!
Only 14 years younger than @Big_G_NorthWales.
Why connect me to this DJ ?
No offence intended. Sorry if taken.
Thanks but the accusations against him are appalling and everything I stand against

I pride myself that I have always treated women with respect, and not least those who worked for me during the 40 years I ran my business and even today are personal friends

I am disgusted with the behaviour of some mps and it seems, according to todays report, it is cross party with 3 cabinet ministers and 2 shadow cabinet ministers under investigation

What is wrong with these people ?
Simple answer, those that seek to be mp's should rarely be allowed to run a charity shop
What do you mean. I ran a charity shop.

Health Minister Eluned Morgan broke Senedd rules over speeding, watchdog says

The Welsh government said it did not comment on leaked reports. The Welsh Conservatives said the Labour minister "has said that politicians should lead by example but has failed to do that herself".

Andrew RT Davies is truly f***ing cretinous.
I concur but speeding is far more dangerous than eating a cake !!!!!!!
That is a very disingenuous post. You know full well it is not about cake it is about one rule for us, one rule for them and misleading Parliament.

Morgan has been punished in the same way any of the rest of us have and would be when we have been caught speeding.

Besides which isn't Johnson's defence, one of his FPN is no worse than a speeding ticket.

    Shame on you BigG.
This wasn't a single speeding offence and she has been found to have broken the Senedd code of conduct

'Wales' health minister has been found by a politicians' watchdog to have broken the Senedd code of conduct after being convicted for speeding four times.

Eluned Morgan was banned from driving in Mold Magistrates Court on 17 March.

In a report, yet to be published but seen by BBC Wales, Senedd Standards Commissioner Douglas Bain said the offences set a "very poor example" and demonstrated a disregard for the law.

    My point stands.

If she has accumulated 12 points she gets a ban and uses the bus- like the rest of us would. If the rules are she is also censured by the Senedd, so be it.

I am not condoning the offences, particularly if a member of my family was crossing the road in front of her, but it is wholly different to Johnson's partying misdeeds, for so many reasons.

Talking of motoring offences, Johnson's bonfire of 'elf and safety in the form of two year MOTs is insane. Walk up any street and look at car tyres on vehicles. Some look like racing slicks. At least they require checking and changing once a year now- and think of all the little independent garages that will go to the wall on the back of this nonsense,
Ironically, it has been claimed that saving money on MOT tests will lead to paying more in insurance premiums.
    It seems daft.

I’m all in favour of the easing of rules around childcare, though.

Several countries in Europe have ZERO limits on the child to carer ratio including such right-wing hell-holes as Germany and Denmark.

The UK has regulated childcare into one of the most expensive industries in the country.
    Indeed.

The hand that rocks the cradle rules the bank.
When the current regulations on ratios of children to careers were introduced, New lAbour were warned what would happen, in some detail. They went ahead and the prophecies were exactly fulfilled.

    1) "Proper' childcare became very expensive - in London, it's not far off fees for private school. So more and more middle class people have their budgets "stretched" ready to go straight through to the private sector.
    2) If you are rich enough to have a house with a spare room, AuPairs are just as unregulated as before. And just as cheap.
    3) If you aren't in the first 2 categories, you use unregulated child minding. Which is cheap and a bit like mini cabs used to be in London, before they made them legal....
    Dunno about 1.

I am in that category and the second I could get him out of paid childcare I resolved to piss the money up the wall on good wining and dining instead.
Ha. What did the wife say?
She joined me. State schools round here are good so why pay more? 🙂
Depends on your location - some are very good. Some are shocking. The behaviour of parents in choosing which state school to go to (when they have choice) is another interesting story....
I’d never pretend to believe in a spaghetti monster just to get into a ‘good’ school if that’s what you mean (although how it could be a good school if it teaches that a spaghetti monster rules our lives is another question…)
If the choice in your area was 2 inadequate or requires improvement state schools and an outstanding faith school which needed a vicar's reference to get in I bet you would, especially if you could not afford to go private and there were no grammar schools in the area either.

Hence churches in catchment areas of outstanding faith schools are often full when admissions for the new intake are coming round

Easy. Close down the subsidised sectarian school and improve the two comprehensives with the resources.

You want faith schooling? You pay for it out of your own pocket, not mine and everyone else's. This not very well hidden state subsidy of sectarianism is one of the biggest arguments for eradicating Establishment of a sect in (one of the nations of) the UK.
Typical attitude of you and the useless left, close down anything doing well so everything ends up crap. The end result would be 3 inadequate or requires improvement schools with no parental choice.

