Pedant note: "Friends of Damian Green launched a ‘table cloth’ defence against claims he touched a woman’s knee - insisting she may have mistaken his hand for a piece of material." - shouldn't that be "mistaken a piece of material for his hand"?
But whichever friend decided to go to the press with this concept is not very bright, or not really a friend.
Does that make her a material witness? Or is that immaterial?

Perhaps it is all a tissue of lies.
It might involve at least a couple of Silks to resolve it.
Donna Brazile has a new book coming out. Hacks. In it she relates how Obama left the Democratic Party in total meltdown and the DNC $24 million in debt, and the Hillary campaign bailed the DNC out and put it on life support. It had become dependent on her campaign for survival, and she expected to wield control of its operations ahead of the nomination. In short by controlling the DNC's purse strings she rigged the nomination for herself.
Elizabeth Warren was asked this afternoon if the Dems nomination process was rigged by and for Hillary and her simple response - "yes".
So we now have 3 major scandals involving the Clintons. Uranium One, the fact that her campaign paid for Kremlin disinformation against Trump, and the fact that her campaign hijacked the DNC long before she got the nomination.
There's plenty more to come from Brazile's book.
The Clintons have now lost control of the party to the BernieBros and the fans of Pocohontas, with Bannon and Trumpers now taking hold of the wheel of the GOP the establishments in both parties have lost control of the wheel for about the first time in US history.
Meanwhile Labour belongs to the Bennite left and if the Tory membership ever gets a say, it will be Rees Mogg.
"(Gavin Williamson) also has zero experience as a minister and is now running a department which oversees the massive defence budget which is a significant part of Britain’s GDP."
Oh no - she's done it again. The first time was when she picked Boris Johnson, a man with zero experience of foreign affairs, of central government, and even of being a shadow minister. She put him in charge of foreign affairs when the job got hard, after the referendum.
Can anyone actually be this incompetent? Or was it that nobody with a modicum of experience and competence (such as Amber Rudd for example) wanted to accept promotion if it would mean they'd get too closely associated with a prime minister who is so obviously on her way out? Or, which is probably the same point in different words, is it that she has no friends other than the whips? Esther McVey is an appallingly bad pick too. This government is a flipping nightmare. And at a time like this! This is the most incompetent crew I have ever seen in power in this country.

They could just be talking at cloth purposes. I knew you'd finally cotton on to it.

Quite possibly, the rise of the pitchforks is present on both sides of the Atlantic
During meetings of the Tresasury Select Committee?? Weird. I served on it for years - very interesting, but I don't remember anyone ever attempting a joke, let alone a lewd remark. I think that voters viewing the current revelations may get the impression that MPs are a lot livelier than they generally are.
He denies it. I respect someone who when an allegation is made about them in public, they deny it in public. That's assuming they are telling the truth. Dominic Raab has made a public denial too. Those who haven't publicly denied the allegations made about them in the Dirty 40 spreadsheet look like creeps, including the one in the Great Office of State. Everyone knows what has been said about Boris Johnson and William Wragg and IMO they should respond on the record. If scurrilous false allegations are being made, then denounce them as that
Which is not to say that the dreadful - the horror! - knee-touching event was the cause of Fallon's fall, which few seriously believe.
What is Andrea Leadsom up to? If it's true what she says, why say it now? If it's not true, why say it now? The baseline hypothesis is I suppose that she wants her name in the papers in preparation for another leadership bid. Then you have to wonder whether the government isn't being deliberately destabilised, the plan being for it to fall and fall soon, because this kind of crap can't go on for much longer.
The tipping point, to use a now dated phrase, may be when cabinet ministers and perhaps some shadow ones too say look, Brexit is an utterly crap idea, every day this is proved ever further beyond doubt, so just let's stay the hell in the EU already, we have a responsibility to say we can't deliver Brexit if we can't, and that's what we're doing. Don't like it? Well we're having a GE now, so vote us out. Vote for Alf Garnett if you want. Your choice. The problem from a Tory POV is that that would mean the end of the Tory party. But since its "divisions over Europe" have wracked it since the time of Thatcher and Heseltine, maybe it's about time.

This thing is going to drag on and on and on.
And politics just gets worse.
