Dems have some kind of weird death wish where they engineer four more years of Trump don't they?

I think Bernie can beat Trump. Trump won because people are fed up with the status quo, which Trump offered an answer to. Bernie also offers an answer to the status quo, one which is becoming increasingly attractive to Americans who think things aren't improving. All Bernie needs to do is win over the 2016 Trump voters who think things haven't got any better since Trump was elected.

He really is a twat. If they want full voting rights they should become full British citizens. For someone who wanted us to stay in the EU he clearly doesn't want us to follow the example of practically every other EU country when it comes to voting rights.
Looks like Starmer's natural inclination is to be voter repellant too. What next - a vote for all relatives abroad? Triple-votes for illegal immigrants?

Go on Nandy, call him out as a pillock who will trash the rest of the Red Wall.....
If your main priority is cutting immigration Starmer probably realises you will stick with Boris or Farage regardless, he is targeting Tory Remainers and soft Leavers who are attracted by staying in the Single Market

Which is May's deal plus a customs border between Great Britain and Northern Ireland!

RLB looks to have had a much better night today, albeit that she still trails Starmer even on today's nominations - but by much less than usual.

All the same, it is daft that the Democrats could well have a nominee* before Labour has a new leader.

    * For practical purposes, if not formally.

Not really very different to what the Tories did post-1997 when Major announced he was stepping down on 2nd May with Hague selected as his successor in the early Autumn. Much the same in 2001 when Hague steps down early June with IDS chosen a few months later. Ditto Michael Howard in May 2005 - with Cameron not elected until December!

Yet minus a 'temporary' customs union for GB until a technical solution for the Irish border was found

Will Boris sack Javid over his insistence that HS2 should proceed?

This from today's (Friday's) Daily Telegraph:

"Tensions between the two former party leadership rivals became so evident ahead of the general election that Downing Street was reported to have told other departments to deal with Rishi Sunak, the Chief Secretary to the Treasury, rather than Mr Javid."

Javid is acting as if he owns the joint and is top dog as regards deciding on major policy issues - it's essential at this early stage of his administration that Boris demonstrates in the most definitive way possible, i.e. by firing him, that this is not the case.
For my money Sunak is value at 22/1 with Ladbrokes (incl their bonus, otherwise 20/1) to be the next Tory Leader. These odds would surely halve should he succeed Javid as Chancellor.

No, it isn't. It is a harder Brexit than May's deal as it does not sign up for Level Playing Field provisions. It also has a consent mechanism for Northern Ireland. Plus the Customs Border is between NI and ROI - it is just the checks are between NI and ROI (and seem like they will be only one way).

I desperately want a soft Brexit but there should be reciprocity. EU citizens should only be able to vote in UK elections if we can vote in all EU countries' elections. I don't know why Remainers keep on falling into this trap of demanding one-way concessions. Makes it very easy for the Tories to say we are not looking out for Brits.

I think that we have already passed the Feb 9 projection 10 days early in terms of numbers infected, and will match the number of fatalities for Feb 9 tomorrow. Scary stuff indeed if it hits.

    Nah, it’s fine.

Coronavirus is well understood (canine had it nailed although we do still struggle with corona induced feline pneumonia).

We’re not all going to die

    Sorry to disappoint
  • Looks like Butler will manage to make the ballot. She needs 33 CLPs
Murray lost 3 Scottish CLPs tonight. Not positive for him

No, she has no chance of qualifying.

    She is still a woman.
