Megaton range hydrogen weapons require a decent amount of tritium, which is extremely expensive- roughly $30,000 per gram. If you were, for example, a moderately corrupt Russian General, the temptation of not renewing the extremely expensive tritium in the warheads according to the maintenance schedule and instead taking… -

It's more complicated than that (lesson plans are a moving target, for example, and free biscuits went some time ago), but yes- survive the initial trial by fire, and you get paid more for less effort. Outside London, a normal teacher atop the pay scale is on £45k, £50k or so if they can get the upper pay scale. Head of a… -

At a state grammar school in Cumbria we had an ex public school lad join us for the Sixth Form. As such he knew people who knew people at Andrew's school. According to this "source" when Andrew's Police Protection Squad wanted the night off, presumably for a shag or whatever they simply provided Andrew with a full set of… -

Does Lewis have any less in common with Ullapool than it does with Barra? Does Orkney have any less in common with Caithness than it does with Shetland? Arran is lumped in with… -

On allotments, it's worth a note that it is 8 allotment plots, not 8 allotments. One site is in Ashfield and two in Bolsover. I have slight doubts about the whole thing, as I can't find anything about the Ashfield one saying it is being sold, and I don't think it is Council owned. OTOH, "Kingsway" is a common name, so… -

That calc seems optimistic on age. By 2005 (20 years ago) there were just 4000 miners left in the entire country. Go back to the late 1980s and there were probably more than that within 2 miles of my kitchen table. The last of all anywhere went in 2010, so 15 years ago; that was Welbeck and it was down to 410 by 2005:… -
