I suspect you're right but all the same, it'd be a really bad political error. Plaid would have far more power on the opposition benches. Labour in Ireland made much the same mistake in 2011. They could have become the official opposition and forced a weak Fine Gail to make deal after deal with all and sundry, condemning Fianna Fail to the obscurity of a secondary opposition party (or - lol - junior government party to GF!), and riding the tide of opposition. Instead they became the whipping boys and lost over three-quarters of their seats in 2016.
Ireland's opposition is trying that now as if they learned that lesson, but I still think if you deal with a government to keep it in place like the Liberals in the 1970s, people will notice.
Is some body seriously trying to argue chavez time in power was a success...just wow...the amount of money they earned from oil that just "disappeared" is staggering. Corruption on an industrial scale & virtually no progress, just disaster after disaster.
Go & watch the BBC guy who does those trips around the equator etc (this was before the oil price Collapse) & he said it was one of the worst countries he had ever been to & that included many war torn ones.
''Plaid might be foolish to take it, but Leanne Wood is a Socialist, a Valleys girl and possessed of the political acumen of a daffodil. I think she'll accept a tie-up.''
What's the difference between Wood's Plaid Cymru and Welsh labour, really?? Almost zero, I would have thought. The usual platitudes on health and education, plus deep bitterness and resentment to the English tax payer that pays for it all.
Perhaps we'll see a Labour/Tory coalition in Wales.
And perhaps it will be escorted in by a fly past of aviating porcines.
It would be awesomely funny and destroy Labour, Corbyn and Andrew Davies. But sadly even though it would lead to all those very desirable outcomes, it will never, ever happen. See upthread about the visceral hatred the Labour Party have for Conservatives in Wales. If anything, the poster understates it.
What is the reaction to this statement from cps / electoral commission about tory battle buses. To me it sounds like buck passing, where it is up to each force to want to spend time / effort doing the leg work, asking for extensions, etc

Do you mean Simon Reeve? It just reminded me of when he met Imelda Marcos...

Anybody wondering what a corbyn government would be like...better start stocking up on bog roll now just in case...could be worth a fortune come 2022...
If memory serves we had runs (sorry) on bog-rolls, sugar, and salt under Thatcher. To be fair to her, however, I must also recall that the last case didn't amount to much after she pointed out that this country on its own has plenty of salt.
ISTR that the Common Market'policies on maintaining prices resulted in things like butter mountains and lakes of something-or-other but none on the shelves.

What did Jezza and diane and john say about Venezuela?
Having noted a poll yesterday showing AfD well down, in fairness should note another one today showing them at a record 15%. SPD sinking to 20% level. NEVER BE A JUNIOR PARTNER - what part of that do party leaders not understand?

Chancellor Merkel is always right.
Shortly before the 2010 general election, Cameron visited Angela Merkel and, with a hung parliament looming, asked her what it was like to lead a coalition. She replied:
Re jezza meeting the Donald...we shouldn't be surprised really jezza has a long record of meeting with extremist "friends" who people want banned from the UK...
In 2012, Barack Obama won a staggering 93 percent of African American votes, 71 percent of Hispanic votes and 73 percent of Asian American votes. Whatever one can say about Trump, he presents a radically different kind of choice from Mitt Romney. Can he really do much worse?

Donald won't tell Jezza to get to the back of the queue.
@BJO- so sorry to hear your news hasn't been better. Take care of yourself and Mrs BJO.
Funnily enough I was thinking about pbCOM much earlier today when I was out, particularly, SBS, one of the kindest and most sensible posters we have had here. I recall well a photo of SBS that Mike posted towards the end, and a lovely note written by his wife.
Anyway, in SBS's memory, and in light of BJO's post today too, there are much bigger issues that we all face on a day to day basis than the knockabout stuff that mostly permeates pbCOM.

There are also by-elections tomorrow in Sheffield Brightside&Hillsborough and Ogmore.
There was a time when people really looked forward to by-elections even, or especially, in safe Labour seats.
Someone might have written a thread previewing them, having just noticed how little attention they'd been given previously ...
Re: HoC by elections Which of the "How LEAVE are making mistakes/doomed/f**ked threads would you not have had? How would TSE/Nabavi/Meeks write about something they actually know about rather than writing about LEAVE?
A few years back the Tory candidate in Trimdon got no votes. Not even Blair voted for them!
You mean that the Conservative was declared to have zero votes - there were plenty of people who appeared in the media afterwards saying that they had voted Conservative.
There were a few coincidences in that electoral count - the Conservative candidate being not there, the media being immediately informed of the Conservative getting zero votes and all in Blair's own constituency.
A suspicious person might even think that it was all set up to provide a slight distraction to a dreadful Labour national performance.

Blair was not even born in Sedgefield. Let's see his birth cert.
Remain catching up on the headline figures, but certainty to vote is bad - Leave 12 points ahead among those who are absolutely certain. Note also that the poll shows Labour in the lead. The poll is not especially fresh: Apr 22-26.

Epic fail yet again

On the flips side romney did really well with white women & trumps approval with them makes jeremy hunt seem popular with the doctors..
