According to the Guardian, Salmond has employed “a lifestyle coach and happiness guru” in advance of his crucial televised debate against Alistair Darling.

Must admit I’ve never thought of the FM as the happy, smiley face of Scotland, but, hey ho…

    Thought that was Malcolmg......
The prospect of Malcolmg as "a lifestyle and happiness guru" would be an interesting one!

I would have thought that such a coach would be redundant for Salmond, he only needs some government trews and a five star golfing break to stay smiling...
Ha Ha Ha, ignorance is bliss.

On the military issue my uncle joined the 2nd Battalion, the Hertfordshire Yeomanry in (I think) 1914). For whatever reason it appears that the 2nd Battalion was kept in UK as a Training Battalion, until in late 1917/early 18 it was broken up and the members assigned to other units. My uncle consequently appears on the War Memorial in his small Hertfordshire village as serving in the KOYLI.
  • Who the hell is this booze-faced thug?

    A weatherman
"Q35. Who was once caught in the toilets of STV, drunk on booze and smearing shit all over the wall to spell out the words “STV is shit”? Was it weatherman Lloyd Quinan, Newsreader Angus Simpson or Sportscaster Jim Delahunt?

    A. Lloyd Quinan"

I continue to be impressed by Amazon and the way it does business.

I ordered some dvds on Friday. Yesterday I received the email that they'd been shipped.

A couple of hours ago the front doorbell rang and there was a nice lady from the Post Office with my package.

Sunday delivery - whatever next? Drones apparently.

    @OldKingCole
The "second" battalion might have been one of those created as a "reserve" from which they would draw replacement troops if deemed suitable?
The HLI consisted of two regular battalions, but was augmented at various stages by about 19 others, some of which went on active service, while others were used in home defence (including Ireland), or as training battalions.
Check if his original regiment had two battalions of "regulars" before the war started?

It should be noted that Lloyd Quinan is a also a Hibs fan. Literally no redeeming features!

    In the States, presumably?

I do agree though. The only tiny fly in the ointment is that Amazon is the most awesome money-losing machine known to man - $100m last quarter I think? Not that I'm a shareholder but you have to ask how long they can keep it up.

Thanks Smarmeron. I'll do that although I think it unlikely that a county Yeomanry regiment had two regular battalions.

7 day a week same day delivery in 12 US cities is pretty damn amazing logistics. You can order as late as midday and still get it that day. I presume they will roll that out to more and more locations.

Here in the UK, I really like the deliver to box system they have started to roll out. It is really convenient.

If only they would pay their taxes!
