These Labour MPs that are going to vote for the deal are probably going to save Labour seats at next GE. Far from being condemned they should be hailed as heroes!

Imagine a Labour Party with Caroline Flint as leader.

Even I could vote for that.

Do you think you might not be representative of a wider potential Labour voting audience?

The Letwin Amendment means there’s no approval for the deal . It’s basically saying we’ve declined to say yes or no .

Some amendments add to a motion this replaces most of the motion .

It might be he pulls this in the morning if the government finds a way to alleviate concerns .

The petty mindedness of those MPs who can’t accept they’ve lost absolutely infuriates me.

Given the replies here you aren't the only one ;)

    https://twitter.com/oletwinofficial/status/1185238071735996416
I’m not one to argue with a trained lawyer but that’s not the case . The amendment takes out any approval . Once amended the government motion is not a MV4 .

I urge fellow posters to look at the amendment, it clearly removes that approval .
Indeed. That's why people on Twitter are saying Letwin isn't being truthful.

    For example:

    https://twitter.com/alexwickham/status/1185240240962842624

    https://twitter.com/MrHarryCole/status/1185249844404932608

    https://twitter.com/DPJHodges/status/1185241929774194688
The public aren't buying this shit anymore about wanting a deal, but but but but..no not this one, delay that one, no GE, etc etc etc.

    An old joke.

Q: Why do economists put decimal points in their forecasts?

A: To prove they've got a sense of humour.

(It would be nice if, like scientists, they stuck more error bars on things, but even that's more useful for collected data than for projections, where much of the uncertainty is inherently in the modelling methodology itself rather than in, say, sampling error.)

    Link to Survation:

Very good poll for Con / Boris on every measure, eg:

Lab voters prefer Boris as PM 47-26
Lab voters think Con will win GE 43-15

Supposedly De Piero might vote yes, or abstain. That probably means the vote will pass, unless a lot of the ERG decide against - and given Francois has said yes, that doesn't seem likely.

He claims the amended bill would show the House supports the deal. It doesn't. It just says the deal has been considered. It makes the vote legally meaningless.

    Figured PB would enjoy this..

Who would have thought maverick leftwinger Jeremy Corbyn would get his picture on Labour's Islington North leaflet and not the PM? (Mr Corbyn pops up again on the Lib Dem leaflets dubbed "Blair's candidate Corbyn" which is a shocking new insult for the serial rebel and opponent of foundation hospitals, the war in Iraq, top-up fees and control orders.)

Corbyn served his penance for a shot at the leadership, the mighty Jezza cast as a Blairite, I'm hurt even now looking back...

The amendment takes out the words of the motion which say the house supports the deal.

    Nah, by plane :)

But there's always the Barcelona Metro, if it's actually running! A bit pissed that the ornate cathedral Sagrada Familia is closed for the time being.

I suppose I could climb on top of a metro train, but that's just so XR :)

That's a shame, it is amazing. Parc Guell is really good on a nice day, and the Nou Camp if you're a football fan.

Great tapas and bars down at Barceloneta, as well.

Paul Mason spectacularly bonkers on Newsnight.

    What did he say?
He thinks any Labour MP backing the deal "lacks moral fibre" and presumably should be turfed out of the Party.

National Labour lead by the formidible Caroline Flint here we come? :D
Also, when Kirsty Wark introduced him as an activist, he bellowed 'JOURNALIST' at her.

    What. A. Prick.
He is another one obsessed with Remain

Reminds me of one of the Party leaders well actually about 4 of them

    All females!!

So presumably I am not allowed to post about them.
How come BJO can say this but I make one little joke about Kay Burley doing breakfast on SKY and have someone telling me off? :D
    I got away with nothing!

    I am a fool a bully and a Dick.

Your comments about KB were a complete disgrace, what were they again!!!
Don't think I'd better open that can of worms again. :D
I got excoriated on here a few years back for a rather ungallant comment about Caroline Lucas
The one time I got sin-binned by OGH (only time in 12 years which isn't bad going IMO) was when I called George Osborne "a creep" :D
Debasing Radiohead like that is a hanging offence round these parts.....

So we are at the point where the Remainer Dream either dies at the hands of Bercow ruling out Letwin's Amendment as a wrecking amendment, or else at the hands of the EU, telling them to go away and vote again until they get the right result - Brexit.

A fitting end to their psychodrama.

This day is call'd the feast of the MV.
He that outlives this day, and comes safe home,
Will stand a tip-toe when this day is nam'd,
And rouse him at the name of Brexit.
He that shall live this day, and see old age,
Will yearly on the vigil feast his neighbors,
And say "To-morrow is the anniversary of the MV."
Then will he strip his sleeve and show his scars,
And say "These wounds I had on MV day."
Old men forget; yet all shall be forgot,
    But he'll remember, with advantages,
What feats he did that day. Then shall our names,
Familiar in his mouth as household words-
Boris the King, Gove and the Moggster,
Flint and Kinnock, Rory and Clarke-
Be in their flowing cups freshly rememb'red.
    This story shall the good man teach his son;
And the anniversary of the MV shall ne'er go by,
From this day to the ending of the world,
But we in it shall be remembered-
    We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;
For he to-day that sheds his blood with me
Shall be my brother; be he ne'er so vile,
    This day shall gentle his condition;
    And gentlemen in Derry now-a-bed
Shall think themselves accurs'd they were not here,
And hold their manhoods cheap whiles any speaks
That fought with us upon MV day.

Barnsley where Labour won 64% last time? Double the Tories and Ukip combined.

(Wanders off-topic) That's Roy Mason's old seat. You don't see many pipe-smoking politicians these days; at least, you do not see many politicians smoking pipes. Harold Wilson, Roy Mason, Tony Benn.

But oddly e-cigarettes are not so different. You inhale through a tube connected to a thing containing the nicotine supply, the same thing is used for months and years, heat is applied to the nicotine source, a few drags are taken and then the thing is put down for a few minutes.

Of course the resulting pollution is totally different.

Those Labour MPs voting for Johnson's Deal need to be told that what they propose to do is the equivalent to a Jew in the Reichstag voting for Hitler's Enabling Act in March 1933.

Without doubt one of the most absurd sentences ever uttered on PB
Notes of envy and grudging respect.
