I think OGH is being both too cynical and not cynical enough here. It's one thing to say that 'These things just happen now', but the truth is lots of candidates don't get these accusations, so I think we would be wrong to be too dismissive of this as simply a political move by someone. On the other hand I think he isn't cynical enough when he suggests the damage won't be that bad. It all comes down to the strength of the accuser's story and if others follow suit. On the Dem side this could sink his campaign in a week if, IF, it looks genuine.
With Biden also hit by similar allegations the biggest beneficiaries could be Sanders and O'Rourke (Buttigieg has taken some of his backing as the fresh new kid on the block)
No idea, but are they the source or just the first people to spot the Medium post? Or is that the same thing in this case.
Am trying to find out, this is Big League Politics bio
The prevailing themes on Big League Politics form a new American political identity, one that emphasizes economic nationalism and bipartisan patriotism. America is a country with its own values and interests. The establishment will always try to rig the system in favor of globalism in the markets and U.S.-led wars overseas. We seek to forge a new path, bringing together conservatives, progressives, libertarians, independents and all those who believe that America should be put First.
I am surprised the stuff about the police chief tapes wasn't a bigger deal. His answers on the CNN town hall were less than convincing (and his central excuse for not listening to them, was about as convincing as Trump's reasons for not releasing his tax returns).

Funny as it is too see people instinctively disbelieve anything bad could have been done by someone on their side, it does seem dodgy... Hunter Kelly joined twitter in April 2019, and his 3rd tweet is this accusation 🤔
This doesn’t seem real - or at least it smacks of being used for a political agenda. An accusation with literally zero facts about the incident. A sympathetic description of the victim. And a promise of a drip drip narrative.

Doesn’t seem real given the fact Trump is seemingly untroubled by similar accusations.

If it pushes the price out and is fake news then just back him, no?

Looks like the Kavanaugh fight made weaponised sexual assault allegations just another part of modern American politics.
All that does is make some people feel that such claims are false or being made for an ulterior motive. It does nothing for the victims of such crimes and it allows perpetrators to present themselves as victims of witch hunts.

"America First" was the slogan of the America First committee. It predates Donald Trump, indeed this rally shows active campaigning by them in 1940, to stop supplies to Britain.
Talks between the Tories and Labour have moved onto the 'nuts and bolts' of a possible Brexit compromise according to Labour's Sarah Hayman.
"Shackling yourself to a sinking ship" seems like a novel position for Her Majesty's Most Loyal Opposition to take, but I guess Corbyn is nothing if not full of surprises.

Is this a good time to mention Mike's booked a holiday in early June?
Nailed on then :-)
May and June is when I start my new job AND when I'm attending lots of world cup matches, and hopefully a Liverpool v Ajax or Spurs champions league final.

If it looks likely that May might be forced out in June, what possible incentive would Labour have now for agreeing a deal?
And if May is forced out and we get another PM foisted on us, there is no chance of any deal being agreed by October so when we come to ask for another extension, we will have wasted the time granted. And still have no plan.
Or, God help us, we get foisted on us a No Deal PM.

I would like a quite period in politics.
Well quiet.
Ducking autocorrect.
The best way to understand autocorrect is to think of it as a helpful elf in your phone correcting your errors who is in fact quite drunk.

You know, between you and Mike you have jinxed it right?
I know. Did you see where X killed Y? And the bit where Z died defending Q? And who knew that R could achieve a degree of redemption? And when C fought D, woah!
I wonder if this will be as successful as the fold.
For people who film vertically on their phones?
In the early 90s there was a monitor called the Radius Pivot, which would work in either landscape or portrait mode. It was targeted at desktop publishing professionals with the idea they could see a whole page on screen at once.
Most good ideas have been thought of before... as have most bad ones.

Before I got twin ultra-wide curved jobbies....I used to have a very large central monitor and had two smaller ones placed either side, which when flipped to portrait lined up with the central monitor. I found it very useful to put a paper I was reading on the portrait monitor and code on the large central one.
On topic: If Hunter Kelly has a genuine allegation to make, this seems a very odd way to make it.
A Google for Hunter Kelly doesn't show up any sign of existence prior to these allegations: no LinkedIn or Facebook page, for example.
My reading from this is that Pete Buttigieg is likely guilty of multiple sexual assaults and deliberately put this fake assault story out, so as to discredit the hundreds of genuine accusations that will come out.

Most monitors will work in any direction with windows. All you need is the right mounting at the back for the monitor itself. To give it a try just hit ctrl/alt and one of the direction arrows all at the same time. It is a great trick to play on people who don't know how to put it back the right way again.
Sue Hayman, not Sarah. I rate her technically similarly to Gove, whom she shadows - the same kind of serious interest in detailed policy. But not someone who decides Labour policy - rather, if the leadership wants to reach an agreement (perhaps in the national interest? - such things have been known), she's the one who will confirm that the deal is reasonably watertight in the key agriculture/environment areas.

I recall campaigning for Sue back in 2005 in Preseli. Was impressed by her then, still am. As a staunch remainer though, bit worried if talks are getting down to detail, but as they say 'the devil's...."..

That’s an incredibly high risk strategy, if true.
One very well known fraudster did something similar - though related to his financial dealings. And it worked, for a surprisingly long time.

I'm sorry, I was making a gag. I don't for a second think him guilty*, I'm just using the warped logic of cognitive dissonance at its finest.
The text says "could", but the headline says "will".
My money is on him seeing Boris Johnson, MP on the trip. Whether he sees Nigel Farage is another matter altogether.
I would be surprised if he had dinner with Nigel and Boris at the same time (although it might be amusing if he did). And he isn't in London long enough to have more than a couple of dinners.
Interesting question. If you believe the Change poll from a week ago, then in Texas, he's five points clear of Biden, seven ahead of Sanders, and ten ahead of Buttigieg.
If he holds that lead, and manages his solid mid teen position in California, he's a clear third behind Sanders and Biden at the end of Super Tuesday.
But we're a long way from the first Primaries. My guess is that no more than eight candidates will be on the ballot in Iowa, and perhaps five or six for Super Tuesday. So, it will be interesting to see where Kristen Gillibrand's (for example) supporters go.

(actually it would buy 6% of a new routemaster or a whole second hand party limo bus off eBay)
The first two episodes of series 8 moved the pieces around the board. Episode 3 was most certaintly a monumental mix of spectacle and OMG "moments".
