I thought it was interesting to learn today that apparently "a 20-year career in the City that was without blemish" is an acceptable excuse for stealing nearly £43,000 in train fares.

How did they get him for past misdemeanours?

I suspect they simply checked his Oyster card for the number of times he checked in and out of Cannon Street station. The buffoon must have never bothered to change his Oyster card.

NOA Walker was a Tory wet, Robertson a metropolitan liberal, if you had had a debate between Dennis Skinner and John Redwood the differences may have been wider, night!
  • One of Ed Miliband's closest advisers has been identified as the person who approved a controversial document advising Labour MPs not to engage with voters on the subject of immigration.

Lucy Powell, vice-chair of the general election campaign, allowed the document revealed by The Telegraph to be sent to dozens of MPs which yesterday threatened to undermine Mr Miliband's attempts to claim Labour was getting tough on immigration.

The "incandescent" shadow cabinet rounded on Mr Miliband privately as he was forced to distance himself from the controversial 33-page memo by openly criticising the official Labour Party advice.

But Ed didn't know anything about it, like Gordon didn't know what Mr McBride was up to despite sitting next to him.

Getting a new card for each offence may have taken some doing.
  • Emily Maitlis has just retweeted one of my tweets.

    Get in.

    First Susanna Reid....

I thought BBC presenters had to be neutral and should not endorse the tweets of others, however distinguished.
