If UKIP had followed my advice and gone anti-fracking, anti-GMOs, anti-glyphosate
and pro- healthy environment, they'd be heading for parity with the majors, but as pro-
    fracking, pro-GMO and pro-glyphosate, they're over before they've started.

I am sure that will be a winner with those retired colonels, blue rinsed ladies, white van men and other well known aficionados of ecological issues.

Miss Plato, I believe Napoleon was average height. His derision relating to shortness is due to the immensely successful mockery of British cartoonists (just one more reason we should guard this ancient freedom).

The often quote view that Napoleon was 5ft 2ins doesn't take account of French inch being longer than the imperial inch,in the imperial equivalent he would have been 5ft 7ins. He was also mostly seen in the company of his Old Guard, a unit selecting its members among other things for their imposing stature.

1% of the world is about 70 million people. £20k sounds extremely low. I'd imagine that there are 70m people earning more than that in the US alone (app 20% of the US population).

I agree is sounds like horseshit. There are currently ten countries in the world where the average disposable income is over 20k: United States, Ireland, Luxembourg, Australia, Switzerland, Canada, United Kingdom, South Korea, Norway, Denmark, remembering that income is more than salary and includes benefits as well.

The Oxfam figures are meaningless any without considering cost of living, I live in a third world country, and a relatively meagre number of pounds goes a hell of a long way. I know several expats retired here on pensions of around 8-10K living very comfortable lives (its about what a middle class local earns)
