Is that a euphemism for badger watching?

Naturally he was surrounded by leftist academics and apparently ‘encountered Fabian thinking’ in particular
Really, Miss Plato, I am surprised at you. Lowering the tone of the discussion like that and you a lady too.

Off topic and if @SeanT or any of our other Italian PB'ers is around:

I need a break - as suffering from bronchitis for the last 2 months which even 2 courses of antibiotics have not managed to remove. I was thinking of the Friuli/N Eastern bit of Italy which SeanT raved about. Does anyone have the link to the article? Or remember the places he talked about? Heat and mountain air might do me good. I will bring my own Thomas Mann novels.

Sorry to hear that. Get well soon.

@Aidan_Kerr1: Interesting off the record comment from an SNP MP on Jeremy Corbyn, he's the leader they fear most. http://t.co/WmiU0D2yqx

Well don't include 'Death in Venice' or The Magic Mountain' - try Buddenbrooks - a German version of the Forsythe Saga :)

Reading my Telegraph on my sun bed this morning it was evident they were pissing themselves laughing. And no wonder.

The sad truth is that if any of the candidates could give a speech half as good as Blair did yesterday this would be a walk in the park for them. But they can't. They frankly all make Ed look good and even coherent. What a mess.

It is impossible not to laugh but governments without effective opposition always overreach and fail to correct their mistakes quickly enough. Does anyone think Lansleys dreadful act would have survived if Labour and Burnham were competent? Not a chance.

My wife and I had a wonderful walking (plus eating & drinking!) holiday in the Alto Adige a few years ago. It was this intinerary:

It's a delightful mixture of Italian and Austrian influences.

(We also stayed in Verona at the start and end of the trip, which was delightful).

If you do go to that area, an absolute must-see is the extraordinarily well-preserved remains of the Copper Age man (and his clothes, tools etc) in Bolzano [Bozen]. One of the most memorable musuem visits I've ever made:

Dair - I think you make some fair points. Labour ought to be concerned that what has happened in Scotland could happen in other regions, however, moving leftwards is not going to help it win. If you look at Lab's position by nation/region you get the following:

    NW - 51/75
    London - 45/73
    Yorks & H - 33/54
    NE - 26/29
    W Mids - 25/59
    Wales - 25/40
    E Mids - 14/46
    SE - 4/84
    E England - 4/58
    SW - 4/55
    Scotland - 1/59

Unless Labour can stage a substantial recovery in Scotland (which looks unlikely) then it will need to do much much better in the South outside London and the Midlands. Places like Reading and Milton Keynes that Lab need to win are actually doing pretty well economically. A hard left message is not going to win these sorts of places over.

That is awful from both of them.
Dawn Butler vs Kay Burley....god wept...
I understand that one Barack Obama will be issuing a signed letter praising Dawn Butler's performance on Sky News
Given that, her expenses and that fact she is a total moron, her constituents must be as thick as she is to re-elected her as an MP...
There are no doubt many MPs who are morons, but I don't think it follows that their constituents are morons for electing them - maybe disinterested or not bothered, so long as the right rosette wins?
