"Rural school is denied top grade by Ofsted inspectors because it's 'too English' and not diverse enough"
Total Idiocy.
It's certainly total idiocy to blame Nicky Morgan for an individual decision that will have been made about 10,000 grades below her.
And total idiocy to say the school was graded 'good' and not 'outstanding' because it is 'too English'. The report simply doesn't say that and to use quotes is thoroughly misleading. The school was not rated outstanding on any single criteria but should be congratulated for bettering it's 'needs improvement' assessment rather than being dragged into this row.
Don't think anyone has been arguing about that, just about what Nicky Morgan's role in this was/is.
Indigo labelled the state of affairs described in the Daily Mail quote as 'total idiocy'. I'm simply pointing out that the Daily Mail report is wholly misleading. A debate whether Nicky Morgan is responsible for something that hasn't happened seems somewhat pointless.
Mr. Me, gnostic means 'knowing'. It's agnosis/agnostic which conveys uncertainty.
[I know this is incredibly pedantic, but that doesn't mean I'm not enjoying this odd tangent].
Hydragnostic sounds like knowledge of hydras, though. [Which linsk nicely to the Augean stables comment below].
I'd like to think that we all knew our Hydras from our Hydrangeas. Hard to see how even Doctor Who could make an episode out of that, but it would still be better than the disappointing Atlantis.

Based on policies she set. Politicians set policies, officials carry them out, the buck stops on her desk.
Not so. Ministers are not involved in that level of detail and you forget she's only been in post a few weeks. Conclusion: Your comment was idiotic.
That isnt how Edward Leigh MP sees it. He objected to her to the policies she was implementing, read the article.
You're in good company with Sir Edward - he's not the sharpest pencil in the box either.
An interesting view of a MP that was chairman of the Public Accounts Committee for a decade.
Having taught for many years I can assure you that facility with numbers does not necessarily correlate well with understanding the nuances of OFSTED. None of which affects the thrust of my remark that it is quite idiotic to pretend that a SOS should be held personally responsible for an individual inspection report.

Wow, my apologies for misreading your comment!! I've only just woken up and am therefore still quite slow on the uptake.

The Tories desperately trying to appeal to those who hate them. It will have absolutely no effect. Those who hate them will still do so and it will just p!ss off their natural supporters.
Didn't Nicky Morgan want aggressive education on homosexual mores in schools?
Leaving aside the clanger, "were" is supposedly grammatically correct with "data" since "data" is a plural word. So say the purists, though it seems as silly to me now as insisting on the plural with "news".
If first impressions last then a quick look at the two candidates for Stockton South tells you everything you need to know about how the campaign will go when they both pound the doorsteps.

Quite right. The report never said the school was 'too English'; that remark came from one of the parents, presumably in response to a loaded question from a reporter at The Daily Hate. Rabble-rousing journalism at its worst!

It should be "Data was weighted"
"Data were weighted" just looks wrong and against all laws of God and nature.
Mr. Charles, I was referring to the Labours of Heracles.
I wonder how politicians today would handle them...
Blair - tough on hydras, tough on the causes of hydras Brown - this invasion of monsters, which started in Persia Cameron - we have a goal of reducing the migration of monsters into Greece Miliband - we need a judge-led public inquiry into the number of monsters we face. And possibly a monster tax

When I become the country's First Directly Elected Dictator, I shall create the Ministry of Grammar and Pedantry, to correct the truly awful things done to the English language.

yebbut "Data" is Latin - and a Latin plural to boot!

As was I, Mr Dancer. My grandfather insisted - when he wasn't reading Asterix in Latin - that I should listen to him read the Greek legends.

Just watched Ed V Myleene and I thought Ed was fine. Myleene on the other hand would have given Marie Antoinette pause for thought. Whether it'll do her any professional damage depends on what she wants to do. She'll certainly take a hammering from UK comedians which might be an intro to a bit part on Ab fab I suppose
Is it worth putting the Libdem candidate on the "major parties" list?
Interesting that the comments seem less than complementary to UKIP. But Cornwall is a very easy going, rurally bohemian sort of place - unreceptive, I'd have thought, to the pinstripe-and-golf-club establishment right-wingery of the Kippers.
Roger.. Klass filletted your boy.. he had no idea how to handle it .. and she is a pop singer..Even Von Rumpoy would fillet EdM .. Putin must be licking his lips..

Hmm, I may need to see you in action on such matters before deciding if I need to rebel against your otherwise no doubt excellent rule - there are many things that some people regard as terrible crimes done to the English language which it could well be argued are simply ignoring arbitrary archaisms (or rather, not so archaic given when some of them were imposed).
On the other hand, if 'awful things' includes absurd overuse of semi-colons, I may just have to emigrate.

I love the notion that poor bewildered northerners might not know what to make of being canvassed by an artist or, worse, a transvestite! "Eh up, she walks like a woman but talks like a man, what's that all about pet?"
Mr. Neil, confusion and consternation is likelier to be the other way around, if Harman's idiotic claims [from a few years ago now] calling a woman 'love' was sexist is anything to go by.

He certainly caused some raised eyebrows in the gents at Glyndebourne.

Kippers are like lions these days, so a PRIDE of Kippers would be perfect.
Doubly appropriate - as your granny knew, pride comes before a fall....
Your granny should have read her bible more closely.
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
I was happy with a fall, but I'll happily take destruction.... Especially if it is the word of God. Although does that risk our bets being voided for Him manipulating the market?

The typo is this
Under data weighting it says
Data were (sic) weighted to the profile of all adults in Rochester & Strood constituency.
http://survation.com/wp-content/uploads/2014/11/Stockton-South-TTIP-Full-Tables.pdf
Ashcroft: Con 8%, Lab 48%, LibDem 33%, UKIP 10% [weighted base of 49]
Survation: Con 25%, Lab 35%, LibDem 31%, UKIP 3% [weighted base of 37]
Interesting difference that Survation name the candidates for the "big four" parties, whereas Ashcroft appeared not to. Incumbency effect?
Maybe, but with a margin of error of > 12% (for a 90% confidence interval) it's impossible to be sure. Need more data.

Of course, that doesn't happen, because the modern British state has a complete double standard in how it treats white people and non-white people.
