Re: This can be classed as a bona fide Brexit dividend – politicalbetting.com
An alternative view is that the EU was determined to show that Brexit was a bad idea, even at risk of harming itself. Free trade with the UK and Europe isn't just good for the UK. And they did their job pretty well. You mean they were wrong about something? Wow, that almost never always happens...You think only 49% of French and Italian voters saying they would vote to Remain before a campaign, and before Putin has a crack at shifting the dial, is a sign of cohesion and strength? Hmm…The cascade of other countries wanting to leave that Brexiteers confidently predicted doesn't seem to have happened.
I wonder what that number would have been in 2005?
The British number was over 50% pre-referendum campaign.

On topic: Stockholm Syndrome prevalent across Europe. This is the kind of comment almost universal on the British right wing. "The EU is self evidently malign, any therefore one who supports it is either malign themselves or deluded fools".
This utter lack of courtesy is not just disrespectful to the argument, it is, quite frankly.the root of the chaos that the Leavers have inflicted on the UK. It is time that every whinge and moan was called out for what it is: drivel. You got what you wanted- it is a failure. We now need to correct this failure in order to forestall a long term crisis that will leave the UK much poorer and much weaker unless we re-engage or rejoin the EU. That is now the choice, not the delusions of Singapore on Thames or "wider still and wider".
It is because neither Cameron nor the Leavers were prepared to have a grown up conversation about the choices that we face(d) that British politics has become so trivial.
By all means attack the EU, but you must make the case based on more than a pathetic whinge. The failure is not that of the EU. The failure is Brexit, so stop whinging. The fact that you were bought and sold for Russian and/or American gold is going to come out sooner or later, and the leaders of the Leave campaign, from Gove to Mogg were rightly removed from British politics. The sooner Farage follows, the quicker we can start the recovery from the disaster that they caused.

I don’t really care if he is officially stripped of titles or gives them up. I don’t care if he continues living a long life in Royal Lodge regretting or denying his actions.
I do care that everything is done in line with laws and rules though rather than pitchforks and flaming torches and because politicians and other big mouths want a moment in the sun shroud waving and burnishing their credentials.
Andrew is an entitled shit who has done a lot of very bad things but we don’t ignore leaseholds or laws or rules because we don’t like people, there need to be legal reasons otherwise it’s open season when someone with power decides they don’t like someone else and that someone might be the person shouting and crowing at the moment.
We can see how republics attract rule breakers in Trump, Putin and Sarkozy so if people don’t follow the rules and law then they aren’t any better than Presidents.
NO PRESIDENTS.

Just imagine you’re living in the UK and could fall under the Tory/Reform proposals .
You’re now put in a horrific situation of not knowing whether you might be deported after the next election . The stress of living under this cloud , what might happen to your family etc .
And politicians spew out these policies without giving a flying fxck what the impact might be on real people.
Once you start de-humanising people and just see them as data points it should be a wake up call and people need to realize that once they’ve come for that group who will be next .
These really are dark times .

It's not just that."Woman is fined £150 for pouring coffee down a drain - after being 'chased' by three jobsworth council officers"This is a classic gripe I am interestingly hearing from even left leaning friends.
https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-15215979/Woman-fined-150-jobsworth-council-officers-pouring-coffee-drain.html
If you working hard, paying your taxes, doing the right thing, the state has found 27,000 ways to punish minor indescretions and increasingly efficient at it.
If you just don't get a f##k, the punishments are neglible from the police ignoring it, absolutely useless at finding these people , and even if they do things like fines spread over many years set at tiny weekly amounts.
That's from illegal businesses to scrotes who are shoplifting, nicking phones, letting off illegal fireworks etc.
If you're carrying on business diligently, then the cost of avoiding minor indiscretions, by complying with the growing thicket of regulation, is increasing every year.
