Angling for a job writing Labour's 2028 manifesto I see.
Or anybody's. I am not a fan of having growth at the centre of political discourse. IMO talk of us growing a lot faster is mainly a rhetorical tool to avoid facing the reality of being us here in 2024.
But, you know, you have to win elections.
"Growth was low under the Tories and there's no reason to think it'll be that different under us. It depends largely on global factors. However they've been in power for 14 years and latterly have sunk into a mire of corruption, incompetence and self-indulgence, choosing to preen and posture rather than graft and govern, so for the sake of our democracy they have to be given the old heave ho."
I'd have voted for that - very enthusiastically - but I doubt it would have secured the landslide.
Labour hold all 3 seats in the Glasgow by elections. Turnout in Glasgow North East - 12.4%
They looked from pig to man and man to pig.
Tories in Glasgow now on Red List at under 6% as reform move in.
Do we have a ready summary of the actual voting last time? Multiple candidate slates, so difficult to compare without more data easp the rank of the vacating councillor. Ballot Box Scotland hasn't done his (very useful) thing yet alas.
SCon were at 10.2% in 2022 elections on a 38% turnout, so Reform's double digit share won't have come solely from them