We need more faith schools, more grammar schools, more free schools and more choice not less. If parents want to send their children to state schools with those of the same faith as their own they should be allowed to do so. Of course outstanding Roman Catholic schools are just as selective as outstanding Church of England schools
I'm not a leftie, but of course you think that Genghis Khan was a parlour pinko anyway.

    Have you not considered that

    (a) it is an outrage for public money to be spent on your pet sectarian stuff
    (b) it is people like your spending public resources on your pet sectarian schools that cause major efficiency and fairness issues?
    (c) it is people like you taking no interest in the non-faith or non-posh schools that causes a major part of the problem with state education>
Yes you are, you are a died in the wool pinko socialist, near Communist Scottish nationalist.

No, it is not an outrage for public money to be spent on outstanding faith schools producing highly educated pupils to benefit all of us. I am a conservative with an ideological commitment to choice in education as much as the economy, so no I actually think it improves efficiency.

I don't believe in lowest common denominator education, the more private schools, grammar schools and free and faith schools the better as far as I am concerned
Hoy, I'm not a near-communist or a pinko - so you had better rethink your proselytising skills. Not to mention your analytical ones.

And "faith schools" producing highly educated pupils? What are you on? Incense?

'83 per cent of pupils in Church of England schools, and 85 per cent of pupils in Roman Catholic schools achieved level 4+ in reading writing and mathematics, compared to 81 percent in non-faith schools.

60.6 per cent of pupils in Church of England schools, and 63.2 per cent of pupils in Roman Catholic schools, achieved five good GCSEs, including English and mathematics, compared to 57.4 per cent of pupils in non-faith secondary schools'
    https://epi.org.uk/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/Pupil_characteristics_and_performance_at_faith_schools.pdf
So you're saying that religious schools denude the economy of lower skilled workers, meaning that we need to import lots of Romanians and Poles to act as cleaners and baristas.

Innocent until proven guilty not a thing anymore?

First, it never was, and secondly, not applicable. As I am neither a judge nor a juror I feel entitled to form views as soon as the evidence seems to point one way rather than the other, and to express them to the extent the law of defamation lets me get away with.

Thought experiment: let's assume you have a small child, and a potential babysitter with no criminal record but out on bail and about to be tried for serious sexual offences. Innocent until proven guilty?

FPT, not the discharges themselves, per the ruling:

“Subject to a point which we make below, there was nothing unlawful in the policy on
discharges from NHS hospitals contained in the documents of 17-19 March 2020. The
fact that as matters turned out the NHS was not overwhelmed and its expanded
capacity was never breached, a point laboured by Mr Coppel, does not assist his
argument on this issue. The Government was advised by experts that there was a real risk of the NHS being overwhelmed and it could not afford to wait to see whether that
    advice was over-cautious.“

The unlawful part was that, quoting someone on twitter only, that “the drafters of the policy didn’t take into account the need to quarantine asymptomatic discharged patients, so that that they would be kept away from other care home residents.” which was unreasonable to a point of unlawfulness.

Bloody weird case. Seriously weird. I indulged a flight of fancy the other day about Boris defecating on the despatch box during PMQs and brazening it out while Sue Gray investigated, and this is a bit like that. It is eeeeuw behaviour but it isn't by most standards particularly immoral. It's not illegal (unless it is extreme porn in which case he is obv toast) and in fact contrasts rather favourably with his colleagues who molest actual women (unless he has been at that too). If he does go or get pushed, it's going to put Boris's failure to go under the spotlight.

It is not a good look but it is not actually illegal to watch adult porn in the House of Commons. It is also not automatically a sackable offence as only constituents can remove their MP at a general election or their local party if they fail to re select them.

So fail to see why this leads to a by election?

    Off Topic
Just noticed the government's policy on moving people from hospital to care homes without testing has been declared unlawful. A lot of harrowing personal stories. I honestly don't know how the ministers in this government sleep at night.

I was in some of the bed management meetings where this was discussed at the peak of the first wave. Face to face meetings too, as Zoom hadn't yet become a thing. It was a weird and scary time.

There was a fear of hospitals being ovrrwhelmed by admissions, but also of risk to vulnerable patients of hospital acquired covid. An element of the discharge policy was to protect these vulnerable patients.

The way it was implemented was wrong though. They should have been tested, or at least gone into quarantine on arrival. A difficult PPE situation in the care homes though.

Tend to agree. But the Privileges Committee might think it was worthy of suspension as contempt of Parliament which could cause a recall petition.

