So Mercedes,BMW,VW etc. don't make any money from the UK market.

    You do spout some garbage.

They don't really care. Even BMW which is actually exposed to the UK economy owns the rights to Mini. It's not good at all for the UK. You don't buy enough Mercs or Vdubs or even Beamers.

It;s just the typical English superiority complex.

The problem with you Jocks is you can't drink, you can't fight and you can't play football.
Have you considered how that would sound if you replaced "Jocks" with "Blacks" or "Pakis". Perhaps you have and find it acceptable.

Dair Of course a recent Panelbase showed a majority of SNP voters wanted out of the EU, I believe we will stay in, just, but Switzerland and Norway seem to do OK

Voters decide such things not the SNP. Almost every poll has shown a strong preference of Scotland to remain in the EU. If that changed then Scotland would leave. As a resource rich, exporting nation, it would be pretty irrelevant economically.

'The EU does not care about the value in trade of the UK'

The Germans do, you obviously haven't noticed all those expensive cars they sell here.

You mean the ones where a significant portion are built in the UK with UK workers where outside the EU, Germany would tell us "accept all we sell you or we close the factories". And btw, we own the Trade Marks on your shit.

Yeah, that sounds like a strong negotiating position for the UK.
Once again Dair ignores the balance of trade and balance of payments figures which show that were it not for our trade with the EU we would actually have a balance of payments surplus.
Yeah because without being in the EU suddenly England will make all the stuff it imports.

    Oh wait...
I did ask you a while ago but you haven't answered yet, how much does Mexico pay to trade with the EU?
After Scottish Independence it will rely much more heavily on Scotland's leccy
    Why?

Without Scotland, your lights would go out.

    what age Are you 13 ? 15?

Your logic and replies seem to infer that sort of age group.

Dair If Scotland were ever to become independent the nationalists energy would switch from independence from Westminster to independence from Brussels soon enough

Why would England rely much more heavily on Scottish generation?

    A link would be helpful......

Renewables are cheap as chips. It's why Hydro power (a 100% renewable energy source) is the cheapest energy in the UK.

And 90% of it is in Scotland.

BTW, without utter stupidity you would know there are no such thing as "green taxes".

The problem with being dependent on Scottish energy is that too many Scots are just too hostile to England and as such one has to consider the potential that they would become an unreliable supplier should independence take place. Therefore it would probably be better for England to look for alternative suppliers (e.g. via additional HVDC connections to Iceland, Scandinavia and mainland Europe) as well as further looking for self sufficiency using all the energy resources available to it. Yes it would have a cost but energy security is essential.

Who will pay for these HDVC connects? The government? The Customers? END HDVC INTERCONNECT TAXES.

Why pay these? END HDVC TAXES.

You see that's what "green taxes are". When general taxation built nuclear plants, gas plants and coal plants in the past, general taxation paid it. The green plant infrastructure is cheaper.

It's cheaper to build per kilowatt hour and much, much cheaper to produce per kilowatt hour.

Why pay them? So we don't have to rely on the likes of you.

According to sources outside Scotland after independence English domestic power costs will be lower and therefore a proportion of those savings could be redirected to fund alternative energy sources. I only chose HVDC because a) it can link into current capacity and does not necessarily need new generation capability if countries already have surplus generation and b) as a result of not requiring new generation it would seem relatively quick to implement but it could be any sort of generation really so long as it does not require us to rely on Scotland post independence...

I'm not the one displaying 'utter stupidity'.....

I'm glad you think wind power is 'cheap as chips' - you are clearly from the SNP $115 oil school of economics......
