Re: Could the next UK general election be fought under the alternative vote system? politicalbetting.com
Trying to change the voting system will make Labour look desperate ( which they are ) and you’d really need a referendum for that which tends to turn into a verdict on the government rather than the ref question itself .
Personally I’d support a change but I don’t see it happening anytime soon .

@haramcart
Pete Hegseth is so spectacularly stupid that he used his insider knowledge of a strike on Iran to attempt a multimillion-dollar trade that LOST money

The pardoned Jan 6ers are now suing the government for wrongful prosecution (despite an admission of guilt being a condition of pardons).We are still waiting for Merrick Garland to indicate Trump for January 6th.In normal times this would mean a sacking: Hegseth intructed his broker to invest millions in defence companies shortly before starting a war.One reason why we shouldn’t take free midterms for granted is if the Republicans lose office most of them will be spending rather a long time as guests of the Federal Government, even though because the American judicial system is corrupt it will take a fair while to put them away.

The Trump admin will probably pay them after settling out of court - as it did with Trump himself.

It will backfire because those jobs are needed to keep the wheels of the NHS turning.It will backfire since Starmer has no backbone and always gives in.

Bold from the govt on junior doctor strikes.
Particularly interesting the headline says it is Starmer and not Streeting. Possibly a risk if it backfires and Streeting blames Starmer.
It means another thousand off to Australasia/Canada/USA or lost to the profession completely.

The advice might be: "Don't do it!"I wonder if any of the Iraqi generals involved in the previous invasion of Iran are still around. They could have some useful advice for Trump.That wasn't an enormous success, was it?

Good morning, everyone.There is a small clique of politically active Momentum inspred insurgents leading this campaign. They are less motivated by Pay and Conditions and their patients than by making a name for themselves. They see Streeting as a Tory with a Red Rosette, they don't view Starmer much differently.
Is there an actual event that would end the cycle of doctors striking for more money?
They embolden the fringes of their Union and don't speak for the majority.
Any break must come from within and by the Government standing firm.
The Government bent over backwards with initial pay deal, it's correct to say that didn't fully correct 14 years of gross misconduct in office by successive Tory Health Ministers when it came to the NHS. If these moronic momentum idiots could actually see th wood from the trees they would realise that if they got back to working full time, got what they were offered and got fully qualified, with another Labour Government in 2029 for 5 more years they may have a UK career, if Reformget in or Tories are any part of a Reform led coalition, the NHS as we know it WILL be fully destroyed.
