    What's my point Mr Royale?
My point is your assertion that we are in some way more vulnerable or uniquely vulnerable is bogus. We have been as well protected by treaty with close and powerful allies and by our own strategic weapons as we could hope to be ever since the advent of the cold war. We have negotiated Hong Kong away , as was inevitable, and we have built a runway for fighter jets on the Falklands and maintain a nuclear sub patrol there.

You seem to be mixing up several points and observations together in your posts. However, my point was that the UK cannot be defended just at its borders. Its defence is also regional and global. Also freedom of the skies and seas is particularly important to us. If these are choked off, we are in trouble.

If you think we are adequately covered by our existing defence infrastructure, then I'm afraid I will have to disagree with you. I think our defence forces are now too small to do the job they need to do.
