There is simple is no appetite among the Conservative Westminster party to ditch Theresa May at this point in the Parliament. They don't want a self indulgent and damaging Leadership contest right now, anymore than they want to land up with one of the also rans that all fell by the way side in the last contest leading us… -

I suspect I'm quite a bit older than you. The dearth of elderly males was quite obvious when I grew up. When I went to boarding school, an old boy, a survivor of ww1 lived in the headmaster's house. His reminiscences, plus my father's memories of the time, brought home to me the utter slaughter and wastage of human life.… -

Biden barely gets through this speech without lapsing into total incoherence https://twitter.com/SarahRosemary3/status/1501237580402249732?s=20&t=Xfjy5j18coREz1PHnfGE9g I feel for the guy. He's old and teetering on the edge of senility. He's still a trillion times better than Trump, but oh for a younger, sharper president… -

De Gaulle was out of power for much of the post-war period until the late 1950's. His view was in part shaped by UK reaction to the Suez disaster and the US pressure on sterling. Both France and the UK were humiliated but each reacted to that very differently. Britain should have been a "Trojan horse" for British liberal… -
Re: Would the real Keir Starmer please stand up? – politicalbetting.com
It's EE's own fault. They knew this was coming ever since the old decision on the "core" 4G network was made. Vodafone, O2 and Three all started making other investment plans on that basis, O2 specifically removed all existing Huawei equipment from 4G to ensure their 5G rollout would be smooth and Vodafone started that… -

Well, I have not been reading PB this am and have no idea what has been going on. But can I recommend to any stressed or depressed PB'ers that a couple of hours in the garden, pruning, mulching, viewing the growth of spring bulbs and winter-flowering bushes (my viburnum and hollies are full of colour) not to mention the… -

A few comments about the amazing nature of the results. Has a governing party ever done so badly whilst the main opposition has also lost seats. The Lib Dem’s should be pleased but also cautious. Their vote went up only marginally on NEV. it was the field fracturing and the support of Greens and independents that pushed… -

Who is they? The 25th amendment requires two thirds of both the Senate and House for the President to be removed. The Republicans are only defending 8 out of the 51 seats they hold at the mid terms - mostly in solid red states with strong candidates who are a lot more electable than Roy Moore. I just don't see the politics… -

It is pretty easy to see why he is not popular - he has no principles. This is a guy who always portrayed himself as a eurosceptic. The moment the referendum arrived, he switched to remain because he thought they would win. When he became Chancellor, he seemed to support hard Brexit and spoke about how the UK could become… -

ANTIFRANK Another most interesting article just like the ones you wrote on potential Boundary Changes last June and July. As no legislation is necessary for the next Boundary Changes and as Cameron still wishes to reduce seat numbers to 600, what do you and others of course think will happen politically please? 1.… -

I am mostly just taking the piss and pushing back against the traditional distain with which South London is viewed. But I do think that South of the river some more of what makes London a great place to live has been retained. Such as proper boozers. Housing that is almost affordable. Friendly neighbours. Cheap,… -

Afternoon all :) Time to put the betting into Politicalbetting methinks. Apart from the usual array of horse racing bets with which I slowly deplete my monthly stipend, I've dabbled a little in the football. For all 6 quarter final and semi final matches, I backed the draw at 90 minutes. £10 each time. 3 winners, 3 losers… -

It's absolutely rife. An absolute disaster zone at my kids' schools. I recently needed to borrow a cat basket to go to the vet (cats have grown and can no longer share) and realised literally everyone I know with a cat in my town has covid. Most of them - adults, anyway - jabbed. But I don't think the response should be to… -

Pah! "It doesn't work"? It's not been tried. Liquidating assets? 0.5% per annum should be easily payable from any return on assets over £1m, with the possible exception of primary residences. The 'little old lady or man in a big house' problem already has a solution which is used for social care costs (it's called property… -

Hard not to accept Wales is improving given the very low point its already at as its hard to do otherwise. Given Labour has been in sole charge there for years including the last Labour governments it shows that Labour are as bad if not worse at this NHS lark. Your agreement that Wales is improving is telling but at least… -

Well, yeah. When I was 25 I went to a fancy dress house party with some friends for which the theme was “bad taste and offensive”. Can you guess what some of the costumes we wore were like? It just so happens it was one of the best house parties I’d ever been to and we all had a raucously fun and drunken time. I also met… -

I suspect you may be right Mr G, but Hunt has now expanded on his comments. I think that is a good thing. I am not… -

I assume the population estimates report received some comment yesterday. apart from the obvious statements about increasing populations having an upward pressure on housing costs and a downward pressure on employee earnings this is notable: ' Apart from London with a net outflow of 10.8 per 1,000 population (mid-2015),…
