This isn't completely stupid at 250/1 (or even 100/1). Cameron might well be asked to mind the shop if: (1) a vacancy arose at no notice; (2) a HoC VoNC propelled May out of office, Corbyn tried to form a govt but lost a HoC vote too, and someone was required to head the government during the ensuing election, who hadn't… -
Re: Sunak’s doing better than Truss – but that’s not saying much – politicalbetting.com
The inquiry into whether Boris Johnson misled MPs over rule-breaking parties in Downing Street is homing in on a gathering in his private flat, the Observer understands. Follow-up exchanges with witnesses working with the inquiry are now taking place as the privileges committee, led by Labour grandee Harriet Harman, works… -

Thanks to you and all the respondents. The school starts are staggered, so some are having them before their first day, and some after; it's probably just coincidence that we had ours on his first day. Well, it's over; it was about half an hour with one of his class teachers and another teacher. We had a nice chat about… -
Re: YouGov CON members poll has Truss 24% ahead – politicalbetting.com
Anyway, Liz Truss is the John McDonnell of the Tory party it seems. He wanted to borrow to invest, which had a sort of sense. She wants to borrow to hand money over to taxpayers who are the relatively better off in society, by definition. Neither she nor Sunak have any plan for how to help the poorest who face real… -
Re: Punters backing Sunak are ignoring that there isn’t a vacancy – politicalbetting.com
Gavin Williamson should start learning how to toss the salad (bye bye that knighthood.) In October 2020 the footballer Marcus Rashford vented his despair at MPs voting down proposals to extend free school meals during holidays. He was not the only one. Christian Wakeford, then Conservative MP for Bury South, a few miles… -

In Italy I don't think it is 68k tests on 41k yesterday but 68k tests involding 41k new people. The 27k already tested may have not been tested twice yesterday but just had a previous test. The healed ones need to have 2 negative tests, with the second test 48 hours after the first. So they have at least 3 tests in the end… -

But why do that by borrowing? And by borrowing more than was declared, as you quite rightly note and I had not mentioned. I have no objection to more money for public services (I am a teacher after all!). But I don't think it is acceptable to be hugely increasing debt in boom years when all economic indicators - inflation,… -

@Sean_F Reverences to an exit poll in sombre tones on Radio 4 presenters after 11.00 suggested that something they hadn't expected was going on. Stayed up all night, for Cable amongst others. Nope, I'm happy for you to stay home for as long as you feel is necessary. The rest of us can get on with life if you don't feel comfortable being out. I'm not stopping you from staying home or wearing a mask. You're trying to impose your will on the rest of us who are now comfortable to go out and take that tiny risk. All…
