Boris meanwhile orders more champagne at his Mustique villa, with Long Bailey or Lavery looks like another Tory general election win in the bag

Lavery has no chance of winning. But the fact he's being touted as a candidate suggests the Corbynite left aren't exactly enthused by RLB.

    I backed Lavery at 240.

Alas I then laid him at 140.

    Last?

The competition to have the last word is by some way more futile than the one to bag a First....
I thought this was a unique opportunity as PB went down for good. My "last?" would appear forever, etched as an image on the event horizon of the PB black hole.
    A fine plan.

But now ? Tears in rain.

How often have we said that about Labour contenders - starting with Corbyn in 2015?

What do these songs have in common? -

    Winter Wonderland
    Christmas In Hollis
Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let it Snow!
    Jingle Bells

I posted the video to Hollis upthread :)

Who do you think then? RLB? Thornberry? Can't see it being Jess Phillips or (unfortunately) Lisa Nandy.

I think he meant "win the next election"...

I am so green on Thornberry that she has no chance.

Lavery has no chance of winning. But the fact he's being touted as a candidate suggests the Corbynite left aren't exactly enthused by RLB.

If he runs then the Left are split.

The best news in politics for an age.

    Go Lavery!

That only matters for nominations. They have STV for their voting system.

But if there are two left wing candidates then 21 nominations each might be a step too far.

So: what defines an Xmas movie?

Is it the presence of Santa Claus?
    Is it an uplifting moral?
Is it the existence of characters who think they deserve something for nothing?
Is it the presence of an older, overweight actor?
Is it the timing of the movie?

A Christmas film is something you can watch with very young children, Die Hard falls on that count.
So does A Christmas Carol on that Criteria. Die Hard is a Christmas film now, the more you argue it isn’t at this time of year, the more it becomes part of the tradition. It is the Die Hard deniers that have made it a Christmas film. Ironic.
That's true. It used to be shown on TV all year round, now only in December.

    I would call it STV.

    Shall we compromise on ‘preferential?’

No, as Labour have preferential voting not FPTP so Lavery votes will transfer to Long Bailey and vice versa
