From official trade statistics, the proportions of Scottish exports of physical goods (inc agricultural bulk exports) is IIRC 38% to the rUK, 31.5% to the EU and 30.5% to the rest of the World.
If Richard is seriously suggesting there will be major disruption to rUK/EU trade in services, and by association Scotland/rUK services trading, can he give us some evidence?
The idea that in an independent Scotland a homeowner would be prevented getting a mortgage from a UK provider, or a Scottish firm providing an insurance policy in the other direction is absurd.
It's absolutely not absurd. How are the Scottish government going to allow financial products to be sold that they have no regulatory control over? Or that won't get taken into account when the Bank makes interest rate decision?
The idea that Scotland won't need a completely independent financial services industry is ridiculous. It may be multinational companies providing those mortgages and services, but they won't be sold out of London under FCA regulations.
And obviously the same is true for Scottish companies selling into the UK, the government will require them to sell from a UK subsidiary under UK regulations.
Is this a good time to move to Scotland from England? is Scotland effected greatly by brexit? Are they still looking at becoming independent? What is unemployment/ the financial climate like right now? I've been looking at jobs, and im wondering if the scottish tax system is the same as england because on this tax calculator it says its different in some way, but doesnt specify how? Want to know what kind of salaries I should be looking at?