I don't know what's become of basic manners in parliament, an honourable member shouldn't be peeking at another honourable member's phone.

I've had it with politics and public life. The way women are treated in the Commons, the language, the use of porn, the misogyny and lack of basic decency, 56 MPs from all parties accused of sexual harassment, the failure to do anything at all after the Dame Laura Cox report etc. I am just utterly fed up and disgusted with this constant brutish oafishness which far too many people in politics, in the police, in finance and elsewhere seem to think normal and acceptable.
Yes quite agree. But this case is particularly weird. Doubtless we'll know more in due course.

It depends really. If somebody caught a glimpse of somebodies phone and there was explicit material showing, there could be a mitigating circumstances. However, if there is a pattern of behaviour, where they just sit around in public watching this stuff and numerous people have witnessed this, that is more tricky.

However, I highly doubt, unless the material is illegal, it will come to more than the person being publicly embarrassed and being anonymous backbencher. I could see some sort of mea culpa about being a sex accident.

April 30 last year was, I recall, after a relaxation from lockdown.

I remember because the very moment the opportunity arose I hotfooted it to Devon. I just checked and that was the after the 12 April.

So the Mail (and the Tories quoted it the article - like Nadine Dorries, and the PB Tories hoping for a pile on - like Marquee Mark) are talking shite.

There’s no point picking on me, just because you don’t like the mail scoop and the fact the police are now reopening it based on the extra details Guido and Mail have dredged up.

All I did was flag up the facts, it was lockdown, it was a gathering of too many people, food and alcohol was involved. Personally I do not think it’s quite the same thing as the birthday party nut nut organised for her big dog, but then truth is, the one Sunak and Boris has been done for was presumed to be the more fleeting and small fry of the actual party gatherings, so a surprise they couldn’t get off with it. The reopening of Starmer’s case comes after the knowledge MET issued notices for this smaller of the Downing Street work gatherings with food and alcohol. It’s not the repeated proper partying that has caused the Downing street scandal, but we will just have to wait if the reopened investigation deems it a breach of the rules based on the tough yardstick now set by… the yard.

Actually the main big political revelation of the evening imo is the Javid story. His defence has been it was before he was in politics, the life entitled before politics. If true, this now places him as an MP in the treasury no less. What could be damaging is, it looks like he hadn’t told the truth.

The other big political story of the evening is the UK foreign Secretary dramatically resetting in stone the UK war aims. She is not grand standing, this has obviously been cleared at every level of government. It’s a key shift because it means the West are now open in wanting the war to go on until Russia is kicked out Ukraine completely, not something Russia will accept.

Sorry what is KS guilty of now?

Tonight’s huge breaking story in the Mail. Have the Tories shot Labours fox?

Starmer called getting a fine for lockdown breach a resigning matter. But then when he said that no one expected Boris to get a fine for the cake ambush, which wasn’t a lockdown party at all, which appears an identical event with the same DNA to SKS Takeaway Blow out in many ways, does it not?

So looked at again, and treated on a par with Boris cake ambush moment, Starmer is in serious trouble here isn’t he?

Half a sixpence is better than half a penny, Is better than half a farthing, is better than none. Goodnight Blob Fish 😝

Exactly. I agree. I ran out of time before finishing the last bit. Its not something they will accept without a fight, so what we are agreeing on it means this war goes on and on, our proxy support for it, and all the sanctions until Russia “accept what they are given” as you put it. That likely means a long time, all the while danger of escalation.

But do you agree with my analysis, thinking have indeed moved subtly, shifted from support to Ukraine from a West expecting a short war, to the West settling in comfortably now planning for a very long campaign.

Margarita Simonyan has just posted on Telegram that the "Anglo-Saxons" are idiots and asks whether we want to leave them with no choice but to destroy the rest of Ukraine or launch a nuclear strike.

Re the Daily Mail headline, didn’t this come out several months ago and it turned out there was no case to answer?

If so, this is the Daily Mail grossly sucking up to the lying government. But what can you expect from the purveyors of “hurrah for the blackshirts”?

Not quite - Durham decided it didn’t meet the threshold of being worth investigating

I don't know what's become of basic manners in parliament, an honourable member shouldn't be peeking at another honourable member's phone.

Not a resigning issue and no path to a by-election.

There will not be a resignation.

I thought (sometimes still think) that she is a 'Leon' creation. There are certain similarities with his oeuvre. However, if she is, she is a way more believable and fleshed out creation than any of his other aliases I've seen here, which is creditable. Of course, she could be a real poster, in which case I can only apologise for doubting her and blame past experience for my suspicions.
