I don't think I can agree. This is not binary - there doesn't have to be one guilty party and one non-guilty party. Robbins may have faced undue pressure to get Mandelson approved - I am sure he did. But he still made a decision that he would not share the outcome of the vetting process with those responsible for the… -

You are not having that. I said from the start Starmer should fall on his sword for an egregious error. It is a shame he didn't on Thursday when the Guardian story broke. Where does the buck stop? But this utter lie from PB Tories that Johnson was merely ambushed by a cake is unacceptable rubbish. As for Johnson not being… -

Max Hastings may have been exaggerating a bit. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Worldwide_influence_of_the_Constitution_of_the_United_States For the record: I think that constitutions should fit nations, not the other way around. There are nations where constitutional monarchies make sense, for example. The very federal… -

Why Director ID is needed is beyond my paygrade, but I can fairly easily imagine the abuses that it's meant to deal with. But to do that, there is clearly some admin that needs to be done. As a nation, we either do that by having civil servants in offices doing stuff (which has direct costs) or by having directors doing… -

Arguing with Starmer is like arguing with that Warlock or whatever it was that asks questions before either letting you cross the bridge in "Monty Python and the Holy Grail" or casting you into oblivion. The winner will presumably be the one who knows the air speed velocity of swallows, european and asiatic, laden and… -

I dunno about that. It became a trope in the Observer pretty early in Blair's government to say that it had been, "the worst week yet." Ecclestone, of course, the cut to single-parent benefits, Brown's double-counting of spending increases. But despite all the other things going on the government had a plan of work that… -

Fun fact about Zach Nunn: He and his wife have six children, two, two, and two:Nunn married Kelly in 2013 in Washington, D.C.[37] It was her second marriage, from which she had a daughter and son, Addisyn and Canon during her first marriage.[37] In 2015, they had a daughter, Olympia, then another daughter, Selwyn, in… -

Re: The economic impact of leaving the EU
I think its fair enough for Robertson to criticise Labour on defence spending, particularly if he feels they aren't prioritising well. But I dont see why he feels the need to add in the bit about welfare which is unhelpful, is only going to damage his message with labour side and outside of his remit.
